Chapter 6

It was around ten the next morning when Peter woke up. He looked around and realized he must have fallen asleep during the movie last night. As he was about to get up to go to his room Tony walked into the room.

“Good morning sleepy.” He said playfully.

“Good morning Mr. Stark.” Peter replied groggily.

“Banner and I were about to go down to work on some things in the lab but Steve and the others are up here if you need anything and you can always have Fri call down. And make sure you get something to eat.” Tony said before going towards the elevator.

Peter stood up realizing just how sore he was, he made his way to the kitchen hoping to not run into anyone. His hopes were fulfilled as he grabbed a muffin from the counter before going to his room to eat.

Peter had finished his muffin and was going to get a shower but when he opened the shower curtain he was met with the site of the wadded-up bloody towel still sitting on the shower floor.

He quickly grabbed it and put it in the trash bin trying to push down the memories of how it became that way. He got undressed and in the shower as the water hit his skin it felt like his entire body was on fire but he liked the pain in a way it was comforting. He had gotten out of the shower craving a blade even more than when he got in. His eyes lingered over the box when the voice taunted

“It helped before what's one more time.”

“No.” Peter said out loud wanting to try and fight his own thoughts at the same time as wanting to give in. He stood there just staring when he had the idea to see if Bucky could come up. He had said he could talk to him, but what if he was only being nice he thought.

He doesn't actually want you to bother him.”Voice said reiterating his fears,

But before he could change his mind he asked Friday to ask Bucky to come up if he could. He went and sat on his bed waiting for him to come up.

“Do you know how desperate this is right?”

He was trying to ignore the voice when a knock came to the door.

“Come in.”He said, knowing it was Bucky.

“Hey Peter, Friday said you wanted me. You okay?” Bucky asked as he entered the room.

“Yeah I mean no but that's why I had her call you.” Peter replied, stuttering over his words.

“Okay, then what's going on?”He asked.

Don't tell him.”The voice commanded but Peter tried to ignore it.

“I want to cut again. I know it’s stupid and I shouldn’t want to but it's hard not to.” He said in a small voice refusing eye contact

“I'm proud of you for calling for me. Is there a specific reason?” Bucky asked calmly.

“I don’t know I was in the shower and the pain reminded me of it.” He replied shakingly.

“Okay Peter, you want to tell me where you keep your blades?” Bucky asked, trying to gauge how he could help.

Don’t tell him he's going to take them.” The voice echoed in his head.

“Do I have to?” Peter questioned.

“I mean no you don’t, I’m just asking you so that I can help keep you safe.” He stated honestly.

“Under the sink in a box.” Peter said quickly before he could change his mind.

“Thank you for telling me, is it okay if I move them out of the room? It’s your choice.”Bucky asked

Don’t do it. He is never going to give them back. What if you need them again.” The voice argued.

Peter nodded his head while he fidgeted with the blanket on the bed trying to not be convinced that he was making a mistake by his own thoughts. Bucky walked into the bathroom to grab the blades when he saw the bloody towel in the trash can, the site made his stomach turn knowing that Peter had most likely relapsed already but he was going to ask as he didn’t want to assume.

“I'm going to go put this somewhere then I'll be right back okay?” He asked from the doorway.

“Okay.”Peter replied

Why would you let him take them? It’s pathetic really asking him for help. He probably has better things to do than be your personal therapist.” The voice boomed in his head, almost making him regret his decision.

‘Did I make a mistake?’ He thought to himself as he waited for Bucky to come back.

Bucky knocked before coming back into the room and standing near the foot of his bed.

“I have to ask, have you already relapsed?” He asked frankly, wanting to get the question out of the way.

Peter was anxious he didn’t want Tony to find out but he knew that Bucky probably already knew.

“Promise you won't tell Mr. Stark.” Peter almost begged.

“Of course whatever we talk about stays between us unless you say otherwise.” Bucky assured him.

“Then yes, yesterday before dinner. Everything just got too much.” He answered honestly.

“Okay that's okay thank you for being honest with me. None are too deep right?” Bucky asked.

“No.” He answered shortly.

“Okay you want to come down with me and watch a movie to distract you, or maybe we could try some of that breathing stuff Sam’s always talking about.” Bucky asked lightly.

“Yeah, maybe we could watch something up here though. I don’t really want to go down there right now, everyone keeps staring at me.”Peter replied anxiously.

“Yeah we can do that. Do you have any favorite movies?” He asked, making his way to sit on the foot of his bed.

“Maybe something Star wars?” Peter replied with a small grin.

“Sure whatever you want.” Bucky replied.

Peter had set up the movie and Bucky and him just sat and watched it together until dinner. Peter’s craving slowly dissipated as they did. He most definitely wasn't better after getting through one time but he hoped it was a start.
