George Weasley

1. Identity Issues
Growing up George was always part of one whole. He was Fred and George, never just George. But the thing is and he hates admitting this but this never really bothered him, at least not until after the war. When Fred decided to take a break from the joke shop and go get his N.E.W.T.S. and George became just George he felt lost. Like he didn’t know who he was without Fred. Angelina was a big help in trying to find himself. She understood that he had always been Fred and George and that he didn’t know how to act as an individual and not as a part of a whole. It was Angelina that helped him realize he already knew who he was because Fred and George, had always been more George then it had been Fred.

2. More George than Fred.
The realization that their whole identity growing up was pretty much just who he was, made him think. Who was Fred? And how much of their personality growing up was actually him? How much stuff was he pretending to like? And most importantly how can he make it up to him? When Fred left and came back part time he kept these questions in mind but he never asked because he was afraid of the answers. When Fred left the second time, George got angry, very angry and started a big fight with Fred, that ended with Fred storming out and not talking to George for two weeks. That was the longest time they had ever gone without talking to one another. During those two weeks George calmed down significantly and realized that Fred needed to leave, to finally be his own person and his true self. It hurt a lot and that's part of why it took him a few years before he was comfortable talking to Fred about the joke shop.

3. Ron and Weasley Wizard Wheezes
Ron started working for Fred and George two after the war ended. About halfway through the first year working there Fred left to go get his N.E.W.T.S. and Fred let Ron take over his duties in the joke shop. When Fred came back and decided he only wanted to work part time, his job while still more than the average employee became less busy than it was. However, about five or six years after Fred permanently left the joke shop, George started having problems with Ron. He was constantly showing up late and then only doing half, if that, of the work that he was supposed to be doing. This was a big problem for George because when Fred left he signed over ownership of his half of Weasley Wizard Wheezes, with the stipulation that he would continue to receive profits from the products that he helped invent, until the are no longer sold or no longer make profit. All of which meant that George could not fire Ron as he was now an owner and not an employee of Weasley Wizard Wheezes.

4. Lawsuits
Because of Ron's status as an owner of Weasley Wizard and Wheezes, the only way that George could force Ron to actually do the work that he was supposed to be doing was to sue him. George waited and tried everything he could think to get to work before he went down that route. Unfortunately, Ron ended up forcing George’s hand on the matter and he had to go through with the lawsuit or the joke shop would be ruined. It was only during the lawsuit and investigation of Ron’s work in the joke shop that anyone realized the discrepancies in the books and realized that Ron was stealing money for the shop. This combined with the lack of actual work that Ron did meant that George won the lawsuit and got full ownership of Weasley Wizard Wheezes. However, rather than press charges on Ron of theft, he had an accountant figure out how much money Ron stole and had them make the paperwork to prove it. Once that was done he gave all of the paperwork to the Gringotts’ Goblins. The Goblins then made sure that the money was paid back to George.

5. Marrying his brother’s ex-girlfriend.
George had on many occasions gotten a lot of flak for marrying his brother’s ex-girlfriend. What most people don’t know is that Alicia had asked him out first before he could ask out Angelina and said yes because she was one of his best friends and refused to hurt her and say no. Because of this Fred decided to ask Angelina to the ball and that they went as friends, not boyfriend and girlfriend. George asked Angelina out the weekend after the Yule ball and they have been together ever since.

6. Naming his son Fred.
Fred Weasley II or Freddie as he is more commonly called actually was only partially named for Fred. Fred almost died pushing George out of the way of a falling wall during the Battle of Hogwarts. This was something that both George and Angelina wanted to remember and honor, and that was one reason for naming Freddie, Fred. However, another larger part had to do with honoring Angelina’s father Fredrick who was killed in one of the early Death Eater attacks.

7. Breaking the Cycle
When Freddie and Roxanne were born George swore to end the cycle his family had with twins. Sure it was slightly different from Fred and George and Gideon and Fabian. They were fraternal and boy and girl, rather than identical. But he still made sure that they knew it was okay to be different and to be themselves. He wanted them to be able to stand up who thought they should be anything or anyone but themselves.
