Care For Magical Creatures Mayhem
The audit started almost immediately. The Hogwarts governors and a team of warders to check on the warding stone. The students all whispered as they walked in during breakfast. Narcissa and Augusta are leading the charge.
"Are the warders necessary?" Dumbledore asked. He seemed annoyed by everything that was happening.
"It's a part of the audit Headmaster," Narcissa said in a bored tone. She turned to address the school. "I would like to apologize for interrupting your learning environment. We, the Hogwarts's Governors, will be her for a few weeks sitting in on your classes and seeing what a typical class looks like for you. We want to see how everyone was getting on with life here as well and what changes could be made. If you would like, you may come up to speak to us, but we will not approach you."
There was a murmur in the hall as the students started to discuss if they wanted to talk to the board. They all wanted things to be different in their education and teachers.
"Now we will be joining the first years today. Just so that you will all have a heads up," she said with a kind smile. She turned to the other governors, and they started to split up and went to sit with their old houses.
The days of classes continued as normal. The day of the evaluation had Gryffindor and Slytherins in the most classes. The two groups walked down to Hagrid's hut excitedly. Neville, Harri, and Draco stayed back towards Augusta and Narcissa chatting softly with them. Neville had suggested that they make a club for anyone who wants to get into politics and the other heirs to talk about and vote on the current bills so that they could talk to their parents.
Augusta was so proud of her grandson, and Narcissa quickly agreed to back their club. They reached Hagrid's hut, where he was waiting for them.
"Good mornin' everyone. Today, I got somethin' real special for ya," he said as he led them to the edge of the forest. "Today's lesson is on hippogriffs. They are very proud creatures, so watch what ya say."
He stepped into the woods and led a hippogriff out of the tree line. He smiled proudly at the creature before saying, "This here is Buckbeak. He is going to help with our lesson. So, when approaching a hippogriff, you must bow and wait for them to return it. Harri, why don't you demonstrate?"
Harri shook softly as she stepped forward. She didn't want to be doing this but her friend was so excited. She bowed to the hippogriff and got one in return. She gently pet his beak and went to step back when Hagrid put her on his back.
The hippogriff took off a Harri held on tightly its neck. She was so scared of not being in control while flying. She felt as if she was going to fall. She was hyperventilating by the time they landed. She rushed to her boys as she tried to calm down.
Draco stood blocking the Hippogriff from her sight. "Are you okay? Did the funny looking thing hurt you?" He asked softly. Before anyone could react, Buckbeak attacked Draco. Harri and Neville quickly pulled him away from the attacking hippogriff as the adults got it under control.
Draco was crying as he clutched his arms. Neville gently picked him up, and the three of them ran to the hospital wing. They were all so scared of the damage that could have been done to Draco's arm.
"MADAM POMFREY!" Harri yelled as they burst into the wing. The matron ran to them and had Neville sit Draco down on a bed.
"What happened?" She demanded as she looked at the wound. She needed as much information as possible, and Harri knew that from her multiple trips to the hospital wing. She told the healer exactly what happened quickly.
"It hurts," Draco said, reaching to one of them. Harri crawled next to him on his good side and held him close.
"It's going to be okay. You're in good hands," she whispered sweet nothings into his ear to help him calm down. She watched Madam Pomfrey work. Narcissa ran in not long after and rushed to her son. She asked, "How bad is the damage?" quietly.
"He's very luckily. It only got through stratum basale and didn't hit any nerves. He will be sore for a few weeks, but he'll be okay," Madam Pomfrey said as she poured another potion on the wound.
"See," Harri said softly, "you'll be able to play against Gryffindor in a few weeks."
"You better not go easy on me, Potter," Draco said with a wet chuckle. He had never been so grateful that he got to be her friend. He yawned softly when Neville slipped into the bed to hold him softly and to be used as an arm rest. He looked up at Neville and quietly said, "Thank you for forgiving me."
Neville told him to rest softly as he gently pulled Draco and Harri closer. The adrenaline was leaving all of them, and none of them were moving anytime soon.
