Chapter 3
“But you didn't want it, Ennis-”
“Robin, can you stop saying that, please. It's all I hear every 3 minutes when we don't talk.”
“Just trying to fill the silence, sorry. I'll let you lock in.”
Robin and Nancy had somehow ended up playing Fortnite after work, and it was honestly kind of fun.
Nancy was genuinely good at the game, she knew her way around the map, the best places to drop, the best loot to get. She even knew her way around building, which Robin wasn’t even good at. It was definitely impressive, and she sort of liked that about Nancy. She definitely liked that about Nancy.
Nancy was practically carrying them as a duo and it had Robin totally shocked for the first few rounds. She had always been quick to get Robin's reboot card without her having to even ask like she had to with Vickie. It was kind of nice. She knew that they would be a good duo.
Robin was actually having fun for the first time in a while. I mean, sure, she's played random games on Roblox with Jonathan on their lunch break, but playing Fortnite with Nancy was much better than she thought it would be. She actually put effort into the game and Robin enjoyed that because it made getting that Victory Royale even easier than it would've been if she was playing by herself.
After Robin and Vickie broke up, it took her a while to get back into playing the game again. It took some getting used to having another voice in her hear that sort of helped in keeping her calm, but she adjusted. Now she would just have to get used to playing with somebody else again. Hopefully.
“Hey, Nance?” Robin started, a bit hesitant, fidgeting with the Ps5 controller in her hands. They were loading into a new match, the battle bus taking forever (which wasn't anything new).
Once she heard a soft hum through her headphones, she took a deep breath and hit a random emote in game as the battle bus countdown finally began.
“... The second FNAF movie is coming out in December.. On the fourth.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah.. And the- the, err, Minecraft movie is coming out on Friday. Maybe we can go? Just for kicks.”
There were a few beats of silence on Nancy's end and it only heightened Robin's anxiety. She wanted to crawl around and eat nails.
“... Yeah, maybe. I'll see if Dustin and Mike wanna go. The kids will probably wanna see it for.. Kicks.”
“Oh, okay. Yeah. I'll talk to Jonathan about it after we get off here.”
