Cast it Into the Fire! Destroy it!
Izuku rushes back to the main chapel. He looks around for Todoroki, but can't find him anywhere. He doesn't know who here is a villain, part of whatever imposter-Uraraka is scheming, beyond the faces he recognizes. Unfamiliar people slip by him and Izuku feels too exposed. He takes deep breaths to calm his nerves. He can do this. He's just crashing a wedding.
"Midoriya!" A familiar voice calls out. Izuku turns to the side to see Kaminari approaching him, accompanied by Mina and Sero.
"Kaminari, hey." Izuku replies, faking enthusiasm with a smile. No one seems to notice.
Kaminari leans in close and wraps an arm around his shoulders. "It's been forever man! How have you been?"
Izuku chuckles, relaxing in the presence of his friends. "I've been good. Busy, actually. What about you?"
Kaminari separates and waves his hand around randomly. "So- so. Hero work gets exhausting, you know?" He sighs. "And the only breaks we can get are for things like this." He frowns.
Mina elbows him. "Hey, we talked about this! No sulking."
Kaminari sighs. "I know, but come on, Uraraka? Where did that even come from? Like, I know she's great, but still, I don't like it."
He narrows his eyes and Izuku follows his gaze to the podium set up for the priest. Does Kaminari know? Did Kacchan tell someone else besides him? It would make sense…
"Do you...know?" Izuku asks, voice low, gesturing to the wedding. "About Kacchan and...Uraraka?"
Kaminari looks at him funny. "Huh? I just said I didn't know. Couldn't have seen it coming from a mile away. I honestly thought Bakugou would end up with...well nevermind. It obviously doesn't matter what I think."
Sero sidles up beside Kaminari and claps him on the back. "Unfortunately, it doesn't. You got picked as the ring bearer anyway, so stop moping, you'll ruin the mood."
Kaminari sighs again.
"Uh, you're the ring bearer?" Izuku asks, a terrible, horrible idea coming to mind. "Can I see the rings?"
Mina smiles widely, "Oh they are sooooo nice! Show him Kami!"
Kaminari reaches into his coat and pulls out a decorative box. He opens it up and reveals two heavily diamond encrusted rings. They twinkle so much they can put Aoyama to shame.
It's honestly not Kacchan's style. Izuku thinks sadly.
He takes the box and pulls out one of the rings, inspecting it closely.
"Careful!" Mina tells him, but the others only shrug.
Izuku chuckles nervously. Sorry Kaminari.
He closes the box with both rings inside and just flings it. As far as he can away from them.
Can't have a wedding without rings.
Kaminari, Sero and Mina stare at him, shell-shocked.
"Dude, what the hell?!" Kaminari yells. "I'm gonna get in so much trouble!" He doesn't seem all that angry though, much to Izuku's surprise.
"Why'd you do that, Midoriya?" Sero asks him, also not as angry as Izuku thought he'd be. Mina too, just stares at him as if noticing him for the first time. It's a little eerie.
"I, uh…" Izuku wracks his brain for a suitable excuse. "...there was a spider."
The others only stare once again before they break out into laughter.
Kaminari wipes at his tears. "You are such a bad liar dude!"
Izuku is confused. "You guys...aren't mad?"
Mina stops her giggling to answer him. "Honestly we hate the idea of this wedding, but we decided to suck it up for Bakugou's sake. You have no idea how much we wanted to throw those rings away ourselves, no matter how pretty they were!"
The others nod along. So...they don't know about the imposter-Uraraka, but they don't like the wedding? Maybe they could help him out?
"I'm surprised, Midoriya. I thought you would be all for the wedding considering they're both your friends." Sero says.
Izuku pauses. Should he tell them? They aren't exactly in a secluded place...
"Uh, hello." A voice interrupts and everyone turns to the newcomer. It's Todoroki. He's holding a suspiciously familiar box in his hand. Izuku's heart sinks.
"This is the ring box, correct?" He holds the box out and Izuku restrains himself from grabbing it and chucking it again.
"Sure is!" Mina says with false cheer.
"Why did it hit me in the head?"
The others glance around, Izuku locks eyes with each of them and a certain understanding passes between them.
"There was a spider." Izuku informs him, completely straightfaced. And then he slaps Todoroki's hand holding the ring box and sends it careening out of sight once again.
Todoroki hisses and clutches his hand, which makes Izuku feel a little bad. "Midoriya, why-"
Kaminari, Sero, and Mina break into laughter and Izuku doesn't catch the rest of whatever Todoroki was about to say, but he can probably guess. Todoroki stares at him in confusion and worry and Izuku really needs to pull him aside and explain himself.
"Is this… a joke?" Todoroki asks, a sigh slipping from his lips as he looks between them.
The others laugh harder and Izuku cringes.
"Sorry, there was…" He cuts himself off and sighs. "I'll help you look?"
Todoroki simply stares once again and then nods.
Izuku turns to the three now getting over their laughter. "Someone tell them to postpone the wedding while we look for the rings." Izuku gets a thumbs up from Kaminari and then Todoroki and him leave in the direction Izuku last saw the ring box being.
Now, only to convince Todoroki why they should never find it.
