Chapter 13
James POV:
he was so tired. He really didn’t know how to deal with this. Any of it.
Regulus was nearly impossible to talk to, closed off and evidently traumatized. Remus spent all his time fussing over Sirius (James understood that one but still). his parents were trying to stay away from Sirius so as to not trigger any sort of trauma response. Peter was just kind of there, not helping, and James was stuck entertaining him when he should be with his best friend.
James knew that wasn’t fair but he couldn’t help but be frustrated by it all. He didn’t think it could get any worse.
he was wrong. So, so wrong.
Currently he was holding onto remus’s hands while he was blaming himself for Sirius getting injured. James tried to reassure his friend. It wasn’t his fault. James knew that, deep down, but right now all could think about was the fact that Sirius had gotten hurt because he’d left him alone with Remus.
He sighed.
”this sucks mate.”
”yeah. It really does.” Remus responded.
” I just… I feel trapped. I want to help him but there’s nothing I can do…”
remus nodded in agreement.
silence settled over the room and the welcomed it, allowing it to stretch over them like a blanket.
James’ gaze refocused on Sirius, and he felt his heart flooding with his unshod tears.
please, let me help you.
