A little prank
Camila knew that Shannon liked to do pranks, it was something Beatrice had told her some time after she met her, it was hard for Camila to believe at first, especially because Shannon always looked like a really serious and mature person, she only believed it when she found Beatrice with marker on her face after she fell asleep during a meeting she had with Shannon and Mother Superion. Apparently, Beatrice hadn't noticed this, but every sister warrior did, filling the whole place with giggles, everyone knew it had been Shannon, only Shannon would do pranks so simple. That's what everyone thought.
It was way past midnight when Shannon phased into Camila's room, she was completely silent for a few moments, she sat next to Camila and poked her cheek gently, trying to wake her up. It took her a few tries until Camila woke up, screaming as soon as she saw the Halo bearer staring at her with wide eyes; Shannon quickly covered her mouth with her hand to prevent more screams, "Camila! Quiet!", Shannon kind of yelled, Camila stared at her and nodded her head quickly to get Shannon to uncover her mouth, Shannon put her hand away and got up, "Come on, quickly, we're running out of time", the Halo bearer said as she grabbed a hoodie and handed it to Camila, knowing it was a really cold night.
Camila could only stare at her, confused about the whole situation, why would Shannon, the Halo bearer, get into her room in the middle of the night? Despite her many questions, she did as she was told and put on her hoodie before getting up and putting her shoes on, "What are we going to do?", Camila asked once both women got out of the room and into the hallway, "Today is Lilith's birthday, we're going to prank her", Shannon quickly explained as they walked to Beatrice's room quietly. Beatrice was standing outside of her room with a bag in front of her, Camila stared at her with a little confused smile as she tried to wrap her barely awaken mind around the idea of doing a prank on Lilith's birthday, and then she realized something, "It's Lilith's birthday?", Camila half shouted, getting Shannon to once more cover her mouth with her hand to remind her that she had to stay quiet.
When Beatrice saw them she quickly approached them with the bag on her hands, "You did not tell me what we were going to do, so I just grabbed everything", she explained, Camila looked at her surprised and then looked at Shannon, "Bea is in this too?", she questioned as she stared at the bag in her friend's hands, Beatrice smiled nervous and nodded, a bit embarrassed. Shannon simply chuckled and nodded too, grabbed the bag and started to walk towards Lilith's room, Camila and Beatrice following her from behind, Camila thought it was a tradition of theirs, doing pranks on each other on their birthdays, but she could only wonder how it was like on Shannon's birthday.
After a moments walking they arrived to Lilith's room, Shannon looked at both girls standing behind her and smiled calmly, "Alright girls, it's time", the Halo bearer said before phasing through the door to unlock it from inside, knowing Lilith always locked her door, with the door unlocked, Camila and Beatrice stepped carefully into the room and Camila stared at Lilith. Lilith always had a serious look on her face, most people thought she was mad all the time, but in that moment, while she slept peacefully, she seemed really warm and cozy and like nothing else existed or mattered in the world, Camila wished she could see Lilith with that look just a bit more.
Shannon chuckled and prepared to start the prank, "Lilith has a 'meeting' in the morning with Mother Superion, so, Bea, change her alarm, 15 minutes will do", Shannon whispered to Beatrice as she took shaving cream out of the bag and put some on Lilith's left hand, she handed a water bottle to Camila, "Put this on her shoes", she ordered, Camila was still a bit unsure about the whole thing, but she didn't want to stop a tradition of theirs just because she didn't understand it, so she did as she was told, wetting both of Lilith's shoes. She was impressed that the taller girl hadn't waken up yet, she must be a heavy sleeper; Shannon took a roll of plastic to wrap and tape, she taped some of the plastic on the door frame, she knew just how tall Lilith was, once the top part was done, she taped a few layers of the plastic on the bottom part of the door frame, "If the top part doesn't work, this should do", Shannon explained to Camila when she saw her confused face.
Shannon took a small teddy bear out of the bag and set it carefully on Lilith's nightstand, then she urged Camila and Beatrice out of the room, she closed the door and chuckled a bit as she took a little feather out of the pocket of her hoodie; Beatrice grabbed one of the small mats she had set there hours ago and placed it carefully on the floor, right in front of Lilith's door. Inside the room, Shannon tickled Lilith's nose with the feather, causing Lilith to smack her face with her right hand, Shannon almost laughed, she did it a few more times until Lilith hit her face with her left hand, leaving the shaving cream on her face, Shannon knew Lilith wouldn't wake up from something like that, not at this hour, so she simply phased out of the room into the hallway, scaring Camila as she did so. "Alright, all ready, you two go to sleep now, come on", Shannon said as she playfully ruffled Camila's hair and walked away, Camila let out a giggle and started to walk to her room, Beatrice walking behind her, "Listen, if Lilith gets mad, I'll make sure she doesn't get mad at you, so don't worry about anything", Beatrice commented before walking to her own room.
Camila didn't sleep that day, she stayed up crocheting some flowers, blue and black, for Lilith, it wasn't much, but she wanted to do something for her friend and she had enough time to finish; in the end, she managed to do two flowers before falling asleep on her desk. Her alarm rang two hours after she fell asleep, which wasn't much it was enough to get Camila through the day, she quickly got ready and went to Lilith's room, finding Beatrice and Shannon standing in front of it and Mary asleep on the floor next to Shannon.
There were a few moments of silence before a loud scream came from inside the room, followed by an annoyed groan seconds before the door opened quickly, and ended with another groan from the plastic on her face and feet. Lilith stared at them, her eyes filled with rage, she was about to say something when Shannon spoke, "Happy birthday!!", this caught Lilith completely off guard, leaving her staring at them with a confused and tired look, she nodded and went into her room once more, a few minutes passed by before the door opened once more and Lilith stepped out of the room in new clothes and with her face clean, as well as her hair down, this made it impossible for Camila to not stare at her.
Lilith walked to Mother Superion's office without saying a word to them, the rest of them simply walked behind her, waiting for her to enter the office; as soon as she did, she gasped loudly and smiled a bit, inside, Mother Superion and Father Vincent were standing behind the desk, which had a cake on top of it, with Lilith's name on it. A few tears threatened to leave her eyes, but she was able to contain them, she smiled and lowered her head as a few tears finally fell. "Thank you", she whispered.
They stayed in the office for a while, eating cake, they hadn't eaten anything else, so this was something hard for both Lilith and Beatrice, but they did it anyways, feeling good as soon as they tasted the cake, which was delicious. Once they finished their unhealthy but well deserved breakfast, Camila took Lilith's hand and led her to her room, "I have something for you, hold on", she said as she looked around her room to find the flowers, she spotted them on her desk and took them, Camila handed them to Lilith and smiled shyly, she couldn't bring herself to look at her friend when she had her hair down. Lilith took the flowers and smiled, Camila decided to look at her, finding Lilith looking really happy, she was smiling more than usual with a bit of blush on her cheeks. "Thanks, Cam", the taller girl said as she looked at her friend, Camila simply nodded and smiled back.
Shannon appeared out of nowhere and threw a balloon with water to Lilith, hitting her back and causing her to get wet, "Shannon! I just changed clothes!", Lilith yelled before starting to run in Shannon's direction, Camila running behind her, "You're doing my laundry for two weeks because of this!", Lilith said once she caught Shannon, making the Halo bearer laugh. Lilith started to laugh too, followed by Camila's giggle.
She then realized why they had eaten cake so early, Lilith hadn't had the chance to be a normal kid who did kid stuff, maybe that was why Beatrice reacted like Lilith to the cake situation, both girls were robbed of their childhood, so Shannon had made it her job to get them to enjoy at least one day. She couldn't wait for Bea's birthday. And maybe she should worry about hers.
