Chapter 2

Loud music blared in the Gryffindor common room. The camera was shaky, the image blurred. Remus’ laughter could be heard as the camera turned to James, standing on a table with a bottle in hand. Holding it up like a microphone, he sings along to David Bowie’s Starman with the grace of an elephant on a tightrope.

He sways, stumbling slightly before catching himself and laughing.

Sirius appears, looking more out of it than James, leaning dramatically over the table James was standing on. James looked down at him, pausing for a moment. His face brightened and he took Sirius’ hand, pulling him up onto the table.

James all but forced him to join the impromptu performance.

The music cut off all of a sudden.

The camera cut to Minerva Mcgonagall standing in the doorway, in her night gown. Her glare pierced the souls of even those on the other side of the camera.

The screen went black.

Sirius was in what looked like a classroom, head on the desk infront of him. James was seen in the far corner of the screen, in a similar state.

Peter turned the camera around and smiled down at it, “Detention and hangovers don’t mix.”

Somewhere off to the side, grumbling from what was likely Remus could be heard.

Peter’s smile just widened as he leaned the camera against a few books and pulled a flask out of a pocket that definitely wasn’t there before. Three heads audibly snapped towards him as he swished the liquid around.

Peter just raised an eyebrow, face as innocent as ever.

A scarred hand reached over and took the flask.

Peter winked and the clip ended.

Sirius sat infront of the fireplace, facing Marlene who had a small bag next to her. She took out a small brush and an eyeshadow palette, muttering something to Sirius who closed his eyes.

The camera cut to Sirius surrounded by Marlene, Lily and Mary.

Each of the girls seemed to have their own job, Lily focusing on his hair, Marlene still focusing on his makeup and Mary painting his nails while most likely gossiping.

Barely a minute later, Mary looks around the common room before her eyes land on someone. She beckons them over and James enters the frame.

Mary smiles and sits him down next to Sirius, before starting to paint his nails, too.

The scene once again cuts, this time to James, Sirius, Remus, Peter, Lily, Mary and Marlene standing together, barley fitting into the frame, and showing off their nails.

Sirius winks at the camera and the group smiles as the scene fades to black.
