Chapter 1
“Could you tell me what my parents were like?”
She paused, looking up towards Harry. An apprehensive look plastered on his face as he sat in the kitchen. He had never gotten to ask Remus or Sirius to tell stories about them, afterall. She put down her knife and thought for a second, before her eyes brightened and she turned to leave the room.
Confusion flooded Harry’s features as he stood to follow her.
In the living room, Leo stared at her, an eyebrow raised, as she rummaged around a box on that had appeared seemingly out of nowhere.
Everyone’s confusion grew until she pulled out a tape, with a sound of triumph, and went up to the TV. Carefully inserting the tape, she mumbled a spell under her breath to make the TV bigger, and stepped back towards the couch. She sat half on Leo’s lap, head on his shoulder, and patted the spot next to her for Harry to sit down.
A bowl of popcorn appeared on her lap as the TV flickered to life.
Harry missed the bittersweet smile on her face, and the way Leo hugged her tighter, as a face so similar yet so different to his own appeared on the screen.
James’ face took over the screen, the camera evidently pressed close to his chest, as he looked down at it as if he was seeing it for the first time.
The camera quickly moves, some shuffling being heard, as someone else takes it from James and points it at him once again.
“What the bloody hell is that?” he asks after a moment.
“A muggle film camera. It records videos which we can watch later,” responds a different voice- presumably Remus.
James, who still looks like he was handed a dragon egg with no explanation, looks to someone on the right, before the camera pans to Sirius, looking equally confused.
Snickering is heard from behind the camera as Remus struggles to keep it steady, with Peter laughing somewhere out of frame, too.
Once he manages to calm down, Remus turns the camera back towards himself and smiles, wide and joyful,
“We solemnly swear we are up to no good.”
The screen goes black for a second before a Remus’ face reappears. A mischievous smile is painted on his scarred face.
The camera turns to Sirius and James, who are huddled together infront of the fire, whispering and laughing like Disney villains. As Peter walks past them to get something, he gets pulled down by James. Sirius whispers something to him and Peter laughs, whispering something back.
Sirius looks around the common room, eyes landing on Remus. An evil glint in his eyes and a wide smile spreading on his face, Sirius motions for Remus to join them.
The camera pans back to Remus, eyebrow raised expectantly.
James and Peter are still giggling maniacally, as Remus sits down next to them.
“What are you lot plotting?”
The camera cuts to the Great Hall.
People are screaming and running around, reminiscent of headless chickens. Frog-bat hybrids run wild, up the walls, and jump down onto the panicking students.
Dumbledore looks amused as he sips on his drink.
Mcgonagall downs what is most likely firewhiskey in her cup, and slams her head onto the table, wondering where she went wrong with life.
Sirius and James are hanging onto eachother for dear life as laughter overtakes them. Peter and Remus just barely manage to contain their giggles, avoiding eye contact.
They glance at Sirius and James, and then at eachother, and crumple to the ground, joining their friends in their laughter.
“Some guy was mean to Jamie so we’re gonna make him pay,” Remus comments cheerfully.
Sirius, looking equally as cheerful, whispered a levitation spell on a few hundred eggs, slowly making their way to the ceiling of the Slytherin common room.
“Pete’s playing wizards chess with Jamie right now to distract him. They were really into it when we left, I don’t think they even noticed we’re gone,” Sirius adds.
He looks at his creation with a proud expression, as Remus wipes an imaginary tear from his eye.
The scene cuts to the two of them, arms linked, skipping through the hallways and singing ‘We’re goin on a trip in our favourite rocket ship’.
No one so much as looked in their direction.
The camera cuts to the quidditch stadium, where Sirius is sitting, surrounded by paints and glitter of a variety of colours, and a banner.
Remus is still smiling brightly as he writes, “Malfoy, you fucking twat” in bold red letters, adding glitter and confetti onto it. They hang it up at the centre of the stadium. They then nod at eachother and at the camera.
The scene cuts back to the slytherin common room, showing a tall, blonde boy covered head to toe in raw eggs with a crowd of kids in green uniforms surrounding him and giggling.
James’ laughter could be heard from somewhere off to the side.
The group is lounging by the lake.
Remus is reading a book under a tree, while Peter is talking to a woman who looks a lot like a young Mary Macdonald. Sirius and James talk animatedly towards the edge of the lake.
James says something that causes Sirius to gasp dramatically, hand on his chest, before he pushed James into the lake. He doubled over, laughing.
When James didn’t resurface for a good while, Sirius carefully made his way closer to the edge of the lake, leaning forward to look for James.
A hand reaches out of the lake, grabbing Sirius’ ankle and dragging him into the water. Sirius yelps, loud enough for Remus to look up from his book and snort.
Sirius grumbles, looking like a particularly disgruntled wet dog. James laughs and splashes him with water. Sirius looks at him, an evil glint in his eye as he swipes his hand, creating a small wave and aiming it at his best friend.
Remus watches them, a fond look crossing his features.
The look morphs into faint snickering as the camera zooms in on James and Sirius fighting a squid and screaming bloody murder.
Peter wheezes.
