Bubblegum
When I wake up, there are a lot of spells and wards around me. There is even one that monitors my heart. My mouth is dry, everything hurts. Professor McGonagall is reading a book, looking nervous. I try to make out what she’s reading but my vision is a bit blurred. I try to call her, tell her that I’m thirsty. But my words seem to fail. Only now do I realize that I have trouble breathing. I cough. The air is dusty. Professor McGonagall looks up quickly. When she notices I am awake she leaves the room. A few minutes later she comes back in with a nurse and a cop. The police woman has bubble-gum pink hair and her eye color changes to match mine.
»Tonks, she’s already confused, please don’t confuse her more. » Professor McGonagall speaks with a stern voice.
« But Minnie, she needs to feel safe. Also my hair is bubble-gum because it’s my celebration color, I got assigned to a difficult case, which means the aurors trust me. »
The professor sighed.
« You’re lucky I am not your teacher anymore or I would’ve given you detention. Especially because you used your hair colour to help classmates cheat during exams. »
I laughed.
»You see that my technique works. » The girl with bubble-gum hair exclaimed whilst she pointed at me.
« Oh Merlin, I am happy that you aren’t a healer. » The professor said.
»Me too » said the nurse while laughing.
The nurse checked my vitals and continued to examine me.
« During our research we found out that you have a lot of internal and external bruises that were covered up with a spell so we wouldn’t be able to see them. Luckily, the caster was horrible and we found out that you have them. »
I nodded. Professor McGonagall seemed in utter shock. The girl with bubble-gum hair came to stand next to the bed.
« I am Tonks, you assigned auror. » She made a little happy squeal. « I am sorry, I am fresh out of training and I am so excited to be assigned to your case. Of course another auror has been assigned to your case as well, but because he is a man, he’s not allowed in your hospital room. You are very secure and heavily guarded. Because whoever did this, clearly wanted to cause you harm. If the healers hadn’t been able to do such amazing work, you would have been in grave danger. We are also scared that the person who did this to you might come back to get you so we are closely working together with the healers. »
Tonks winked to the healer and blew her a kiss. The healer blushed and turned away.
« Young lady, you have a few broken bones, a severed lung, a sever vagina infection and various other things. You’ll have to stay here for a while, but except for your memory loss, there is nothing we can’t heal. »
Professor McGonagall thanked the nurse and the nurse left.
« Sooooo » Tonks screamed over enthusiast.
« Calm down Tonks for Merlin’s sake. »
And then, something happened that made me question my sanity. Tonks transformed into McGonagall. The only difference was their clothes.
« Tonks! » Professor McGonagall screamed
I was crying with laughter.
« I am cheering her up. And it’s not like she knows Snape or that annoying pink lady from the ministry. So I had to do you, Minnie »
It was insane the McGongall-Tonks had the same voice as the real McGonagall, the same little twitches of her lips when she spoke. It was utterly insane.
After a while, Tonks transformed back and she spoke to me in a more serious tone.
»Since you are an underage and unidentified witch, we aurors have to perform a DNA and heritage test. The test will happen tomorrow morning. Study well. »
With a wink and a wave the strange auror was out the door.
