The tight turnaround time for the Werewolf legislation led Hermione to take the work home. Of course, Cat!Draco had to help. She was hopeless without him.
She liked to pace when she read.
So she didn’t notice until the sun was in her eyes and there was a fresh breeze that she was out in the garden, slamming the door, leaving Cat!Draco behind and alone in the apartment. (They lived on the ground floor.)
It was such a beautiful day that she decided to make the most of it and read outside for a bit.
When Hermione was finally done, she was feeling nippish, so she rode her bike into town to grab a fresh loaf of bread and a coffee.
As she entered the front door, she heard a low growling sound. Guttural. Almost human.
Holding her loaf of bread like a wand, she followed the noise.
It was Lynx clawing manically at the backyard door, making strange noises that almost sounded like “Granger. Granger,” trying to get outside.
She gasped, dropping the bread.
Lynx turned around, noticing her. His eyes widened.
“Meow!”
