To My Favourite Slytherin

It started at Valentine’s Day. Severus received a small, anonymous parcel with a green ribbon, so modest even his usually perceptive housemates didn’t take notice of it. It contained twenty cauldron-shaped pieces of dark chocolate and a note that said: I think you are cute.

Severus threw the parcel away, being sure it was a prank.

The next gift came a week later. He entered the library to study at the usual time and headed for the table he frequented; a remote spot just behind the not-very-popular astronomy book section.

There, on the chair of his regular study table, laid a small bundle of molies. Attached to them was an even smaller hand-drawn card featuring a black bird – possibly a crow or a raven. Very ravenclawy.

First Severus thought someone had forgotten the bundle there. It certainly was the most likely option.

Then the writing on the card caught his attention.

To my favourite Slytherin.

He hovered over the flowers for a few seconds, unsure what to do. Were those for him? It seemed unlikely. On the other hand, he had received a gift on Valentine’s… He stared at the bouquet, like it could talk to him. It would be rude to throw away someone else’s flowers, wouldn’t it?

In the end he transferred the flowers to the nearest windowsill and hoped whoever had forgotten them would find them and take them away.

But that wasn’t the end of it. No. The gifts kept coming. And, as reluctant as Severus was to admit it at first, it became very evident when the gifts kept becoming more elaborate and the cards more personal.

Someone was courting him.
