Chapter 1
Jonathan and Robin were just trying to enjoy themselves while they worked their miserable shift at the local Best Buy, which wasn’t really local but it was something. At least there was a Best Buy in the state, right? It’s better than Ikea. Robin has never seen or been to an Ikea once in her life (but it wasn’t like the Ikea was any closer than the Best Buy). It’s too scary for her because of that one game on Roblox, SCP: 3008 maybe. The infinite Ikea…The thought of being stuck in a weird, gigantic furniture/appliance store terrified her, and even if it was big, it made her feel a bit claustrophobic.
Robin’s eyes landed on Vickie from across the room and she groaned in embarrassment to herself, slouching and burying her face in her hands. “Ah, fuck, there’s the huzz…”
Jonathan looked up from his phone, still playing Roblox without even looking down at the device. “When Robin runs into her opps in public.” Is what he muttered, partially to himself, which made Robin reach one of her hands to flick him on the back of his neck.
“Dude, shut up, this isn't funny. It isn’t funny when I bring up Steve, is it? No. It is not funny. I’m kind of scared.” Robin ran both of her hands through her hair and took a deep breath, picking her own phone back up to continue to her game of Block Blast.
Jonathan let out an annoyed grumble and looked back down at his phone, going back to whatever game he was playing on Roblox (probably Pet Simulator X).
After about a minute and a half of silence, Robin spoke up again, hesitating slightly as if she was scared that her question was stupid. But stupid questions weren’t a thing, no matter what anyone said. But she couldn’t help but feel stupid for even wondering.
“Bro, do you think that Nancy would play Fortnite with me? Does she even have Fortnite anymore? I know she had it on mobile a few years ago, but that was, like, literally years ago so she definitely doesn’t have it on her cellular device anymore, but would she have it on anything else?” she asked quickly with, surprisingly, the most serious expression on her face that she has probably ever even worn in her entire life.
Meanwhile, Jonathan looked at her like she was an idiot. Or maybe he was the idiot, she couldn’t tell. They were technically both idiots at this point. To her, life was basically a fever dream at this point.
“Uhm..” Jonathan started, pausing a few times after opening and closing his mouth like a goldfish. God, Robin couldn’t get that out of her head now. Jonathan did kind of look like a fish sometimes, but that was besides the point. “I mean, you could just text and ask? I don’t know why you had to make your question so long.”
Robin decided that he had a point, but there was one small issue…
“I don’t have her number, how am I supposed to get it? Can you just give it to me?” she asked, looking back down at her phone and closing out of Block Blast and then scrolling to open her contacts to open the little add thingy.
Jonathan just rolled his eyes and took the phone, putting his own down after selecting some gold to harvest in Pet Simulator so he could get his money for the next map. He quickly typed in Nancy’s number, although he did struggle a little bit to remember it so he had to pause a few times. Finally, he handed the phone back and went back to his silly little game on Roblox.
“Good luck rizzing the huzz,” she heard him mutter before he took a few steps away to lean against a more comfortable spot against the counter.
