Hawks steals a child
Hawks was not thinking clearly when he decided to take Yuki with him, but to be fair he was tired. It’s not every day you meet up with a notorious villain so you can infiltrate the League—it wasn’t his idea of a good mission.
It’s also not every day you find a four-year-old that looks exactly like you and that you need to bring with you. Hawks is not a monster. He’s not about to let a young child roam through the streets alone.
Currently, the two were flying to their destination with the help of the hero’s large wings. Yuki insisted that they should fly, because walking was boring. Hawks was honestly fine with showing the kid the skies.
“This is awesome, hero-man!” Yuki cheered happily as they soared through the air towards the Todoroki mansion.
Yuki didn’t inherit Touya’s motion sickness, that’s for sure. He remembered his boyfriend would always complain whenever Keigo flew him. Okay so maybe he wasn’t sure Yuki was actually the daughter of Touya but was a good guess. Maybe a part of him wanted to believe he was still alive. And Yuki was that hope.
“Hang on tight, little bird. We’re about to land.”
The redheaded girl nodded and clung tighter to Keigo's jacket, burying her small head in his chest which made Hawks smile. This better be his daughter because he’s not bringing her back.
If I ever got a DNA test and Yuki isn’t mine…is this a kidnapping?? Did I steal a child?? Nonsense. Of course, I’m her dad—she’s got my wings!!
The two finally landed in front of the Todoroki residence, the young girl still clinging to the hero as he walked up to ring their doorbell. This would be a very stupid idea if Enji was home, but Hawks knew he wasn’t. It was just Fuyumi and that’s all he needed.
Hawks smiled at Yuki as they waited. Fuyumi’s mind is gonna blow. She’s gonna think it’s so cool I found a fellow bird!!
“We’re gonna find my friends after this, right?”
“Of course!”
Fuyumi answered the door, about to greet the blond before her eyes landed on the child attached to his arm. Her smile disappeared fast.
“Keigo, what the fuck.”
“Shh! No bad words in front of the kid!” Hawks reprimanded as her hands flew to her mouth.
“Well to be fair I didn’t know you’d be bringing a kid!! Whose child is this, Hawks!” Fuyumi scowled, allowing the two inside the spacious home.
“Hi, I’m Yuki!” Yuki waved her name at the unfamiliar face. Hawks quickly placed the girl on the nearby couch.
“Hawks, did you kidnap a child?! Why’d you bring them here!!”
The blond rolled his eyes. “Yumi, she’s mine.”
“What.” Fuyumi stared at the hero as if he was a madman.
“Isn’t it obvious? Look at her! Wings and all!”
Fuyumi glanced at the young girl, who occupied herself by trying to chase the tail end of her wings like a cat. “What are you implying?”
“That Touya’s alive, duh. And this is our daughter!”
The Todoroki deeply sighed, rubbing her temples. “Keigo, please move on. This isn’t Touya’s kid. Touya is dead.”
“No! But—but she looks just like the two of us! And she’s the perfect age! She said she only has one dad!” The hero looked desperate, waving his gloved hands through his hair frantically.
Fuyumi just witnessed his outburst with concern and pity. She knew it was hard for the winged hero to accept that her brother was gone, up until last year he was still in semi-denial. This was just insane. And honestly sad. Kidnapping was a crime.
She took a deep breath. “Even if you’re right…why’d you bring her here? And how’d you even find a child?? I’m very concerned, Hawks.”
“Okay, well I found her on patrol because she was lost…so I did her a favour,”
“He’s helping me find my friends!” Yuki called out.
Fuyumi raised an unimpressed eyebrow. “Really?”
Hawks gave the white-haired woman a guilty look. “…maybe I just wanted to keep her…if I’m right…then and really is mine…and I wanna take care of her while I find…Touya.”
Fuyumi remained silent.
“…can’t you see it, Yumi?”
She looked over to the young girl again. It was true her eyes were strikingly similar to Hawks, and her hair is a very beautiful shade of red. And there’s no explaining away the wings on her petite back. But Fuyumi saw her twin die. There’s no coming back from the dead.
“What are you expecting to find, Kei? Are you just expecting Yuki to lead you to him? Please, Hawks. It isn’t possible. It just isn’t. He’s gone.” Tears were forming in her glassy eyes. Hawks looked at her with a saddened face.
“…I’m sorry, you’re right. I’m being insensitive—”
His sentence was cut short when a bright blue light filled the room, drawing the attention of the two adults.
Yuki’s wings were on fire. Blue fire. She giggled at them as the couch set ablaze.
“Oh my god, that’s your daughter.” Fuyumi gawked.
“Oh my fucking god that’s Touya’s daughter,” Hawks added.
“Oh my fucking god he’s alive.” Fuyumi needed to take a seat and fast.
“Oh my god, she can set her wings on fire.”
“Maybe we should stop with the oh, my gods.”
The two paced around the room, frantically trying to wrap their heads around the situation. Reality was soon dawning upon them.
“Why’d you even bring her here??” Fuyumi asked for the third time, trying to calm down.
“I don’t know!! You’re a school teacher!! You're good with kids!!”
“Not with kids that set things on fire!!”
The once beige couch was now stained black thanks to the help of the toddler, the fire having to be put out with a bucket of cold water.
“This means Touya is alive!” Hawks reminded Fuyumi. “We can just ask Yuki where he is!”
She rolled her eyes. “I doubt it’s that easy.”
Hawks glanced at the child who insisted on clinging to his leg after her wing display. “Hey, Yuki, do you have any clue where Touya might be?”
Fuyumi just mentally facepalmed. This bird brain…
Yuki cocked her head, confused. “Tou—ya?”
“She doesn’t seem to recognize the name.”
The blond tried again. “Okay…uh, what’s your father's name? Where is he?”
Yuki shook her head. “I’m not supposed to tell anyone. And I don’t know where Daddy is. I’m lost.” That’s when she began to cry because of fucking course four-year-olds cry.
“I miss Daddy!” She bawled. “I want him now!!”
“You and me both, kid.” Hawks huffed.
“Calm down, Yuki. We’ll find him.” Fuyumi soothed, crouching down to her level to stroke her fingers through her scarlet hair. “You’re safe with us.”
“You’re good with kids.” Hawks remarked.
“Well, of course, I work with them.” Fuyumi retorted, holding Yuki in a small embrace. “Which brings me to our next problem…I have work tomorrow.”
“Me too.”
“We can’t care for Yuki while we try to find Touya. And I doubt we’ll find him before tomorrow.” She sighed.
“You can’t take her into work?”
Fuyumi shook her head. “Seems like neither of us is able to keep eyes on her…we need to find a sitter or something.”
“I’m not trusting any rando with my daughter!”
Yuki looked at them confused. I probably shouldn’t be claiming ownership in front of her.
“Then who, Hawks?”
At the moment the keyhole clicked. Someone else was here. Shoto Todoroki of all people walked through the door.
“Yumi? Who’s that?”
Bingo
“Yumi? Who is that?” The bi-coloured boy asked, pointing his attention to the young child who was still wrapped in Fuyumi’s arms. “One of your students…?”
What should I say in this situation? She asked herself thoughtfully. Come clean with the truth or go with a lie? Yuki could for sure pass as one of my students. But students don’t stay with their teachers after school. On the other hand, I cannot drop the bomb that Touya is alive so soon. What do I do?
“Congrats you're an uncle!”
“Hawks!” Fuyumi scowled.
Shoto looked between the two of them, perplexed “Are you two…?”
“God no!” They both replied I’m unison, disgusted.
“Does Natsuo have something to tell me?” Shoto moved his eyes towards the ruined couch, noticing the remnants of a fire. “What’s going on here?”
“No, Sho,” Fuyumi sighed. I can’t really blame Shoto for being confused. He was the youngest when Touya….died(?) and he was too small to remember his pregnancy scare. Might as well rip the bandaid off now. “We think Touya may still be alive.”
The red and white-haired teen blinked. Touya. The name almost felt foreign to him but the memories were still there. His siblings may not have played a huge part in his life growing up but Shoto could vaguely recall times he snuck into his older brother's room to nap. He also remembers the fire that changed Fuyumi.
“Are you guys mocking me for being a conspiracy theorist? I know Sero being related to Aizawa was a stretch but I swear to god Midoriya is All Might’s secret love child.”
“Please, we’re serious.”
“I don’t really see what this has to do with me being an uncle.” Or why the Number 2 hero is in my living room for that matter.
That’s when the young girl turned away from Fuyumi. “I wanna go home!” She stomped her feet angrily. “Now!”
Hawks tried his best to calm her down. “Yuki, we don’t know where your home is! And you won’t tell us anything. So please stay with us until we find your friends.”
“But I’m tired and I wanna see Daddy. I don’t know who you people are,” she pouted.
“Uh did you steal a child?” Shoto deadpans, obviously recognizing the fact that the four-year-old wasn’t comfortable with anyone in the room.
“N-no.” Hawks averted his gaze. “Not technically.”
“Technically? How do you technically kidnap someone? Also—how does my sister know the Number two hero?”
Fuyumi and Hawks shared a cautious glance. Shoto guessed he was out of the loop on just about everything. This Yuki is definitely their lovechild.
“I’m like ninety percent sure I’m her dad.” The blond explained.
“What? No, you’re not!” Yuki exclaimed. “I met you today!”
“You can’t just see a girl with red wings and assume she’s yours, Hawks.” Shoto retorted. “…she is your secret love child though, right?”
“I already have a Daddy!” The small redhead claimed.
“Okay I know wings aren’t enough to prove Yuki is my daughter but look at this.” Hawks motioned to her wings. Yuki just stood there staring at Shoto.
“…look at what?”
“Cmon, Yuki do your thing.”
Yuki blinked. “No, I wanna go home.”
Fuyumi gave the child a soft smile. “Please, tell us where you live, Yuki. We can help you.” She tried her best to use her signature teacher voice to no avail.
The four-year-old shook her head. “I can’t. It’s against the rules.”
“The rules?” Fuyumi asked.
“I would assume if Touya is alive then he’d be in hiding. Maybe he told her not to tell strangers where to find him,” The blond suggested. “Which really blows.”
“Please, it’s not like Touya is some insane super-villain who needs to be so paranoid. As long as dad doesn’t find him I’m sure he’s fine.” Fuyumi scoffed.
“I’m hungry!” Yuki whined, ruffling her feathers.
“We’ll get you something to eat soon, okay sweetie?” Fuyumi soothed.
“Oo how ‘bout chicken?” Hawks suggested, gaining a reaction from the redhead who looked in awe.
“I love chicken!!” She bounced happily before flapping her baby wings and setting them on fire for the second time.
Everyone in the room gasped. “She did it again!” Fuyumi exclaimed. “Hawks and I both think it’s our biggest lead to Touya.”
“She likes chicken!! Just like me!” The blond hummed as he attempted to blow out the flames on her back that didn’t seem to bother her in the slightest.
Shoto just stared as the commotion unfolded. I know these flames from somewhere. Blue and bright—not like Touya’s—but….the flame villain Dabi.
He was going to be sick.
