Cause I can write you a love song

Remus was tired from a day of symphony rehearsal. He always felt like he needed to hide who he was around the other people in orchestra, they are all so prissy and fancy. He sure didn't fit in with his black skinny jeans and his alt rock/punk music taste. The orchestra people always talked about how they were listening to Tchaikovsky or Shostakovich, a far cry from System Of A Down. He checked his missed messages as he walked out the doors, carrying his violin in his other hand.

(Prongs):

want to go to a show later?

moonyyyyy

why arent you texting back

oh your in rehearsal

Remus laughed both at James insistent texting, and at his bad grammar and hate of capital letters. You would think from James texting that he was a whiny person, but that was really only over text, he was actually quite levelheaded in person.

(Moony):

Yes James, I was in rehearsal

I don’t know about tonight,

I’m pretty tired

(Prongs):

how was rehearsal?

lucius still being an utter sod?

pleaseeeee re

that lead guitarist your in love with is playingggg

On the other hand, maybe Remus wasn’t too tired to go….

(Moony):

Rehearsal was good as always

Yeah, even since he got moved up to concert master he’s been a real arse

Maybe I could muster up the energy to go

But don’t think that that trick will work every time…

(Prongs):

WOOOOOOO

yes sir!

(sorry about lucius)

Now Remus had to figure out what to wear. He really was tired and looking through his closet didn’t really seem like a blast. He was going to get to see his guitarist though, and that made it all worth it. They nicknamed the guitarist padfoot, which was printed on the back of his guitar. James swore that he and Remus had had a moment last time, but Remus wasn’t convinced. He probably wasn’t even looking at Remus, and really how can you tell who he’s winking at when there are 20 other people pushed up against you. No, Remus refused to get his hopes up.

Remus had decided on a pair of black boot-cut jeans that hung low on his hips made his ass look great (James words not his), on a tight white graphic tee, and his high-top red converse. He felt good.

He was about to walk in the door of the small venue when he heard someone whistle, whipping around he saw James, dressed in all black, keeled over laughing, with a beautiful redhead on his arm. Lily smiled at him, and they embraced. “Hey Re, I feel like it’s been forever!” she said with a whine hanging off of him.

“It really has.” He laughed at her antics. It really had been a few months. He’d get out more if he wasn’t always so exhausted by symphony.

They all walked inside, there was a band on playing some song Remus hadn’t heard before, but he found himself enjoying. He’d have to make a stop at their merch table for a CD.

“I’m going to go grab a drink” Lily yelled over the music, “Want anything?” Remus almost shook his head out of habit, but he didn’t have work in the morning so what was the harm. “I’ll take a whiskey?” He yelled back. She shook her head and pulled James away with her.

Remus, now alone, figured now was a good of time as any to go check out the merch tables. FALMOUTH was the name of the band padfoot played in, so he started towards their table. To be honest he already had all of their merch, so he was mostly just looking for padfoot. It would really be helpful if Remus knew his name…

He didn’t find his guitarist at the table, which was currently being maned by the bands drummer who he knew was named Severus, but everyone called him The Snake because he has a snake tattoo wrapped around his throat. He looked and talked like he was in a perpetual state of disinterest, so he didn’t really feel like talking to him. He also found a new shirt that he hadn’t bought yet, score. Now truthfully, he was kind of ashamed of the small collection he had started but he just couldn’t pass this up. I mean, what if it was sold out later!?

“Boo” someone whispered in his ear, and he jumped out of his skin while trying to hand money to the snake and he whipped his head around. Lily giggled and handed him his drink. Looking back to where he was handing Severus the money, he realized he had disappeared. They must be going on soon. He slid the money in the bag he knew they kept it in and hoped no one thought he was stealing anything and took the new shirt.

“Hey guys, can I run this out to your car?” He asked James and Lily. Of course, they said yes, and he ran out to put it in the boot. He hurried knowing Falmouth would be on soon. Walking back in through the doors he hears Falmouth setting up and doing mic checks. Checking his phone to see where his group had ended up, he quickly pushes through the crowd to get to the front where Lily and James are waiting for him.

His guitarist is already out on stage setting up. Their eyes catch and padfoot smirks, James elbows him in the ribs. Remus glared at James, James just smiled back. The lead singer, a beautiful blonde, cleared her voice in the microphone. “We are FALMOUTH.”

With that they burst into song, “One was enough to get him this far” the blonde sang, “and two would just complicate things.” Remus looked away from the singer to find padfoot staring at him, fingers working up and down the frets of his guitar. No no, there were lots of people around, he couldn’t possibly be looking at Remus. Padfoot gave him a small lopsided smile and Remus felt his face heat. He knew his blush was visible when the guitarist broke out into a full smirk.

As the song ended, the lead singer turned around and said something to padfoot. To which he responded with a nod of his head. Looking back at Remus with an easy smile he strode up to the front of the stage, taking the place of the blond singer. With a deep breath and another nod, he launched the band into a song. “I’m gonna try, gonna try to focus” he sang. Remus was shell shocked, padfoot’s voice was beautiful, and deep, and raspy but with a smoothness he couldn’t explain. Remus could go on. He almost felt dizzy.

“I’ve been awake, been awake and hopeless” he continued. Padfoot’s eyes found Remus, and Remus felt like the wind had been knocked out of him. He wasn’t sure he had even felt anything this intense before. “I know I can’t count on you.”

Padfoot’s eyes closed, and Remus took that moment to study him. Gods was he beautiful. The guitarist was wearing a black tea shirt with the sleeves rolled up on top of his shoulders to showcase his biceps. He had on black ripped skinny jeans with poorly laced black docs that looked like he’d owned them for years.

“Cause I know you and your lies and your mind controller, me,” he almost sounded in pain “my pride and the job I’ve chosen.” Lily, who he had forgotten was there, elbowed him.”Give me your phone” she yelled. Puzzled he pulled his phone out of his back pocket and handed it to her. He turned back to the stage to find his guitarist staring at him with an eye brow raised.

Remus watched as Lily pushed her way through the few people standing between them and the stage. The people complained but Lily didn’t seem to care. Once she got to the front, she yelled something that Remus couldn’t hear. With a smirk padfoot bent down and Lily handed something to him.

Remus realized that Lily had just handed his phone to the guitarist. Padfoot flipped the phone into selfie mode and raised the phone facing the audience. He stood there in shock as the phone was handed back to Lily. She turned around with a smile and pranced back to Remus and James, slapping the phone into Remus’s hand with a wink.

He didn’t move for a good ten seconds, still shocked. When he realized he had his phone back, he opened it to find the photo. God was padfoot hot, even when sweaty from playing his heart out. Okay, maybe especially when sweaty from playing his heart out.

Looking back up he found his guitarist staring at him, a look he had never seen before on his face. Was that want? No, he must be reading into things. “And are you behaving?” he sung face breaking out into a smirk. Remus heated again. Okay, that was definitely want. “So let me know what works for you,” he sang “cause I can write you a love song.”

Remus had to break eye contact, he just couldn’t deal with the intensity. Instead, he opted for examining the drummer. The snake's long hair flew around him and he played, and you could see his tongue piercing with the way his mouth was slightly open. Playing drums was the only time he looked like he experienced emotion. His face always contorted with what looked like a mix of anger and concentration.

The lead singer, who was now singing back up, was beautifully tattooed. That thought made him look back to padfoot, who was showing the tattoo sleeve on his left arm. Remus was to far away to make out any details but he could tell that it was some kind of large piece with purple and yellow. “Cause we’re perfect as perfect can be,” he sang turning his husky voice sultry, “I hate you baby and you hate me.” He winked at Remus. Remus bit his lip staring at padfoot, gods he felt high. The lead singer walked back up to the front, “thank you, we are FALMOUTH.” As the band walked off stage padfoot turned around, locked eyes with Remus, and blew a kiss.

Remus downed the whiskey he had forgotten he was holding.

He walked through the door to his flat way later than he had intended to. Lily had insisted that he stay and have another drink…. And then another. Which of course had led to dancing. Now he was exhausted, buzzed, and in desperate need of a shower.

Toeing off his shoes he threw his phone onto the bed and walked into the bathroom. Looking at himself in the mirror he took a deep breath. By no means was he ugly, but he didn’t think he was anything special, not like padfoot anyways. With another sigh he turned the shower onto its hottest setting, getting in and letting the hot water eat away all of the tension in his shoulders.

In the shower his thoughts wandered to padfoot, and how his fingers had flew across the frets with practiced ease. Now, Remus didn’t play guitar but as an instrument player he could recognize the immense skill the guitarist possessed. Not to mention his voice, it was sexual and husky, and quite frankly something out of Remus’s wet dreams.

Hopping out of the shower he wrapped himself in a towel and walked back out into his bedroom to see if James or Lily had messaged that they have gotten home. On his phone there were three texts.

One from James
