A deadly plan
Dear Sirius,
I am writing to you in the hopes of gaining your empathy. I will come home to you, Lily and James in a few days. I have decided not to use codenames for this specific letter. My grades will be able to land me an honorable job, when the war has passed. I have decided on joining your Order as soon as I am released from the chains of this school. I need to have a serious talk with you.
In the hopes you don't die.
Regulus
Regulus was sat across from his brother Sirius, they met up in a bar across from the ruins of a house. In the muggle village they were currently at, lived a young pureblooded woman, Voldemort had wanted her for his leagues but she refused. He reacted in blowing up her house after killing everyone in it.
The muggles were told it was a random terrorist attack.
"You wanted to meet." Sirius began, clearly on edge.
"Yes, don't worry I've checked out this establishment before coming here and especially before bringing you." Regulus assured, his voice cold and calm.
"How is living with the Potters?" Padfoot asked.
"It's alright for now. I haven't been living there for long you know. Lils and Jamie treat me well, I treat them well. We love one another." He replied, his voice breaking slightly.
"I don't like that we talk like strangers...tell me what you wanted to in the first place, please." Sirius complained.
"Ok. I wanted to make sure that you were aware and ok with me joining the Order..." Reg whispered.
"I...can't like it, my little brother following my footsteps but I have to support you. I know that not supporting you in this won't lead to you stopping, so I will help you with everything. I only want you to tell me if you need help, I need to to talk to me." Sirius replied.
"I will, I'll talk to you." Regulus assured.
And so he did, Dumbledore was glad that Regulus had decided to join. Reg settled into his role in the order well and was happy that he got support from the people around him.
About 4 months after he'd joined the Order, Dumbledore asked something of him...
"He wants you to do what??" James cried.
"I know it's not ideal, but he believes that it could really help us." Regulus reasoned.
"Can't Snape search for horcruxes?" Prongs argued.
"I know but Dumbledore said it needs to be done and I only want this war to be over." Reg pleaded.
James sighed, taking a minute to think.
"Alright. You want to do this?" He asked.
"I want to, it'll help." Regulus assured his boyfriend.
"Then I'll have to accept it. You'll do this and I'll help. I've heard being around those makes you go mad..." Prongs sighed.
"I won't change Jamie. I love you and I love Lily." Regulus kissed James.
"I know." James smiled, "Have you told Sirius yet?"
"Yes I have, he...was okay with it." Reg mumbled.
"He had to accept it?" Prongs implied.
"Dumbledore's orders, you know how it is." Regulus stated.
"I know."
9 months into being with the order Dumbledore decided it would be for the best if Regulus joined the deatheaters. Reg assumed it was because they didn't get very far with the search for the horcruxes.
Dear Bella,
I have a favor to ask of you dear cousin. I have, after an abundance of letters by you, decided to join the lord in his mission. I need you to get me in. You know my abilities and how well I can use them.
Your cousin, R.A.B
Dear Regulus,
I am so happy you have finally decided to be on the right side of this fight. I know that your parents are both dead, but if they weren't I know that they, especially your mother, would be very proud of you. I am still unhappy that you couldn't attend my wedding, but no matter how many times we wrote they refused to budge. I'll get you in.
Your cousin, Bellatrix Lestrange
Regulus was soon contacted about coming to his first meeting.
"My dark lord, I have brought the newcomer with me." Bellatrix announced.
"The young Black?" He replied, his voice raspy.
"Yes my lord." Bella answered.
"Bring him to me." Voldemort demanded.
Bellatrix quickly shoved Regulus to the front. Regulus was nervous, he had however concealed this. He was wearing one of his black suits, with a bit of green. He wanted to appeal to the dark lord.
A quick glance around the room showed him faces he knew already, but hadn't spoken to in a while.
First there was Severus Snape, he never talked much. Snape was here for the same reason Reg was, Dumbledore had appointed him to. Regulus gave him a slight nod.
Then there was Barty, Barty Crouch Jr. Regulus knew exactly why Barty was here and it wasn't because he believed in the things the deatheaters believed in. He was in search of any and every way he could get some attention from his father.
Lastly there was Evan Rosier. Evan was here because his family wanted him to. He never protested much and just did what his family wanted him to.
There were other like Bellatrix his cousin, Rudolphus and Rabastan Lestrange whom he knew because of Bellatrix or Lucius Malfoy the husband of his cousin Narcissa. But those weren't that close with him
"Young Regulus, what is it that you desire here." The dark lord inquired.
Reg looked to his cousin, who motioned for him to answer.
"Bella, she wrote me." He answered, "She convinced me to join."
"Bella? You mean Bellatrix." Voldemort crooked.
"Yes."
"Wonderful."
"I have one condition though." Regulus interjected.
The dark lord first looked shocked, but asked none the less, "What would that be?"
Regulus gave Snape a look, trying to make sure it was the right thing to do.
"I want Dumbledore dead." He simply stated.
Lord Voldemort looked at the young man confusedly but also slightly shocked.
Snape shot Regulus an assuring look, encouraging him to continue.
"He's done nothing but humiliate all students under his care but the Gryffindors. I want him dead, I'll do you no good until he's dead." Reg proclaimed.
"Hm, I do agree but I know exactly that it isn't easy to get the man alone and it's even harder to kill him." Voldemort argued.
"I'm in contact inside of his team that want the same thing as I do. I can get them to tell me about any plans and I know exactly that they can get Dumbledore to go somewhere alone." Regulus told the lord.
"How do you know this person won't betray you, or me?" He questioned.
"We both want the same thing, it wouldn't be beneficial for them." Regulus assured them.
"Good"
When he arrived home, Regulus was still shaking.
"Hey hun, oh dear you're shaking." Lily noticed, "James!"
"I'm fine, don't..." Reg tried to intervene.
"What's up?" James entered.
"I'm fine Lily."
"Holy shit, you're shaking." James approached.
"It can't be that obvious?" He asked, trying his best to stop.
"It is. What did you do today?" Lily worried.
Regulus looked at James with wide empathetic eyes.
"Oh, that was today?" James sighed.
Reg nodded.
"Calm down, go rest I'll talk to Lily?" James suggested.
"Thanks" Regulus left, giving both of them a kiss.
Regulus knew how normal people would react to his suggestion to murder Dumbledore. But not his brother, his brother understood him. He still remembered their conversation.
"Sirius."
"Regulus."
"Do you know why I've called you here today?" Reg asked his brother.
"No, not specifically. You said it was extremely important." Sirius replied.
"I've only been working with Dumbledore for about 7 months, but you've worked for him longer..." He started.
"What are you trying to tell me?" Padfoot got anxious.
"I might misinterpret this, but I believe..." His talking turned to a whisper, "I think we need to get rid of Dumbledore."
"What?!?" The older one whispered back, eyes wide.
"I know it sounds shit, but hear me out." He pleaded.
"Go on, I...don't judge." Sirius agreed.
"Dumbledore...he has been bullying the students he was supposed to protect. I know that this might be hard for you to hear, but everyone who isn't or wasn't a Gryffindor has been unfairly treated by this man." Regulus explained.
Sirius only nodded.
"He's been manipulative to everyone around him. Making literal children his soldiers, he started talking to me about horcruxes when I was still in school, Sirius. What has he done for you, ever?" He continued.
"I see." Padfoot replied, turning away from his brother.
"Siri?" Regulus asked.
"I'm fine" he turned back, "continue."
"Alright"
"I've noticed that even though you are an honest follower of his he's treated you differently than James for example. I believe it's because you're a Black. I've seen him treat me similarly." Reg concluded.
"I didn't want to accept it, wanted to ignore it, but I have to acknowledge that he not only treats me different but Remus too. I have to say that Dumbledore doesn't care about any of us. He probably wouldn't even mourn if we die." Sirius acknowledged.
"Therefore I say we get rid of him." Regulus decided, "And I have a plan."
Would anyone love him if they knew what he was about to do?
"What plan?" His brother questioned.
"Dumbledore wants me to join the deatheaters for gathering Intel or something." Reg groaned.
"Like Snape?" Sirius assumed.
"Exactly. I'll ask lord Voldemort to kill him." Reg proclaimed.
"Snape will be there, he could tell on you." Siri worried.
"He trusts Dumbledore too much for us to tell him, but I have a better idea. I'll go to Dumbledore, tell him I'll ask the dark lord only to coax him out of hiding and then I'll tell the dark lord." Reg smirked.
"You've thought about this a lot already." Padfoot was stunned.
"The Aurors or people from the order will be with him. They can't interact, we'll tell them that if they do that would be the death of Dumbledore. Before that happens we have to gather followers for our cause. Only ask the people you can absolutely trust." Regulus ordered.
"I agree"
"After the dark lord has eliminated Dumbledore, we will kill him. For that I need to destroy the horcruxes, I'll most likely ask James for help with that." The younger brother announced.
"Good. We're good?" Sirius assured himself.
"We'll be fine."
