Note
So just some heads up, in this story Harry is not James's son just his students, and also a bunch of characters like Ginny, Ron, and Hermione are students at this uni, and ik this doesn't match the timeline of anything but since when the marauders fandom was canon

heart thief

The weather was just as miserable as James's mood for the afternoon.

In James's chaotic thoughts, mother nature decided to piss herself in the wrong moment, or was it the right?

James hated the rain, well actually he did like it but when he's in a good mood and with someone to accompany him, sitting alone in his classroom eating lunch-dinner wasn't really quite what he intended when he imagined himself as an actual professor. He hates being alone and well lucky for him the only professor staying this afternoon was Regulus. So he rather eats alone than see those scary gray eyes again.

He'd only see those eyes on Sirius when he was really really mad at him. Like intolerable mistakes, or according to Sirius dumb mistakes he had made over the years. Then his deep blue eyes will turn greyish. But Regulus's eyes were much much different. First, they were lighter than Sirius's so it made them quite intimidating, and second of all they were more green-blue than deep dark blue. James thought that that made be the way to tell them apart, apart from all the personality bullshit. Sirius's eyes were scary, but kind and inviting. Regulus just stared into your soul and didn't linger any emotion or thought. They were.. blank.

And as much as James wanted to like those pairs of eyes to try and make a co-worker friend he just could not get over how stressed it made him feel like he knew what was going on in his head. Or maybe Regulus could read minds who knows?

But now he just feels like a rat eating sadly alone. He didn't bring lunch and had to get the miserable two-pound salad at the cafeteria, and for a boy that ate home-cooked delicious meals every day, this was not good.

He finished eating and packed his things to go to the classroom next door to the supposed meeting he had with Regulus.

But he didn't knock before entering, and he found a dumbfounded Regulus smiling at his phone. What was he smiling about?

James couldn't believe his own eyes that he actually was not scary for once. And sat down quietly across him, crossed his elbows like a toddler, laid on his desk, and stared up at him.

Regulus had finally noticed James's appearance quickly stuffed his phone back into his bag and put on a bland expression.

James opened his mouth to talk but Regulus opened his first so it just made James smirk and laid back down at his desk.

The black-haired boy bit his lip and started "I still don't think you are qualified for the job" he fidgeted with his rings, James loved his rings very much "I dought your anything but professional" Regulus flinched at James because he was staring him with big puppy eyes he didn't know how to deal with "When Sirius asked me I thought I was for another person, as in a law major. Not you"

"Ah," James said gloomily.

"What?" Regulus asked confused.

"That's why Sirius told me he used his distance relationships. And he also told me you always disliked me. So I think that you're getting a little too personal innit and that you should see me as a normal and professional professor. Also, for the record I am a law major, have they never told you to not judge a book by its cover or you've been wronged by your parents"

Regulus tilted his head, but his face suddenly went ill.

"Hey Reg? are you listening seems like you are leaving me on read?"

"Sorry, I just- er- had a bad thought" Regulus muttered, still not looking good.

Then James remembered. Oh, their parents are probably the opposite of what parents should be. Sirius and James met at law school, but Sirius didn't go there by choice, he was forced. So obviously he would drop out. His parents were furious and said that he would not make a good lord, whatever that meant so James decided that he would go live at his place. Sirius said that since he was heir to the fortune and family name there was a lot of pressure when he was growing up, but now Regulus was the one to make up for it. Sirius told Regulus to cut ties with them a long time ago but Regulus never did. Saying he felt bad for them whatever.

Sirius said it was his weakness. Guilt-tripping. He wasn't a go-getter like Sirius, he was more so an overthinker. So naturally thinking about all the bad stuff and liking doing nothing and having no consequences than doing something and regretting it afterwards.

But Regulus didn't know that James knew this much.

The only thing he ever knew is that James and Sirius were like brothers, almost like he didn't even exist. Obviously, Sirius had told him for the millionth time it wasn't that way, but from so much negativity he became self continuous. Therefore hated James's arse.

"Why do you hate me so?" James already knew the answer but I mean if he wasn't gonna try and befriend Regulus, he was going to have a bad year, plus his job wasn't going to be a smooth sail.

"I don't dislike you, Potter, you're just infuriating. Could you tell I hate noises, how could you be so cruel and be so loud when you know-

"Well I did not do it on purpose, plus I didn't know you hated loud noises. You could've told me and I would've noticed and told you." James responded naturally, Regulus hated his confidence. Hated how nice he was, and hated his smirk.

Also his glasses. Hideous.

Regulus's eye softened, but he did not do it on purpose. He was just shocked at how nice James was, didn't he hate him back as Sirius said?

"Are you used to people being mean to you?" James asked unexpectedly and leaned back in his chair, spreading his legs apart.

"No, why?"

"Cause if you expected me to go off at you I could," James smirked "Oh Regulus Arcturus Black! how could you have done this to me? I loved being loud, but I will not apologize because I'm a dickhead!" James put a hand over his head sarcastically and pretended to faint.

"Do you realize this is a serious conversation?" Regulus said hiding a smile.

But James, oh, James smiled like Regulus just made a huge mistake.

"What we are talking about work? not about Sirius, this is not a Sirius conversation" James laughed hysterically.

"I can't talk to you, without wanting to punch myself in the face," Regulus muttered coldly still trying to force himself to be slick.

"Sweetheart you have a beautiful face, don't hurt yourself for a menace like me, I'm too kind for the world" James winked at him, then left Regulus silent by grabbing his bad and heading towards the door.

"Hey!" Regulus shouted. Glaring at James when he turned to look at him.

"Anything else?"

"Wait for me."

So James indeed waited for him. And they walked out of the classroom together. Bad, really bad idea.

Pandora saw them. And immediately grinned at Regulus like it was Christmas eve.

"Having lunch together are we?" Pandora asked with a curious gaze swinging between them signaling something to Regulus that he was clearly not a fan of.

"No, uh, we were just havin' a chat. Reg, made me come into his office and tell me about some things I didn't know?"

"You came in his office?" Pandora laughed.

If you ever wonder is that if there were a fine line for artists that categorized them between geniuses and downright insane they were no such thing, because they are all a bit crazy with a sense of humor.

Lunatics, Regulus thought.

"No not that kind came, I went into his office and he asked me some work things" James somehow made the conversation worst than it already was.

"Ah." Pandora smirked "Then I shall not interrupt you. I was going to have tea with Regulus, but I guess I'll head home."

"Nono, I'll have tea with you. I'll just go and take my pills, I'm feeling sick."

Regulus made a run for his life.

"Did- did you? did-" Pandora coughed and readjusted herself "Did you do something to him? James?"

"Nothin' that I recollect"

-

Sirius was out smoking when James was heading home. He felt like today was a good day to be out scouting in the park. It was rainy and miserable just the way he liked it. When all of the sudden...

What the fuck?

Is a curly-haired handsome man, riding a motorcycle

Somehow Sirius was feeling confident to flirt that day.

"Hullo," Sirius yelled, he immediately fainted when he took off his helmet, got off his motorcycle, and bent down so his ears were at Sirius's eye level so he could listen to him speak "Do you um- do you live in this town?"

The man smiled, oh my god James needed to meet him now.

"Yes, I live ere' just down that road. Is there anythin' you lookin' fo'?

His accent, his accent! oh my god, it would be so sexy if he said his name.

"Yeah, I was just wondering if you can come over for tea?" Sirius's voice was shaking "I've got a motorcycle that I don't know how to ride," that was a lie, he knew how to ride and to ride well, he just wanted to ride another thing.

"Yeh' I could teach you. And you could ride other than me motorcycle if you'd like. I own a cafe down the street, you mind going there with me for a sec' and I'll tell my workers that I'm not available this afternoon ey?

"Yes."

Sirius said that so quickly that the man smirked.

"Get on' then"

They both got on quickly and sped to the coffee shop.

"Sorry I didn't get your name," Sirius said shyly.

"R. J. Lupin. Remus John Lupin. And yours love?" Remus asked flirtatiously

Sirius was going to last long if their conversation was this hot at all times.

"Sirius Orion Black," Sirius giggled like a little girl. He felt like one too.

"Yer' parents must've really hated yer' to put that ridiculous name" Remus laughed.

"They do, actually" He responded quickly not noticing to hold tight the red light ahead of them.

The motorcycle stopped quickly at the red light making Sirius bump into Remus really hard and making him grip his thin t-shirt Remus was wearing very hard.

"Hold on tight I don' mind love," Remus said grabbing both of Sirius's arms a putting them on his waist signaling him to grab on tight.

Remus didn't notice that Sirus was falling head over heels for him.

He needed to tell James. Now. Right Now.

"Do you like chocolate? I sell these chocolate cakes you might like, Sirius

Fuck.

"I love whip cream with chocolate cake," Sirus admitted bluntly laying his head on Remus's back.

"We don' sell whip cream' but if you'd like I can give it to yer" Remus whispered as if this was just for Sirius and Sirius only "Don' know if it tastes good but I've been eatin' pineapples lately. I need someone to try it out for me"

Why do such dirty words sound so seductive when he said them?

"Anything for you, Remus"

Yeah, Sirius wasn't going back after this.

"Me' friends call me moony, call me that will yer' since your such a lovely piece of art innit?"

"Moony," Sirius muttered, it came out whinier than intended.

"Say it again," Remus eagerly uttered.

"Moony." Sirius moaned.

"Good boy. We're here"

Sirius needed to talk to James. Urgently.
