Chapter 1
Me and Sirius sat at a table across from eachother enjoying a nice cuppa. Of course he takes five sugars in his.
‘What?! I just got out of Askaban let me live a little’
I chuckled, he is still as he was when we were kids. A five year old in an adult body.
We weren’t going to do much, maybe bake cookies with Mrs Weasley. God she can be scary sometimes. When she saw Sirius the first time she practically fed him so much food he almost burst.
‘Beep beep beep!!’
Sirius’ phone went off, it made us both jump. Still the same old stupid ringtone.
He picked it up and I watched intently.
‘Hello? Mhm. Yeah? What! Right we’ll be there.’
His face darkened as he smashed his phone down on the table, cracking the screen instantly.
‘What. What is it Sirius!’
Sirius shot a me a look.
‘Voldemort’s playing his mind games again, they have Harry, and all his friends.’
The air left my lungs.
‘We need to go now Reamus!’
Immediately, we both pushed aside our cups of tea and ran out of the room to the main entrance to Grimmaus Place where everyone else already was.
‘Right let’s go in, get the kids and leave. No need to start a fight if unneeded, that goes to you Tonks!’
The purple haired women sighed.
‘But I wanted to kick some ass!’
‘Only if needed.’
I spoke up breathlessly.
‘Let’s get going!’
And we were gone.
They had the kids by their necks. Circled around the edges of the cylinder shaped room. Harry was in the centre with Malfoy. Of course that man was there. So annoying.
As soon as we appeared, the fighting began.
I fought Malfoy and a few others. Harry and Padfoot were fighting together. I smiled, like father like son. Harry did really resemble his father.
‘Nice one James!’
I stopped smiling. Sirius thought the same as I did. It was wrong. Harry’s face said the same as I thought. He looked uncomfortable.
They got the last hit on Lucius and we were done. It was all done. We had won the battle and would go home.
‘Avada Kadavra!’
There was a flash of green light. Then Sirius was gone. He floated through the stone archway and was gone forever.
I stared at Bellatrix as she laughed, her cousin, she killed him.
Harry, the poor boy, he had tears running down his face as he stared at the archway his godfather had disappeared into never to come back from. I ran over and wrapped my arms around him, as he screamed and cried. No one moved. No one could.
Then Harry moved. Towards bellatrix. I couldn’t hold onto him but he left. Through the doorway and into the ministry building.
Then the emotions flooded.
Padfoot was dead. He was gone, my dearest friend, my only friend was dead. Never coming back.
We had gone to school together. Thrown paper aeroplanes at Filch together. Annoyed Snape together.
We would never be able to do that again.
My legs crumpled and I fell to my knees.
A single tear ran down my face. Maybe it was just karma to us Marauders for being annoying all those years ago. Maybe it was just our fate to die. Which meant I was next. I was going to die next.
