Chapter 2

Regulus POV:

It had been a week since they had left hogwarts. Sirius had been doing whatever he could to infuriate his parents. The punishments had been slowly getting worse, and now his body was littered with bruises and scratches of varying severity. To say that regulus was concerned was an understatement. Sirius had been acting strangely for the past month, and something was clearly happening with ‘the marauders’ as Sirius liked to call his friend group.

Today seemed off for some reason. The air was thicker than usual and regulus felt dread seeping into his body and chilling him to the bone. It was currently about midday and things had been surprisingly silent. It was at that moment that a horrible blood curdling scream cut through the house. Regulus froze, his eyes widening in terror. ‘ shit’ he thought, ‘Sirius’

Sirius POV:

He screamed as his father’s boot made contact with his chest, a sickening crack signifying that his ribs had been broken.

His mask had been shattered. Tears of pain invade his eyes making his father’s study blurry around him. He couldn’t breath.

“Crucio!” The curse tore through his body and screamed again. The screamed seemed to bounce off the walls and everything went silent. The only sounds he could hear were his own screams. And then the bulk of the pain disappeared and so did the screams. His mother spoke:

“You WILL obey us in this household, Blood traitor.” As she turned to leave a single word slipped from Sirius’ lips.

“no .”

Walburga turned on a dime, “What did you say to me, filth?!”

“NO!” He must’ve had a death wish.

The pain returned only this time it was worse. It felt like every nerve in his body had been set on fire. He tried to scream but no sound came out. The cruciatus curse was stopped after what seemed like an eternity, but his parents weren’t finished with him yet. They took turns casting curse after curse until his body was covered in burns, bruises and various other wounds. Gashes on his front and back were gushing blood. Old wounds from earlier in the week were reopened. His vision was swimming. It felt like his lungs were filled with acid, burning his insides with each breath. He thought he heard his parents’ foot steps receding but he couldn’t tell. The pain was too much. He couldn’t tell what was happening.

‘This it is’ he thought. ‘I’m actually going to die.’

It seemed like hours passed. He thought he heard someone saying his name, but he couldn’t tell. Everything sounded so far away. His vision went dark.
