Magnolia Anylise Marquis, the eldest daughter of a Marble Coast Lord, was arrested for arson on the eve of her 18th birthday.
“Morning Sheriff!” she said the following dawn. “Do you have anything you would like to say to me?”
The Sheriff, a tired man in his middle years sighed as he removed his hat and hung it on his chair. “Happy birthday Miss Marquis.”
She beamed, sitting proper on the bunk with a soot all through her hair and hands. “Thank you Sheriff!”
“Anyone told your father you’re down here?” he asked.
“When they find me out of be, he’ll send someone to fetch me,” she replied. “But I imagine that Dustin will’ve raised some passive aggressive hell by now.”
“That the house you burned?”
“Just a little. He locked us in his bedroom with his friends out in the hallway and wanted a particular service from me. He should know better by now! Just look at my reputation,” she huffed and fell back on the bunk, very unlady unlike in her sprawl.
