Arthur Weasley
1. Arthur doesn't get along with his parents.
In his seventh year, Arthur introduced Molly to his parents, after he proposed to her. They had dinner and talked for a couple of hours, before Arthur took Molly home. When he got back Arthur asked if they liked Molly and was met with mixed feelings from his parents. They expressed that they thought Molly was a nice girl but thought they were moving too fast. Arthur thought they were being hypocritical as they got married young as well. That was pretty much the end of their relationship.
2. The Weasley aren’t poor or at least they weren’t.
The Weasley Family is an old house that is actually very well off. The House of Weasley is known for being poor because unlike many other old families they don’t flaunt their wealth. Until Arthur, the taunts from many of the other Pure-blood families were making fun of their lifestyle. When Arthur took over as head of house this greatly changed, as Arthur liked to gamble. He gambled most of the Weasley fortune away by the time Bill was born. What was left went to pay the last of his debts and he never gambled again.
3. He could very easily get a higher paying job.
The Weasley family is one of the oldest wizarding families in England and while most of the pure-blood elite look down on them, they are still highly respected by many. On top of this Arthur earned 10 N.E.W.T.S, has been head of the department of Misuse of Muggle Artifacts for over 10 years, and has made friends with the head of almost every other department within the Ministry. All he had to do was ask anyone to be transferred, but he refuses because he loves his job.
4. He is not close to any of his children.
Arthur works at least 12 hours a day, seven days a week. He typically leaves for work at eight in the morning and returns at eight in the evening. He will eat breakfast and dinner with his wife and kids and then go and work in his shed for an hour or two, before going to bed. Some nights when they were younger he would tuck them in and read to them, but it was rare. Because of this he really is not that close with any of them.
5. He thinks his parents might have been right about Molly.
His parents told him he was moving very fast with Molly and marrying her so soon after they got together might not end well. It's the argument that estranged him from his parents to the point where he didn’t even go to their funerals, and he thinks they may have been right. Molly wasn’t who he thought she was. She was loud and demanding, and strict on their kids. She has a certain way of doing everything and he hates it. He loves her, but he can’t be around her for too long or he thinks he’ll go mad.
6. It wasn’t until Percy left that he realized he barely knew any of his children.
When Percy left or more like when they were arguing before Percy left, Percy made a comment about how could he possibly spy on him. He never comes home, he doesn't know a thing about him. It was that comment that made him realize he didn’t know what any of his kids liked to do or what their dreams were.
7. His first love was a muggle.
The reason that he is obsessed with all things muggle goes back to his first love. She was a muggle that lived in the village a little ways from his childhood home. He learned everything he could about muggles to fit in. They dated for a year and a half before she broke up with him because he made her friends uncomfortable with his lack of understanding. They thought he was mentally handicapped and believed that she was using him. When this happened she explained everything to him and he didn’t understand. Because of this he spent the next couple of decades trying to understand muggles.
