Chapter 5
"God Dammit!" I yelled when I landed on the ground, wanting to vomit. I steeled myself and looked up - maybe... nope. Kakashi and Inoichi came right along with me. Still wasn't dead. I ignored their puzzled looks for the time being and looked around. My breath caught. My neighborhood. If the old trees were old memories, and the new trees were new memories...
Conclusion: I was an idiot. I watched as the door to the coffee shop across the street opened and I, past me, trotted out. I could hear the distant revving on some idiot in a car trying to show off, and everything seemed to slow down. Past me looked both ways before walking across the street, sipping her coffee and looking at a cute dog. The car suddenly turned a corner and...
I looked away. The squelch of whatever was happening made me gag, and I quickly glanced over at me in morbid curiosity. I gagged again, but nothing came out. My body was strewn on the pavement, half of one of my legs and an arm flung aside, blood staining the pavement. I checked my arm and leg for the first time and noticed that they looked like they were messily stitched together. I flexed my arm and noticed the pull of the stitches, revealing muscles underneath. I looked away, nauseous, but a cloaked figure that I didn't remember seeing drifted close to my body, and I gave into my curiosity. I watched as the androgynous figure crouched down and stuck their hands IN MY TORSO. INSIDE. MY TORSO.
They pulled their hands out, but instead of being covered in blood, they were weirdly clean. The figure pulled their hands out, an odd silvery, yet opaque, substance in its grasp. It gave off large wisps of what looked like pale steam. The pervert who stuck their hands in a dead body proceeded to ball up the silvery thing (was that my soul?) until it formed a dense sphere and fling it into the sky. Yeah, you heard me right. The weirdo (the grim reaper?) fucking tweeted my soul into the abyss. They the proceeded to brush off their hands and meander away like he didn't just throw me into another universe, like he was congratulating themselves for a job well done. What the fuck.
And then, for the third fucking time that day, I was falling, falling, falling.
I think I was a bit frustrated.
"Well," Inoichi said, breaking the silence. "That was... an experience."
Oh yeah. They were there. They saw all of the foreign buildings and cars, things that weren't part of the Naruto world, and the weirdo who stuck their hands in a dead body. They also saw me get turned into a crayon, so there was that going for me too.
"I've never seen anything this before. The fact that your chakra is so entwined but still separated, and your minds are..." he trailed off, lost in thought. "And she's from an entirely different world as well! I must inform the Hokage immediately.
Something in that sentence caught my attention. "I have chakra?" I questioned.
Inoichi stared at me."Another language..." he said, amazed. Oh, right.
"I have... chakra?" I questioned again. I definitely had an accent, but at least I could speak the language. Kind of.
"Of course! All living and non-living things have some level of chakra, including you. Was this.. not the case in your old world?"
It hurt a bit hearing him say "old world", but I ignored it and shrugged. "No."
His eyes widened and he looked like he wanted to ask a million more questions, but Kakashi, who had been silent so far, spoke up.
"So... can we get rid of her? No offense, but I'd rather not have... this."
Inoichi shrugged. "This is totally unprecedented. I'll have to check the clan archives, but for now I can put her to sleep and restore control to your body. She won't die," he said, seeing my hopeful look. I drooped. "But it should prevent any possible side effects. She'll be asleep for about a month; you have a week before you take team 7, so you should be fine. If anything odd happens, come to me immediately. You know where I'll be."
Kakashi nodded, and I felt the disappointment, annoyance, and relief. I, on the other hand, just wanted to go to sleep. Preferably permanently. I just needed to process everything, come to terms with whatever this is, and try and think of a plan, although we all knew how great those were.
"Put me... Put me to sleep," I said, my heavy accent making me cringe. Inoichi nodded, although he looked like he wanted to interview me on what my world was like. It wasn't everyday that you came across someone from another world who was flung over by some weirdo.
He placed his hand on my forehead and I blacked out. Again.
