Chapter 2

Tony's POV

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tony wasn't exactly sure when Peter seemed to lose his spark, the shift was so gradual it wasn't until the 'old Peter' was gone did it first become apparent.

Tony wantedto ask if he was ok, to let him know he realised something wasn't right and that he was always gonna be there for support.

But the issue is Tony had absolutely no idea how to broach the subject with the kid. I mean it's hardly surprising since it's not like his parents were exactly good at recognising all the shit he dealt with as a teenager, let alone providing any kind of support or comfort.

No, Tony was expected to deal with everything by himself and 'man up' (god he hated that phrase). Unsurprisingly, this hadn't left Tony in a good position whatsoever to deal with a desperately struggling teen, the one positive, he reasoned, was that at least he could spot that he was struggling. That had to count for something, right?

After a while of both questioning what to do and procrastination in actually doing it. He eventually settled on trying to spend more time with the kid, until he could figure out a proper plan on how to help him. Hopefully that way Peter would initiate the conversation himself, he was terrified that by doing so he would get uncomfortable and close up.

His first plan of action was a movie night. Peter was constantly rambling on about those Star Wars movies whenever they were in the lab so he hoped it could do something to bring back the spark in his eyes.

He nervously (fuck why was he nervous they were just watching a movie together) made his way up to Peters room and knocked

“Hey kiddo, I was thinking we could order some pizza and watch one of those Star Wars movies you keep going on about, that sound like a plan?”

No reply.

“Cmon underoos, I know full well you've been hiding out in your room recently.”

Once again no noise came from his room.

“Don't shit me Spiderling, if you're not out in 3 I will kick down this door.” He said with a note of panic appearing in his usually steady voice.

Nothing.

“3, 2, 1”

“You left me no choice”

The sound of splintering wood erupted from the silence as Tony burst through the door.

He quickly surveyed the room, panic hastily bubbling up inside him.

It was completely dark and deserted other than the small stream of light coming from his bathroom.

Shit

Was he already too late?

Nonononononononono

He couldn't be, the kid was all he had, hecouldn't lose the kid.

After what felt like hours, but in reality was probably nothing more than a few seconds, he slowly pushed open the door

“No-”
