Chapter 4

Harry looks around, making sure no one is in his room before he pulls his notebook towards him. He quickly taps the front in a pattern, which he has learned lights up the cover of Toms, hoping Tom is near his notebook. When he gets a glowing cover back he quickly opens it. He wants to write an apology. Harry feels bad. How could he not? He left Tom without a response for days with no explanation. Not a second after he picks up his pen Tom starts to write.

My dear little one,
Sirius wrote to me not long ago about your illness and Mrs. Malfoy has been keeping me updated on your condition. And although I am happy you are well enough to write now, I do have something of importance to discuss with you. Sirius will bring you to Diagon Alley once you are well enough and I will just so happen to be running errands at the same time. We will discuss it then. In the meantime, how are you, little love?

Harry’s stomach twisted at the idea of meeting Tom in person. He was excited of course, how could he not be? This was his soulmate, the person he was bound to. But he was also nervous. What if Tom didn’t like him? What if Tom realised he didn’t want to be bound to a kid for the rest of their lives. Although, Harry wouldn’t be a kid forever.

Tom,
While I may not be delirious any longer, I still feel unwell. The ache in my chest has yet to cease, along with my cough. My fever has gone down to a high 99 but is no longer a risk. I’m better, but not good. I wanted to apologize. I stopped responding rather suddenly and left you with no explanation as to why. I’m excited to meet! Do you think we could stop at some shops? I wanna look into some healing magics but my parents won’t buy me the books and my godfathers won't be over anytime soon since my dad is mad at them. There is a super interesting book on the uses of venom in the medical industry written by Merlin himself. There are only 15 copies in the whole world and I found an independent bookstore that just so happens to carry one.

Harry started to bite at his nail as he waited for a response. He wanted to be excited, he really did. But the ache in his arms and legs made it hard to be excited about any kind of activity, much less one that required walking around a large crowded area. But he did want to meet Tom. And he really did want this book. He just wishes it didn’t require him to put his body through more stress then he already was.

Harry tried to stay awake but exhaustion pulled at his bones and eyelids and before he could even attempt to keep himself awake, he fell into a fitfull sleep.

Sirius was fuming. He and Remus had wanted to talk to James and Lily about having Hadrien stay with them for a while when they overheard a conversation they probably shouldn’t have.

“James, you know why we can’t do that! How would we explain the disappearance of our oldest son! I know we need to get rid of him but we can’t do it without a plan.” James scoffed and rolled his eyes as he ran a hand through his hair. “We should have killed him the moment he was born. He is weak. His magic isn't developing and he doesnt listen! Albus said the reason he can’t be controlled with the potions and mind games is because of the stupid Black heirship! Apparently the title protects him from mind magicks. I never should have let the mutts near him.”

Sirius stopped listening and grabbed Remus and shuffled down the hall. He was trying to walk away as quietly as possible. Remus stopped him before he reached the hall that led to Hadriens room. “We need to get him out NOW, Siri. We can't leave him here any longer. I know we wanted to let him decide himself once he was Hogwarts age but we can’t leave him here. We just can’t.” Sirius nodded and grabbed Remus’s hand. “I know. Tha what we’re doing. We are getting hime out. Now.”

Harry looked up when his door slammed open and frowned when both Sirius and Remus ran in and then slammed the door. Hadrian sat up as they locked the door and tried to swing his legs over the side of his bed, but was stopped by Remus. “Just stay still for a minute okay? Just for a bit.” Harry looked at him with furrowed brows. “Remus what's going on? Did something happen?”

Sirius and Remus looked at each other and seemed to communicate through just their eyes. After a few seconds Sirius sighed and sat down on the side of Hadriens bed. “Are you happy? Do you really want to stay here? Cause if you don’t then we can leave. No questions. We pack all the things you want and we leave. I want you to be safe and comfortable and happy. And I don't think you are any of those things in this house or family.”

Harry looked at his godfather and swallowed. He wrung his hands and tried to stop the tears that welled in his eyes. He was so tired. Most days he just wanted to curl up in bed and sob. He just wanted the pain and the loneliness to stop. He just wanted to be loved. Harry sniffed before he looked up at his godfathers again. And as the tears trailed down his face, Harry let himself break, and with a shaking voice he whispered a single word.
