Note
So just some heads up, in this story Harry is not James's son just his students, and also a bunch of characters like Ginny, Ron, and Hermione are students at this uni, and ik this doesn't match the timeline of anything but since when the marauders fandom was canon

meetings and greetings

"Sirius you can't just be throwing me into this college just because your brother works there! honestly, I don't need a job! I'm just about to start a band of my own!" James barked as he glared at Sirius from his bed.

Sirius was sick of seeing James do nothing in his life but eat and sleep at his apartment. And then complain about how he cannot bring other men home because he was sleeping, but he could play loud guitar anytime he wanted?

This was not happening.

Sirius couldn't comprehend what James was thinking anyway. He graduated college as a law major. As a fucking professor of legal and social sciences but insists on starting a band and teaching high school kids as a band teacher.

"Listen it's the best for you, plus I talked to my brother about this. You will have to thank me. I used my distance relationships and Regulus's head of the English department to get you into this" Sirius said standing up from the leather armchair to scoot himself closer to James.

"It's not like I can't get the job anyway," James said hazily gazing at the sunset outside of Sirius's apartment.

"You nearly" Sirius signed in hopelessness "Robbed an art gallery"

"That was one time!" James explained burying his face into a pillow "And it was a joke"

"A joke?" The black-haired boy hissed "You nearly got sent to prison you dingleberry"

"Well, how is this job gonna make my life better by any means?" James questioned then sat up in his bed eyes furrowed "Your brother?"

"I mean it's better than just pissing me off every day isn't it Prongs" Sirius confessed. He truly thinks he needs to do something or else he may or may not end up with his apartment exploded in two weeks' time.

"Fine ill do it for god's sake." James finally accepted defeat although secretly he wished he could do what he liked for a living which is starting a successful band and just traveling across the world performing "When does this job start?"

"Tomorrow."

James gazed at the calendar, September 1st marked in red.

"What? I have no time to prepare for anything!"

"Good luck" Sirius laughed "Now if you excuse me I have to go for a beer"

James woke up bright and early the next day. He hasn't woken up this early since high school.

He checked the clock, it was barely 5 pm but he liked to be obnoxiously early for things so he can calm himself down. Besides the college was 2 hours away from Sirius's apartment. Apparently, the college was in central London.

James did his usual prep to look the nicest as possible from his usual homeless record of dressing.

He shaved his ever-so weird-looking beard and turned it into a stache then hated it and shaved it all off. Took a shower, and used Sirius's expensive shampoo that he told him not to use but oh well. Gelled his hair so that it was all combed back. Leaving a strand loose for the usual rocker look that he dearly missed.

He had a feeling he was gonna pay dearly for his sins.

Put on some cologne that some girl said smelled nice and he bought it just because of that. Honestly, he blames Sirius for taking him to cosmetics shops like that. He's so easily persuaded by the ladies there.

Then came picking clothes which James found extremely dreading. He took out all of his t-shirts and realized they are all bands' names or cartoon-printed ones. Then he realized he didn't have a good pair of trousers that weren't baggy jeans. So he looked through Sirius's closet and found some pieces that could possibly work. He found a simple white blouse and then realized Sirius had cut all of the buttons to make it a chest-revealing one. Clearly, Sirius was the right person to be borrowing clothes for work.

Half an hour later he chose a simple gray shirt with some gray jeans.

Yes if it sounds miserable it's because it is.

He made himself a cup of tea and grabbed himself some chocolate cookies to eat, he still liked to eat like a five-year-old. He ate fast because of his nerves but then regretted it immediately when he felt bloated. But he grabbed his big gray backpack and headed out the door. Only not to realize Sirius had woken up from all the nose he made picking out his clothes.

"Good luck, golden twat" Sirius whispered. And smiled at the closing door.

James manages to catch the bus just in time. The cold rain started falling just when he got on, and the cold air whistled in his ear when the bus started speeding off to its destination. James couldn't really think about what he was doing but he was so delirious that he just accepted his fate. He put on his headphones and started listening to his favorite song of all time. Only to realize after a few songs later the bus had arrived at the stop where he was gonna get off.

He swallowed nervously as he got off the double-decker bus. And glazing at the mystical building up ahead. From his research last night it was built in the 1700s so the building was quite old aged. But he liked it. He walked to the entrance and glared at the sign.

Eastford College est. 1785

Feeling nervous about the fancy name he sighed and headed to the head to one of the minister's offices to sign in for his first day. Waiting at the office he saw a glance of a dark-haired boy with curly hair he looked quite similar to Sirius. But then he was distracted by an old lady greeting him.

"Hello, I'm Dr. MinervaMcGonagall. You are here to sign in yes? come in quickly" She gave him a kind enough smile and then let him into his office.

He glanced around the room, it was filled with little drawings that seemed like students drew for her over the years. James didn't realize he was such a sweet woman because her stern look said otherwise.

"Want some toffy?" She kindly offered.

And James grabbed a tiny piece and chewed on it.

"You are James Potter yes? offering for music professor and a recommendation from the head of the English department?"

"Yes, Dr. McGonagall" James responded shyly though she responded always with kind smiles.

"Call me Minnie dear, years and years being called Dr. is quite exhausting. A little introduction, I'm Minerva, head of the Physics department, used to be in Chemistry though. I double majored. Anyway, you'll be teaching first and third years students for now, if you do well you might get promoted to be in the school orchestra as a conductor or you can teach higher years depending on your skill set. Here's your timetable, because you are still new he only gave you two to three classes per day. And four days a week. And your classroom is right by the English 101 classroom. If you need help Dr. Black is there to help you. He's always early on his shifts. He might be organizing paperwork by now. If you have any questions go ask the visual arts professor, Pandora. She is the head of the art department after all that's where you belong. Have I made myself clear?

"Yes, Minne. Thank you for the toffy!" James gave a kind soft smile before heading out of her office.

"Your welcome sweetheart, wish you all the best!" Minnie smiled in return and head back to work.

The rest of the day went on just as normal. He got to his classroom and organized and polished all the hundred-year-old things he was given. The classroom was different from all the college or university classrooms he had seen. It was quite empty, except for a few chairs and a large blackboard with imprinted lines for writing music compositions. But he wrote on the other blank blackboard.

James Potter (New professor!)

The topic of the day: Guitars and toning with them.

He sat down and organized his papers for the last time and looked at the clock. It was almost nine-thirty the start of his first class. He collected himself quickly before he saw students walking down the hall ready to enter his classroom. One curious student peaked in.

"Sorry is this music 505?" She asked. She had long blond hair and light blue eyes. She dressed quite well James thought. Because she was wearing a flowy periwinkle dress.

"Yep, it's this one" James responded kindly. Though his hands were sweating because of how much stress he had because of fear that his students would not like his class at all.

"Lovely thanks" She turned around to greet a firey redhead who was a bit taller than her.

"Is this your classroom" The redhead laughed "Right next to mine! what a coincidence"

They both babbled in excitement.

Then the bell rang, and with that students stormed into his classroom. He was surprised at how small of a group they were. No more than 30 students.

After waiting for the long-dreaded silence, James started to talk.

"Hullo, I'm James, ill be your music teacher for this year, or semester. As you can tell I'm a newbie so please bare with me or I might cry in the corner."

The students laughed at his presentation, he gained confidence.

In a sea of voices, he heard a bland comment from a curly-haired girl.

"Finally we get a hot professor like the English majors! and not some old balding professor who just throws work at us."

James did not know to cry or to laugh.

"So today class, as you can see we will be playing electric guitars! they are my favorite to play and it's all good fun. For those who don't know how to play you can grab any instrument of choice and follow along. But for the guitarists, it's your lucky day."

All the students smiled in relief that it was a practical session.

Meanwhile, in the other classroom, it was a more serious approach.

"Hello, students. Im Dr. Regulus Black your English professor for this year." He looked extremely stern and his eyes stabbed daggers whilst he looked at the sea of students before him "I have only one rule, and that is to keep your voice down. Also that you turn in your work on time. Any work that is turned in after the time given will be dismissed. And I don't tolerate funny business. So for all the jokesters in this class, I'm sorry for you."

"I think I'm gonna have a bad year" whispered the firey redhead to herself. Face full of concern.

"You're not the only one" Responded a dark-haired boy with bright green eyes "I am Harry, I offer as the best mate for the hunger games being an English major?"

"Ginny," She stuck out his hand to shake his "Glad to meet someone to die in hell"

"Today will be learning about the basics of analyzing poems. Just a revision of high school material, then you'll get three poems to analyze then three for homework. I'll post all the selected poems online and a document of all the important things you need to do it. I expect it done by tomorrow. You do need to turn it in, it doesn't have a grade it's just to see your levels" Regulus addressed. His voice was soft yet powerful.

"I heard this is the hottest professor, you think it's true Harold?" Ginny asked just to defuse the ever-so-growing tension in the class.

"I don't know about hot but he sure is scary" Harry responded taking notes quickly about everything he said so far.

"So first things first analyzing a poem is-

The class just went on and on and on. With Harry checks his clock every five minutes and occasional laughter coming from the other classroom.

The laughter seemed to have interrupted Regulus several times but he seemed to have ignored them until he heard loud guitar from next door.

"And with that, we conclude this," He looked at his classroom door face deep in thought, or was it anger, he furrowed his brows and said "Whos the music professor this year?"

Ginny raised her hand because of her friend. The blonde girl, Luna had told her the name as her professor figured on her timetable.

"Sir, its James Potter. He is new."

"It seems so. Class waits a moment please I need to keep quiet when I'm teaching." Regulus said sternly as he walked out of the room.

Harry and Ginny exchanged worried glances.

He knocked on James's classroom door which seems to be open. And James was playing the electric guitar smiling and he whipped around to see his newfound coworker leaning against the door frame.

"Professor James Potter yes?" Regulus called out glaring at James thinking it would scare him but James just smirked making him flinch.

"Yes, what's the matter? you need background music for Hamlet?" James joked but Regulus wasn't laughing.

Regulus swallowed and entered his classroom so he could be in closer proximity to James.

"You look so much like my best friend it's insane, can I take a picture?"

James didn't quite sense danger at any time.

Regulus whispered something near his ear so his students wouldn't hear his words.

"Im your best friend's brother you wanker, now close the door or else I will advise Minerva that you cant keep your class voice down"

"Reggie! you could have told me earlier"

The students held their laugh at the nickname.

"I'll close the door dearest, sorry"

Regulus only stared then turned his head sideways to glare at James.

He could see students are slowly getting invested in their business but still wanted to piss James off for ruining his usual silent classes.

"How are you qualified to be a professor?"

The class went silent.

"Er.. charisma I suppose. I'm good with kids and Im-

"Enough. Come to my office at 3 pm this afternoon, id like a chat." Regulus whipped his long curly hair and went out the room closing the door with a loud bang.

"Nice first-day innit?"
