Camila snaps
Most women at Cat's Cradle were nice, some were indifferent, others didn't mind much about anything, but they were all supportive of each other, so when Camila got funny looks the day after she came back from her mom's house, to say she was confused would be an understatement; it seemed to be a one time thing because she didn't notice anyone doing it the day after.
During those days Lilith seemed pissed, but she wouldn't talk about it, Camila didn't know what was going in her mind, she looked happy when they were with her mom, so it was a sudden change in her personality; every once in a while Lilith would stare at two of their sisters, the time Camila followed her eyes to them she got surprised, they were the ones who gave her funny looks.
"Who are they?", Camila asked Shannon as they sat together during lunch, the rest of their group were still getting their food, "Oh, uh, Sister Vanessa and Sister Monica, we don't really like them", the Halo bearer replied simply as she took a sip of her juice, Camila nodded and stared at her for a few more moments, "Right, explanation, they aren't really nice, we only get along with them because we have to, they aren't really mean but they're not nice, they are, uh, how can I put it?", Shannon tried to explain the two sisters personalities, Mary sat next to Shannon and smiled at them, "Mary, how would you explain the Limbo Sisters to Camila?", Shannon asked Mary. A few moments went by before answer before Mary looked at Camila, "Have you seen Mean Girls? Chicas pesadas? Chicas malas?", she questioned, the younger girl nodded and Mary smiled, "They are kinda like that but make them nuns, they do the same sh- stuff, pretend they like you, act all nice, give you funny looks, they shouldn't be here but they get the job done and haven't done anything really bad, so Mother Superion allows them to stay, it's actually annoying", Mary explained simply before starting to eat.
"Wait, why do you call them that?", Camila questioned as she took a bite of her food, "We gave them many names, Bats, Hades' servants, Beach duo, Mary is the one who curses them and says the worst nicknames", Shannon explained. Before Camila could respond Beatrice and Lilith sat down, Beatrice seemed a bit startled and Lilith looked annoyed, so she decided not to say anything, opting for eating instead.
After finishing their daily activities, Camila and Beatrice decided to spend some time in the small library Cat's Cradle had, they talked for a bit about how they did in school and about some books they liked, they had a good time. Nighttime came and Camila went to her room, the smile she had every time she saw her plushy was warm and full of happiness, she put it in its place and got ready to sleep, for some reason she couldn't go to sleep, it was really late and no one was awake anymore, she took the risk and went outside. It was a calm night, the only sound was the noise the wind made against the few trees nearby, she liked the peaceful silence there was in that moment; after some moments outside, Lilith walked towards her and stood next to her, her eyes were half closed, she had clearly been sleeping for a long while, "Hey, why did you wake up?", Camila questioned with a little smile at the sight of her friend being half asleep as she stood next to her, "I sensed someone was about to do something dumb, I went to your room and you weren't there so of course I got worried", Lilith explained with a smirk, Camila had never seen her friend smirking, she liked it.
"Well I'm not doing anything stupid, as you can see, so maybe it's Shannon", the short girl argued with a chuckle, Lilith pushed her gently and giggled a bit, "Mary will have to deal with that", she answered simply. Both women stayed in silence for a few moments before Lilith yawned, "Go sleep, Lil, I won't do anything bad, I promise", Camila commented with a soft tone, Lilith hummed in response and looked at her, "I don't want to leave you alone", she said in response, this warmed Camila's heart, she bumped her shoulder with Lilith's and chuckled.
They stayed outside for around an hour until Lilith got so sleepy she could no longer keep standing up, with Camila's help she was able to return to her room and get in bed, falling asleep as soon as her head touched the pillow; Camila returned to her room and got in bed, she turned to see her plushy but couldn't find it. Camila had never been the type of person to freak out when something goes missing, but when it came to her toy she couldn't help it, she went running to Lilith's room and opened the door loudly, "Lilith! You saw Señor Oso in my room, right?", she asked loudly, Lilith fell out of her bed as soon as she heard screaming, she looked at Camila and sighed, "Yes, yes, I saw it, why?", she questioned as she got up and sat on her bed, "It's not there anymore!", Camila shouted, panic noticeable in her voice and the way her hands started to tremble.
Lilith froze. Her eyes snapped at her and she stayed silent for a few moments, "Listen, we will deal with this in the morning, go to sleep now", she said, Camila stared at her for a few more moments until Lilith gave up and moved to the side of her bed, leaving enough room for Camila, "Just this one time", she commented, trying to keep her voice soft. Lilith knew who had done it, and she knew Camila wouldn't let it happen without consequences.
In the morning Camila and Lilith went to Mother Superion's office as soon as they knew she was in there, they opened the door and stormed in, "Someone stole my plush!", Camila said once she saw Mother Superion, the older woman sighed and stared at them, "I will not be dealing with childish situations, you two can take care of this, I am very busy right now", she replied simply as she grabbed some papers and set them on the desk, "Isn't stealing a sin?", Camila questioned annoyed, trying her best to stay calm, "It is, just like killing and lying, which we also do, now if you excuse, I am very busy", the older woman said simply, Camila looked at Lilith for some type of support, but the taller woman nodded and sighed before leaving the room, Camila following behind as she tried not to curse.
"Carajo", the young girl whispered, Lilith stopped walking which caused Camila to bump into her, she stood there for a few moments, Camila waled to stand next to her and glanced at the place Lilith was staring at. She felt anger taking over her. The sisters Vanessa and Monica were holding her plush tightly, as if the were trying to deform it. Camila didn't stop to think before running to Vanessa and pushing her to the wall quickly, grasping her neck with her right hand and choking her. The plush fell to the cold floor. Lilith didn't move.
Camila's grasp became stronger in a matter of a few moments, Vanessa could only hold her hand, trying to free herself as she was running out of breath. It took Monica a few seconds to hit Camila's arm with her elbow to free her sister, Vanessa fell to the ground and stayed there as she caught her breath, meanwhile, Monica pushed Camila's face to the wall, a loud thud was the only sound in the hallway for a second. As much as Lilith wanted to fight them, she knew she had to allow Camila to fight her own fights, it took everything in her to stay right where she was and control herself. Camila stayed with her face on the wall for a moment before glancing at Monica, blood dripping from her forehead down her face, a shiver ran down Monica's back, making her take a step back, "Maldita", Monica said in a whisper.
Camila kicked Monica's left leg, making her almost fall, as she stood back up Camila punched her in the nose with enough strength to push her back a few inches; Vanessa took advantage of her position on the floor and grabbed both of Camila's legs, Monica was quick to push her back with one hand as she covered her nose with the other, it was an unfair fight, two against one, but Lilith knew Camila could win; the shorter girl fell back and hit her head, the time she stayed on the floor was enough for both Monica and Vanessa to stand up. When Camila got to her feet there was a small puddle of blood on the floor, as well as her veil, Camila was seeing red and her anger took complete control of her body.
She kicked Monica on the stomach and made her bend, she then pushed Vanessa to her, causing both to stumble back and almost hit the wall behind them. As they tried to get back on their feet, Camila took the chance to push Monica and get her on the floor, she then got on top of her and started to punch her right in the face, hitting her nose a few more times, leaving her knuckles red and bloody with blood that wasn't hers. Her full senses were focused on the girl under her, she didn't notice that Vanessa was behind her until she felt an arm around her neck and the air leaving her lungs; there wasn't much she could do except for moving backwards, making Vanessa hit the wall nearby, although she got dizzy from the pain she kept holding Camila, Monica stared at her for a few moments before punching her in the face, once, twice, many times. In the end Camila was bleeding from the forehead, the back of her head, eyebrow and even from her lips.
Monica took a few steps back to catch a little break, Camila didn't miss the opportunity, she grabbed the arm that was around her neck and used it as support, she jumped and kicked Monica in the stomach with both legs, once she was on the floor, Camila kept holding Vanessa's arm and bended over, carrying Vanessa on her back before letting go of her, making her fall to the floor next to Monica. Monica helped Vanessa get up and they both gave up, they simply glanced at Camila for a second before starting to walk away, Lilith simply stared at Camila as both injured women walked by her side, "This is why you'll never be the Halo bearer", Vanessa said to Lilith.
Lilith's eyes snapped at her. She forgot how to breathe. Her blood started to boil but she didn't move. She didn't say a thing. She didn't act. But Camila did. She approached Vanessa and pulled by the hair, she made her face her and wasted no time in punching her right on the jaw, her knuckles were in so much pain the air made them hurt, but she was ready to throw more punches if it was needed, luckily that wasn't the case, "Enough! We- we will tell Mother Superion!", Vanessa threatened, Camila simply stared at them until they left.
She searched for her plush as soon as both women were gone, Lilith smiled softly at her and showed her that she was holding it carefully, Camila smiled back and immediately flinched because of the pain she felt in her full body, "Alright, right to Beatrice we go, can you walk?", Lilith questioned as she looked at Camila, the shorter girl shook her head and smiled weirdly at her. Lilith didn't answer, she simply got in position and Camila got on her back, as much as she wanted to hold Señor Oso she knew she couldn't since her wands were covered in blood, surprisingly, she wasn't scared of it anymore; if she had seen so much blood on her first week at the OCS she would've fainted, especially since she knew it was blood she was the reason for, but she now found herself not caring much about it, maybe it was the pain she was currently in.
They got to Beatrice's room and the door opened a few moments before Lilith knocked, Beatrice stared at them confused and surprised, although there was a small hint of pride in her face. Both women got into the room and Lilith sat Camila carefully on Beatrice's bed, "You can patch her up, right? I have to go talk to Mother Superion and explain the situation before they do", Lilith commented, Beatrice simply nodded and took out a first aid kit. Lilith left the room quickly and Beatrice looked at Camila for long moments, "Are you just injured in the face or in other places as well?", she questioned, Camila stayed quiet for a moment, "The back of my head, I'm sure the rest of my body will be covered in bruises but I'm only bleeding in the head", she answered, Beatrice hummed in response and started to clean her wounds.
Camila was surprised at how much she had been bleeding, it was way more than what she expected, but it wasn't a bad case, after long minutes of cleaning blood and making sure her hair is clean Beatrice finished patching Camila up, Camila then looked at her hands and noticed the blood on her knuckles, Beatrice had no way to know if it was her blood or the blood of the girls she fought, so she opted for cleaning them too and patching them up as well. "Bea", Camila called after some seconds of complete silence, "Hmm?", Beatrice replied without looking at her, focused on her friend's bloody knuckles, "Was Lilith meant to be the Halo bearer?", Camila asked, her friend immediately stopped what she was doing and glanced up at her, a worried look on her face, "That is a topic for another day", Beatrice commented after she went back to patching Camila's knuckles, the younger girl wanted to protest, but she knew it was better not to say anything, if Beatrice said it was something to talk another day, then it truly was something to talk about another day.
She glanced at Señor Oso after a few moments and smiled, then she noticed a small drop of blood and her smile disappeared, "I can wash it", Beatrice commented once she noticed what Camila was staring at, "It's fine, I don't want to be away from him anymore, I'll just ignore it", Camila replied as Beatrice finished the patching up. Camila smiled at her and Beatrice ruffled her hair before standing up and opening the door, "I will walk with you to your room so you get changed and then we will do our daily tasks, Father Vincent will probably say something to us but we'll just tell him there was an emergency, alright?", Beatrice commented as she helped Camila up and grabbed her plush before starting to walk to Camila's room. She made a mental note to wash Señor Oso as soon as she had the chance to do it.
