First Day of Work

"Glad that you came to help us out."

"Not a problem. I'd be happy to help out a friend of mine." Yang smiled as she puts the apron on. Tying it. She wears the hat as well. Yang looks at her friend Weiss.

Yang decided to get a job at Starbucks where Weiss works at. It's the only Starbucks that Yang really goes to in Atlas.

"Okay so, teach me the basics." Yang said confidently.

"Basically don't be stupid." Weiss said. Yang rolled her eyes. Weiss gave Yang a coffee cup.

"You've made coffee before. Try making your favorite and I'll judge by watching you." Weiss said. Yang nods. She looks at all the equipment.

"Er... no coffee maker? Why is it so complicated!" Yang complained. Not even sure where to start. Weiss sighed and guided Yang, naming all the equipment and what they do.

Suddenly the bell rings. "Why don't you come with me and watch me?" Weiss suggested. Yang nods and followed Weiss to the counter. Seeing a woman with black wavy hair. She has a beanie and a hoodie. Her skin is brown. She has... really pretty amber eyes.

"Ah good morning Blake! The regular I presume?" Blake huh... she's pretty.

"Mornin. Yep." Blake smiled. Weiss nods and had Blake pay before making her order. Yang glances at Blake who was looking at her phone.

"Is she a regular?" Yang questioned. Weiss nodded.

"Yep. She's here everyday to study for a few hours."

"She comes to a Coffee Cafe for tea everyday?" Yang eyed at Weiss, who shrugged. Another customer enters. "Why don't you give this to her while I take the other's order?" Weiss asked as she gave tea to Yang. She looks at the girl.

"Hey. Beautiful. Your tea is ready." Yang called out, giving the drink to Blake, who stared at Yang, blinking a bit.

"Beautiful...?" Oh my god Blake has a cute voice. Yang gulped.

"W-Well yeah! I- I think you're cute." Yang nervously laughed before she got smacked behind her head by the short girl.

"Quit flirting with the customer!" Weiss shouts.

"Ow! Not my fault that the regular customer is cu-"

"She new?" Blake had a smile. Weiss nods. "Well, you know my name so..." Blake looks at Yang's name tag. "It's nice to meet you Yang." Blake smiled before going to the table, where she grabbed a seat, getting her laptop, notebook, and a pencil to work on something. Yang was sure her heart was pounding.

"She's pretty..." Yang mumbled.

"Yang, you useless lesbian. First customer of the day and you're already drooling over a girl." Weiss chuckled.

"Sh-Shut up!"

It was the next day and Yang sees Blake again. This time she has her beanie off. She worn a baggy pant and turtle neck sweater. She looks really adorable. Then... Oh. Two ears... on her head.

"Oh. You're a faunus...?" Yang blinked. Blake stares at Yang, her ears folding back.

"Don't say things like that! What are you? An idiot!? That can be offensive!" Weiss shouts. Yang panicked.

"Oh shit- I'm sorry! I'm rarely see faunus around. So it just surprised me." Yang apologized. Blake sighed. She ordered her drink and waited. Weiss pulled Yang aside.

"What the hell was that?!"

"I said I was sorry! Why are you s-"

"This is the only Cafe that Blake feels safe in." Weiss got straight to the point. Yang stares at Weiss.

"Only?"

Weiss sighed. "You know that Atlas is known for their racism of faunus. Blake lives in Atlas to get a good education. Which comes with risks. I sometimes see that poor girls with bruises. She'd tell me she got beat up. We're the only good Cafe that accepts faunus. Which... is why we don't get a lot of customers. But that's fine." Weiss explained. Yang felt guilty.

"Damn. But I said I was sorry."

"I know." Weiss huffed out. She took a deep breath. "Just go do the customer's orders. While I talk to Blake." Weiss asked before she went over to where Blake was sitting at. Talking. Yang was taking the orders from the customers. Making their drink. But she finds herself glancing at Blake occasionally.

Blake was smiling and nodding at Weiss who talked.

Yang didn't realize she added too much milk to the coffee. She panicked. "Damnit..." Yang groans before redoing the order. She then noticed Weiss next to her.

"I talked with her. You're lucky that she's understanding and nice. Please don't ask sensitive questions like that again." Weiss warned Yang.

For a short woman, Weiss was scary sometimes. Yang had her hands up while laughing nervously.

"Got it, Ice Queen."

"Quit calling me that!"

Yang stuck her tongue at Weiss before making coffee. She watches Blake typing on her computer while drinking her tea. Her ears were relaxed. Or, she thinks?

"Yang! Quit staring!"

"Okay! I'm s- WOULD YOU QUIT SMACKING ME?!"

Blake looks over her computer. Seeing the two bicker at each other. It made her chuckled. Must be good friends. The blondie is... intresting.

"Hey beautiful"

Blake jumped at the sudden movement of the table. She looked over her computer, seeing that blonde girl sitting across her.

"Uh... hello...?" Blake mumbles. "Can I help you...?"

"Well I'm on break and I decided to use it by getting to know you. Since you're our regular customer." Yang smiled. Noticing Blake seemed weirded out. The blondie sighed.

"Look. I'm sorry for what I said this morning. Like I said, I rarely see them around. I think I was still half asleep." Yang apologized. Blake blinks before closing her computer, stretching. "A-Ah sorry. I can leave you alone if you don't want to be bothered."

"It's fine." Blake quickly responded. "I need a break anyways. Been working nonstop."

"What are you studying?"

"Health stuff. I'm trying to get a good degree and become a nurse. Hopefully. Or an EMT." Blake showed her notes to Yang who just looks like she introduced the worse math problems.

"Wow... you must be very smart! Even... if I don't understand a single thing on that note." Yang was impressed. Blake felt her cheeks turn pink.

"Thank you. I've been working hard."

"I can tell. I don't think I would've been able to do stuff like that." Yang chuckles. Blake gazes at Yang. She notices that Yang is always smiling. It's like she's looking at a ray of sunshine.

"So uh... tea. You come to a coffee shop for tea?"

"I can't have coffee. So I have tea instead." Blake answered. Yang let out a hum.

"Is it because y-" Yang stops herself. Blake's ears perk up in curiosity.

"Because of what?"

"Nothing. I don't want to be offensive." Yang brushed it off.

"Yes. It's because I'm a cat. It's not good for me at least." Blake answered. Yang eyes widened in surprise.

"How did yo-"

"Yang, I've been asked that so many times, I knew what you were asking."

"Oh. Sorry." Yang was hitting herself mentally. Why is she so awkward with Blake?! Yang was good with people! Why is she awful at this?!

"Are you a friend of Weiss?"

"Huh? Oh yeah I am. Weiss and I have known each other since freshman year. She's a good friend of my younger sister." Yang grins. Making Blake smile as well as she closes her eyes, chuckling.

"I see. If, you don't mind me asking, why do you call her ice queen?"

"Oh because she likes her coffee and tea iced. Also cause she's cold when she wants too. Physically and verbally." Yang could hear Weiss scoff in the background.

"It's good that Weiss has a friend. That makes me happy."

"Yeah..." it came to an awkward silent. Yang looks around. She glances at Blake's arm. Noticing a bruise below the wrist. Which Blake hides by pulling her sleeve down further.

"Hey... you can always come to me if you're in danger or you need someone to be with. I'm more then happy to company with you." Yang offered.

"Huh?"

"Here- let me..." Yang steals a note sticker & pencil from Blake and wrote down her phone number, before giving it to Blake. "Call me whenever."

Blake holds the note sticker. Still surprised by Yang's offer. She was about to say something till Weiss yelled out saying that Yang's break is over.

"I'll see you later or tomorrow. Thanks for the conversation!" Yang waves before hopping out of her seat and heading back to work.

Blake looks at the note sticker. Seeing the phone number and a small doodle of her attempt at drawing herself, with a heart.

Blake smiles to herself. Yang isn't so bad after all, she's pretty tall, Blake realized. It would certainly make her feel safe out in the streets and not having to look over her shoulders every second just to make it home safely.

Blake enters the phone number in her phone. Soon texting Yang.

Thx for the offer. I'll keep it in mind.

To her surprise, Yang replied quickly.

ofc, anything for miss beautiful <3

Flirt. Blake rolls her eyes while smiling. "Geez." Blake chuckled before she opens her laptop, continuing her work. She did feel pretty refreshed after that break.
