Waking up from a throbbing headache, Tony comes to a conclusion.
He has been kidnapped.
Correction, the Avengers have been kidnapped.
“Welcome back to the living world, Tony. How's your nap?”
Barton said in his position on the floor, hand tied behind his back with the Widow stuck to him. Both arms and legs are tied.
Tony takes a look around his cell, trying to gain his focus.
They were ordered to take out one of the Hydra bases in a forbidden area near Phoenicia. And surprise surprise, It's a trap.
Groaning, Tony makes a mental note in his head to clean out SHIELD rats when he gets back.
First of all, his teammates are here minus Thor because he hasn't been on Earth for a long time. Great, they are all alive, no one missing. Clint and Nat are tied together on his left. Which is a mistake, everyone and their mom know to not put the two super spies in the same cell and their captor is stupid enough to tide them together.
On his right are Steve and Bruce. It appeared that whoever captured them deemed Steve as the most threatening; Steve is also awake with a very thick metal wrap around his arms and mouth, about 3 inches thick if Tony measurement is corrected. At least his legs are free. Steve raises his eyebrow when his eyes meet Tony, a silent are you okay left unheard.
It seemed that he and Bruce are the ones with no restraint but his mind is foggy and judging by the look in Bruce's eyes. Their captor must have given them some kind of drug that temporarily blocks their intelligence. In Bruce's case, maybe a lot of midazolam or some kind of enhanced drugs that stop Bruce from Hulk out. Tony thinks, judging by the fact that Bruce is still laying on the ground, unable to sit up. Which, very suck, to be honest. Tony always hates this feeling, and he knows his Science Bro did not take pleasure in this either.
What truly causes Tony's attention, is a bunch of teenagers passed out in the cell opposite from them. Tony does a quick headcount, there are 8 teenagers, 5 boys, 3 girls, and a male adult. Still out cold on the ground. And it looks like someone just carries them here and throws them in the cell like they were a potato sack, proven by the fact some of the teenagers are laying on top of each other.
“Any idea who those kids are?” Tony asks.
“Nope!” Natasha answers him, while Steve just shakes his head. Barton looks somewhat annoyed, maybe because he is a father and seeing someone treating kids like this makes Tony grind his teeth, left alone a father.
Before he even asked, Natasha spoke up.
“No one has come and talked with us yet. There's no guard present but there are a minimum of 12 cameras in this room, not counting the hidden one. There is a high chance that the cameras have bugs installed so watch whatever you say.”
Tony snaps his mouth shut, Barton continues where she left off, which makes Tony question if they rehearsed it earlier.
“And apparently whoever captures us is not of very high rank or intelligence. Judging by the fact they tie Nat and I together, and that metal chain is thick. Yes, but it not vibranium or adamantium so their doesn't have good reso-”
Clint cut off halfway, looking at the cell with the teenagers. The pile of teenagers swirm a little, then a boy with a curly brown mop and doe brown eyes sat up, looking around in confusion. God! He looks like a lost bambi. The kids look around at his friends who are still conscious, then look up to the Avengers staring at him.
The kids squinted his eyes, then his eyes widened and violently jogs backward. So their captor doesn't drug those kids, thankfully. Tony shot a question at the kid.
“Hey, kid! You okay?”
The kid whined at the sudden loud noise and curved to a ball, hiding his head between his legs, hands raised to cover his ears. Barton now glared at him, Tony rolled his eyes. Barton is the one asking the kid now, the rest of them remain silent.
“Hey, kid.” Barton said, his voice goes softer when the kid whines again. “Are you okay?”
The kid continues to bury his head between his legs, when Barton wants to try again. But then one more kid from the pile move, a chubby Filipino boy sitting up, has the same reaction as the other kids. When the boys lock eyes with Tony, he can tell that the boys are internally freaking out, but when the boy's eyes land on the brunette, he quickly leans closer.
“Oh God! Peter!” The kid- Peter- whined again, and the Filipino voice suddenly went soft. “Hey, Peter! Are you okay?” The Peter kid whines again. “Can I touch you?” With a nod, the boy quickly wraps his arm around the Peter kid, mumbling. “Is that a sensory overload?” Another nod. The boy cursed under his breath. Then he uses both his hands to press tightly against the kid's ears.
Another voice spoke up.
“What happened to him?” This time it is a girl with long curly hair, Tony doesn't even know she is already up. Her body language screams uncomfortable but her eyes are sharp, she asks while looking around.
“MJ!” the boys let out a relieving sight. “Peter has a sensory overload! His headphone is in my backpack but we left them at the campfire and Peter doesn't bring his extra. What should I do? He seems to be in pain. I-”
“Hush!” The girl-MJ- demanded, eyes glaring at them now. “Deep breath! Your method is working, Ned. continue doing it.” The boy- Ned- nods, murmuring soothing words in Peter's ear. The girl- MJ- stands up, wobbling a little, she uses the wall to support her, then looks around the cell. She first looks at every single Avengers in the opposite cell, and her eyes remind Tony of Pepper so much it freaks him out.
Now stable on her feets, MJ walks around the cell again, checking on the other kids. Shaking them all awake.
Tony is a little conflicted about the decision. He doesn't want a bunch of teenagers crying and freaking out together, but if they’re awake, it is more likely their escape plan can be soother without leaving all the kids behind.
Peter is now calm down and the other kids including the adult seem to be awake too.
They all seemed to have the same reaction as the Peter and Ned kids, freak out and panicked, even the adult man. Only the MJ girls are the weird ones. Tony thinks this is a good time to speak up.
“Hey, Juveniles! Are you all awake?” Now they all look at Tony, before he even says anything, he is interrupted again, which is very rude.
Three men walk in from the entrance, two HYDRA soldiers and one man he assumed to be their leader. He stands in between two cells. The man looks like a knock-off version of Hitler, the Walmart version, the Hitler that Steve punched in the face, burns half of their eyes brown, chewing in his mouth then spitting it out. Yeah, that version!
Hitler Wanna Be looks inside Tony's cell, eyes scanning around his teammates looking very satisfied. Then turning around, looking in the cells full of teenagers, made them huddle even closer together. He then spoke in a very heavy Russian accent.
“Why are these rats here?” The HYDRA man from his left answer.
“They saw us!” Like it answers the question, but Hitler Wanna Be just nod.
“Hey, Dr. Phil. Can you speak English?” Tony can't help himself. Ignoring the glare that Natasha sends him, Tony grinds. He can understand Russian just fine. With the amount of HYDRA bases they have to take out, and rather than waiting for Nat, Bucky, or Wanda to translate, it is better to just learn the language, even Bruce learn a few words of Russian. And if Tony can learn thermonuclear astrophysics overnight, picking up a new language is just fine.
Fake Dr. Phil is now glaring at him, but ignores his question, which is very rude. Tony's cellmates are either glaring at him or shaking heads in amusement. All companions in the other cell just stare at him with awe, except for the MJ girl of course.
When Tony thinks Fake Dr. Phil will do something to him, the man just smirks and walks away, his minion follows after. Which, ewwww. Is that what he looks like when he smirks? Because if that is what he looks like, Tony swears to his coffee he will never do it ever again. But Tony also dominated the crown of ‘The Most Sexiest Man Alive’ for the last decades, maybe it is not his problem but the man's problem.
“Hey, kids! How did you guys get here?” Tony hears Clint ask, his eyes darted to the cells filled with teenagers. Some look terrified, some seem to try to hold their panic together, some hide behind the only adult in that cell, huddling together for comfort, and Peter is one of them.
“Were on a field trip…” The adult man with a beard and glasses spoke up. His glasses are slightly tilted, and he is the only one with a little blood on his forehead. The HYDRA soldiers just deemed him as a threat and took him out first, rather than those teenagers.
“....They were doing great in a state competition, I took them hiking in the forest, then we spotted some suspicious-looking people loading bags inside a van, and they spotted us too then they hit me, I woke up and we were here.”
There is a lot of information to dissect here.
First, those kids are in a team together, and the man is their coach, or teacher, it 's the same. Second, judging by the physical appearance of those kids, they must be in a nerd team, and the only nerd competition that has happened recently is Decathlon. He remembers some people in his R&D labs have talked about it, and the winning team is from a school called Me-Medtown? No! Misstown? No! Midtown? Yup! Midtown High School of Science and Technology! Look! Tony remembers it!
Tony voices his thoughts out loud, and everyone looks shocked, even Natasha looks impressive.
One of the boys from the teenagers piled perk up.
“Wait, Wait! You're actually Tony Stark? Avengers?”
“Yup! I guess we are really famous, huh.”
The kid looked like he was about to faint but collected himself together.
“So? Aren't you gonna do something?”
“Flash!” The adult man yells, shooting them a quick apologies and pulling the boys next to him. And who named their kid ‘Flash’?
Tony waves it off.
“Nah, It's our fault you guys here anyway.”
Tony chooses his words carefully.
“For now, It seems like we can’t do anything.” Tony decided to just tell them what happened. “We were captured by HYDRA, there must be some drugs involved, that's why Brucie Bear is on the floor there.” He pointed at Bruce. “We have met the captain, trust me kids you don't wanna see him.” Ignoring one of the kids whispered ‘but we already saw him’ Tony continued. “He hasn't said why or what he's gonna do with us yet, but for now you're all safe.” Tony added, seeing panic flashed across all the teenager's eyes.
Satisfied with his answer, Natasha and Steve nod along, Tony spotting Clint's surprised face, he asks.
“What?”
“I'm just surprised you would comfort the kid.” Barton snickered. “Alway knew you were dad material.” He is not, jerk.
Barton looked at the kids. “We will be here for a while, care to introduce yourself?” Then he looks at Peter by the beard man's side. “How is your friend doing? I heard he has a sensory overload!”
“He's fine!” The girl glared. “This will teach him a lesson to bring his noise canceling headphones everywhere now.” and her glare is giving Tony chills, is she secretly a spy too?
The kid whines, murmuring a ‘sorry’ while the man softly asks if he is okay.
Tony then learns that the man is Roger Harrington- science teacher, the blond girl is Betty, and the asian girl is Cindy. And the boys' names are Eugene, Peter, Abe, Charles, and Ned. And Jones, because apparently ‘My friends call me MJ but for you it's Jones.’, Are all teenagers these days alway intimidated like this?
After the introduction part is over, and apparently a bit calm down, the teenagers start to fire questions at them.
‘Are you on a mission?’
‘Miss. Widow, can you really kill a man with your teeth?’
‘Mr. America, what do you think about police brutality?’
‘Do you ever gonna make Spider-Man an Avengers?’
‘Mr. Banner, I was confused about your thesis about the Gamma Diology Radiation, would you like to talk about it?’
‘Mr. Hawkeye, how do you know what arrow is different in your quiver?’
‘Mr. Stark, you’re so cool!!!!!!!’
‘Mr. American, has the government paid you your death gratuity?’
Question was shooting at them left and right, except Harrington, Peter (who seemed to calm a lot now), and MJ. And why does the Spangle Man have two? He can't even answer the question!!
And these kids were smart, most questions were genuence out of curiosity with science and biochemistry or politics. And Bruce looks very happy on the floor, and thank you Ned for think he is cool.
After answering all the kids' questions, things quickly went into a comfortable-ist silence. Then, the Asian girl -Cindy, his mind provided- spoke up, tirely, a hand pressed on her forehead.
“Mr. Harrington, I think we should ban all field trips from now on. This is just too much!”
“Yeah, we think about that.” The man mirrored her motion, with a humorous chuckle.
“What happened?” Natasha asks, Tony wanna know too. It's better to do it than just sit there and stare at his teammates.
Charles chirped. “This is the 3 field trips we have been on together so far. The first one we got involved in a car chase and our bus got flipped upside down-” Clint let out a strange noise, while Steve looked terrified. “-The second trip we are trapped in a malfunction elevator in Washington, luckily Spider-man saves us before we become ground beef on the ground-” The kids joke and Tony is now horrified. “-And this is our third field trip. To be honest, this is the best one out of the three.” Charles motioned at them, while his little friend group nodded along.
“Wow, that is a lot.” Tony think, sensing something stupid gonna come out of his mouth. “Do you want a trip to Stark Industry?” 9 heads peek up like a bunch of chicken, Tony smirked at his thought.
“But SI don't do field trips?”
Tony shrugged. “A little arrangement can be made! Besides, we are cellmates now, that makes you guys special.”
All of the kids looked excited, but then deflated like an air balloon.
“Nah, I have the feeling if we do go, the next event will be aliens invading Earth.” Betty said.
“Or a zombie apocalypse!” Ned looked extremely excited and said something so horrible like that.
“Or world ending!”
“Ain't that included in the zombie apocalypse.”
“Shut up!”
“Or we can go to Asgard!”
“THAT. GONNA. BE. AWESOME!!!!!!”
“Enough!” Jones said, clapping her hand together, stopping the chit chat. Surprisingly, all of them went quiet. So she is the captain, Tony though.
Jones looks at all her classmates.
“Do a body check, did they take away anything?”
All the kids follow her.
“My phone is gone!”
“Yup!”
“Me too!”
“Me three!”
“Mine is gone too!”
“Mine is also gone, but my backpack is still with me.” Peter said, clutching his bag closer. Still looking inside.
“I believe they took my laptop and my phone, also my radio.” He said again, after searching through his backpack.
“Eww, radio.” Flash (or is it Eugene) said.
Jones ignored him, nodded.
“Do you have the new question stack I just made?” Peter nods at her, looking confused, and so does everyone else. Then they all shake their heads.
“No!”
“Don't tell me!”
“Nuh-uh!”
“You’re evil!”
Tony is confused with the kids out brust, along with his teammates. Jones looked unphase at the protest, while Peter hesitated, then he pulled out a stack of cards. All the kids groan, while Harrington looks proud.
“Cindy and Abe. Charles and Betty. Flash, Ned and Nerd. Be nice, they're now your teammates.” Jones said, taking the stack from Peter, who looked sheepish.
Barton barks out laughing.
“Oh my god. You make your friends practice right here?”
Jones deadpanes.
“Yeah, You have a problem with that?” She glared, Barton swallowed, terrifying.
“No, ma’am!”
“Good!”
All the kids suffered together into three teams, then Abe spoke up.
“Wait, why are all the science-people on the same team? It's not fair!”
“Yeah!”
“We want justice!”
“Booooo!”
“We want justice!”
“We want justice!”
They chanted, even Ned, while Peter and Flash looked at each other in disgust. They look really comfortable, despite the fact they've been kidnaped.
“Before, I was mainly focused on balancing you guys out, but I realized that was a mistake.” Jones said, raising one hand up to stop the protest. She points a finger to the group of three. “Because there is no way these three will read about the Boston Tea Party outside of History class.” Then point at the group of other four. “And there is no way you guys are willing to learn about The Schrödinger Equations or what Drosophila Melanogaster means?”
“Dros- What?” Clint asks.
“Its fruit flies.” Peter said softly. “Its scientific name for fruit fly.”
“Why fruit fly hav- Nevermind, I won't ask.”
“Set aside why Parker know that, how come I'm on the same team as them?” Flash asks, feeling incredulously annoyed.
“Well, you are a mixture of both of them. A bit toned down but still, nonetheless.” Jones said.
“I feel offended! What do you mean a mixture of them, and a bit toned down?”
“It means you are good at bio and physics. But if they are 100% in bio and physics, then you are the 50% of them combined.”
“Wow, Jones. Thank you, I really feel the support.”
“I will not sugarcoat it. I speak my mind.” Jones shrugs again, motioning them to sit down.
Jones started out with a fews simple questions, and Tony and everyone else tried to join in the questions they knew. Tony found it hilarious when Bruce was banned from all biology related subjects, but Tony got banned from all math and physics questions. Natasha is very good at literature and Barton answers every question wrong, but he is still trying. Steve is dying to answer a historical question, but there is literally a mental bar in his mouth so it is pretty difficult to do so. Tony can feel his pout coming when Steve wants to answer a question about WWII but can't.
And Tony found out again that these kids are smart, especially Peter. When Jones uses the 100% comparison, Tony assumes that the kid is great in biology, turns out he is pretty much good at all science related topics, he also has a reasonable knowledge of other things too. (And what the fuck is a ragamuffin?) Maybe Tony should keep an eye out for Peter, when the kids grow up, maybe he will have a stand in Stark Industry.
“What is quant-?”
“Wait!” Flash shouted, raising one hand up. Jones raised an eyebrow, obviously annoyed but motioned him to continue.
“You telling me that Parker-” Flash pointed a finger at the confused boy. “-Have his backpack the whole time but can break us out?”
Confused, Tony asks.
“How so?”
Flash glared at the cameras, said in a hush voice.
“I see what you and Leeds did in robotics clubs.” He directed it to Peter, now a look of realization appeared in his eye.
“You know?” Peter asks.
Flash rolled his eyes.
“I'm not deaf or blind, if you both whisper a little quieter than the whole school can hear it.”
Peter's face flush with redness, mummering a quick sorry. Barton asked.
“Hey, kids. I know you guys are smart but care to enlighten who is not a genius.”
Flash glares at him.
“Parker can break us out.”
“With his backpack?”
Ignoring Clint's question, Flash now glares at Peter.
“Right?”
Peter blush again, but nod.
“I-If we can turn o-off the camera then um… I might have managed?” It comes out more of a question than an answer. The kids fiddling with his finger, stumbling.
“And how do you think we can do it?” Ask Natasha.
“Ummm… I have a laptop in my backpack?”
“I thought they took your laptop away.” Clint said.
“Well, I- I have another laptop I built from scratches.”
“You build your laptop from scratch?”
“Yeah….”
Feeling incredulous, Tony asks.
“So we need a blind spot for those cameras, Nat?”
“Left corner from your cell, at 9 o'clock. If your back is facing the CCTV then there is a high chance it would not look very suspicious.”
Nodding, Peter and Ned hurried to where Nat had said, followed by all their friends.
“I would vote against that?” Barton said, make the kids look at him. “If all of you were to huddle together like that, the guard would be suspicious and come check on us. Better if you still act like normal.” All the teenagers look like they wanna protest but decided not to, Barton is a spy after all. So only Peter and Ned are sitting together, Peter's head is on Ned's shoulder, closing all the possible gaps between them with his backpack. Looking up at Nat, when he saw her nod of approval he reached his hand inside the backpack, and pulled out-
A book?
Codex Seraphinianus is the title of the book.
Tony knows this book, it was famous after all, but it does not make his confusion fade away.
Then Ned tapped the dots on the book, it was some kind of rhythm and then the books opened up.
It was a laptop!
The book is a laptop!!!
Feeling like he was in some kind of spy movie, and apparently everyone thinks that too, judging by the fact that everyone is trying subtitles looking at the duo.
The duo now is starting to whisper to each other, and Flash was right. They're not good at whispering at all, Tony can definitely hear more than half of their conversation.
After what feels like forever, Peter sits up while Ned is holding the book? Laptop? Booktop?
“Ok, so….um, we disable the camera. Whoever watches us can only see fake pictures of us, and Ned is now hacking in the facility, if we can have access to their surveillance.” Peter scratched his neck, looking very uncomfortable when all eyes landed on him.
“And can we see the rest of your backpack secret?”
Tony jokes, so that's what Flash is talking about. Very impressive, now Tony can think of an escape plane with the twin spies. Nat shrugs her soldier and free her hand from the cuff, on her way to freeing Steve. Obviously, he was wrong.
Peter nods to Tony surprised, the kid holds up his backpack with one hand and the other is searching for something on the side. He makes the small happy noises when he finds it, then presses the button.
The backpack opens up with a six layer shell filled with different chemicals. In the middle is an inspection machine, breaker, heater, chiller, a vacuum pump, a dropper and a banana?
That is a lab!
The backpack is a lab!!!
This kids have a fucking moving lab with him!!!
Tony was speechless.
And so is everyone else, even Natasha and Jones.
“Is that chemicals from the lab's cabinets?” Harrington asked. “Is that why they alway go missing? Peter!”
“Sorry, Mr. H…..”
Peter's face is now red as a tomato, at the accusation and the attention everyone gave him like he has grown another head. (It's not far from the truth anyway.)
“Kid. I-”
“Cut it out, you can save it for later Tony. Let's get out of here first.” Natasha said while helping a hair pin, attempting to pick a lock. “Steve has to live with that metal bar for a bit longer tho, it looks like a complex lock and I don't wanna mess that up.” She glances at Peter, who is pouring some liquid onto the lock, the lock sissle and melted to water. “Unless kids have something that can help with that.”
“I do, actually.” Peter said, open up the cell then walk over to them. He handed Tony a multicolored pen? “Use the red one, it can heat up to 1500 degree Celcius, melt the metal with that, but be careful with Mr. American hair.” Tony does just that, while Barton goes over and helps Bruce on his feet.
Ned comes to Natasha and shows her the surveillance camera he just hacked into. And the design of this pen is impressive, it feels like plastic but definitely not since it can hold up that much heat. Tony carefully works his way into Steve's mouthpiece, and doesn't want to accidentally hurt him. The metal started to melt when it touched the heat, Steve closed his eyes, completely trusting Tony for his safety. After he manages to cut a line in the mouth piece, and burn one sting of Steve's hair, Steve raises his hand and rips the metal to pieces.
“Thank Tony!”
“Not my thanks to take, Capsicle.” Tony nods his head foware the kids.
“Yeah, thank you, Peter!” Eww, formality. The kid awkwardly shakes Steve's hand.
“N-No problem, Mr. America. I just hope you didn't stare at me every time I got detention, tho.”
“What?”
“You know, Captain America PSA.” The teen group nods, chatting in approval. Steve looked horrified, face now rivaling the kid's redness from earlier.
“They still show those?”
“PSA?” Barton laughed. “Oh, we're gonna watch it. Let's put it on for the next movie night.” Ignoring Steve's protest, Clint carries Bruce near Peter along with Tony, who brings the remaining metal pieces to the kids.
“Hey, kids! I was thinking to use this to make some kind of bomb to escape incased their have advantage on number.”
Natasha cut him off.
“No need. The whole facility has only 9 guards and the man.” She said, and Tony was baffled. How can they capture the Avengers? Natasha continued. “It seemed like they were waiting for backup, and planning to bring us to their new facility.” She said, pointing at one of the screens.
“How did they cause you guys again?” Charles asks, also confused while hovering over the moving backpack lab.
“They have this noise machine that makes you very dizzy, thinking of it, we should make some noise canceling device for all of us.” Peter nods. Tony and him use a bit of metal and make 14 pairs of noise canceling headphones. The kid has some wires and a glue gun (?) in his backpack.
“Tell me what you don't have in your backpack?” Tony jokes, the kids shrug.
“I don't know, my dead parents?”
“Peter!!!” Jones scolded. “What do I say about making orphan jokes?”
“Not to.” Peter pouted, turning away.
“Jesus kids, please stop that.” Barton said, looking somewhere between annoyed and horrified.
“He does that alot. When he knows he can get away with things when he makes an orphan joke, he keeps doing it.” Ned confirms.
“I do not!” Peter pouted again, huffing.
“You do!”
“Do not!”
“Do!”
“Do not!”
“Do not!”
“I do!”
Realizing his mistake, Peter pouted even bigger. Ned grinds, winning the cases.
Not wanting the kids from looking even more of a kicked puppy, Tony tries to distract him.
“Kids! What do you think of Stark Industries?”
“Uhhhhh…..” The kids hesitated. “It’s great?”
“After this ends, I may talk to Pep about needing one or two highschool interns.” All teenagers gasp at him, Tony wink at them. “And Midtown High will be the first one we search.”
“I-” Harrington looks shocked, speechless.
Peter now hands out the headphones while Tony does the speaking.
“Put it on. one tap, it on; two tap, it off. Capiche?”
All nods, Peter hands him and Nat the multicolored pen again. Nat raised an eyebrow, Peter explained.
“The purple will shoot…. Well, purple slime is very sticky. Don't get it on you tho, I dont have the dissolve solution with me. The blue one will create enough electricity to shock them, and the green one can spray glitter.” Nod, and proud of himself.
“Why do you need a glitter spray pen?”
“For fun!!” Both Peter and Ned put their hands up in the air, those kids so nerdy Tony love it.
“Okay, you nerds can talk about it later, let's get out of here.”
Natasha said with Steve on her side. Steve is currently acting as a human shield since he don't have his, telling everyone else to hide behind him.
The break out process was easy. Whenever they enter a new part of the facility, Nat will go in first, they turn on the headphones, and wait for Steve and Nat to clear everything out. There is some chatting about being on a mission with the Avengers from the teenagers behind him, there is also Peter fanboy-ing over Bruce, talking nonstop. Tony found it cute, he won't say it out loud but it is cute.
With Steve and Nat lead, they quickly search through the whole facility. Everyone now has their weapon back, it is very fascinating watching Nat hiding that mountain of knife and gun on her. Proven by all gasping teenagers. Tony can tell that she is putting on a show for these kids, she has a soft spot for kids anyway.
When they get into the headquarters, Tony manages to send their location to Rhodes and they just sit around, waiting for Rhodes to show up. After 20 minutes or so, they hear quinjet landing and all the children huddle outside like chickens. Rhodes steps off the quinjet, raising his eyebrow at the sight of the kids. Tony gave his best friend a quick pat on his shoulder, turned around and asked the kids.
“Do you want us to drop you off or….” Tony trailed off.
“Thank you Mr. Stark, we still need to collect our item from the camping area.” Harrington said.
“Nonsense, I will send a SHIELD agent to collect it. You have to treat your injury anyway.” Leave no room for argument, he then talks to all the eager children. “Do you wanna go inside the quinjet?”
“YES!!!!” A bunch of children ran inside, all except for Flash and Jones who did not run but speed walked toward the quinjet. And where did Jones find a book anyway? Blackshirts and Reds? An interesting title.
They drop the kids at the hotel where they stay in Phoenix, apparently it's been two days, and the hotel people are freaking out. Turns out, Harrington was telling the attendant that they were back yesterday, and the attendant was ready to call the police if they did not come back.
Tony would love to stay with the kids but he has to be back to the HYDRA facility, they have bigger fish to fry anyway. Shooting the kids winks. “Kay, see ya in a few weeks. I will make sure about that.” All different chants of goodbye through at him, and Tony steps inside, hoping to see them all again.
After their camping in the HYDRA facility for 15 hours, they manage to capture all of them alive and Nat brings them into question while Tony and Clint are sweeping rats from SHIELD, there are more of them than you think. Texting Pepper about the field trip and new intern program. Tony stood up, looking at all his teammates who were lying all over the floor.
“Who is in the mood for shawarma?”
