Prologue

Earth-616 had only one Spider-Man.

Peter B. Parker.

That was the accepted truth.

Yet… things change.

And it seemed Earth-616 had another Spider person that was scampering around. No one was really aware because they were completely different in trajectory from New York.

Not only that, when they became a web-crawler, Peter had been Spider-Man for over a decade. So it seemed to be out of nowhere. And well, maybe it was. This Spider person seemed to have the strangest luck.

So what exactly happened?

About ten years ago, a curious fourteen year old student wandered away from the tour group during a field trip to one of the biggest companies in Detroit. Where they wandered led them to come across a rather quick spider, who was curious about the student. Warning signs be damned, the student reached out for the spider, letting it crawl onto their arm.

When the spider’s small fangs dug into their skin, the student didn’t really notice, more curious about the little spider on their hand. It looked like a typical crab spider, this one simply a small white one that the student would see on flowers here and there. Though, after the bite, the spider seemed to wither, slipping from the students hand, and dying as it hit the floor, much to their shock.

They didn’t know how such a small little bite would change their life as they headed back to their group.

That student’s name?

Riley Rowe.

When the next day came, their glasses and frames offered no alleviation from their blurry sight. Instead, they saw clearly for the first time without the aid of their glasses. They felt lighter than air, and better than they had in ages.

While finding out they gained abilities didn’t happen in that moment, the second they discovered they could stick to walls, Riley decided they wanted to do something.

Which led to the creation of Earth-616’s second spider-person.

Mega-Byte.

The only real issue being… in the big web of universes, in this monitoring of canon, how did Riley seem to slide under the radar?

How did news of another spider not reach Peter?

And perhaps the biggest question.

Were they even a good hero?
