A new life
"Wow, she's tiny," Lily cooed, gently taking the baby from Remus.
"Yeah, she really is," Remus sniffled, overcome with emotion.
"She's so perfect," Sirius grinned, his eyes shining with joy at his husband's reaction.

Magic, Remus thought, was truly amazing.
Ten months ago, he and Lily had invented a spell. It allowed queer couples like them to have children that were a mix of both partners. They still needed a surrogate, but this baby was theirs in every other way.
Their older daughter, Evanlynn, peeked into the room, curious about the new arrival. They had adopted Evanlynn when she was five, and now, eight years later, their family was growing.
"You can come in, sweetie," Sirius called to her.
Evanlynn entered cautiously, looking around for the baby. Not seeing her, she seemed confused.
"Lils has her," Remus explained.
"Oh, sorry, Aunt Lily, I didn't see you," Evanlynn apologized.
"It's okay, dear. Want to hold her?" Lily offered.
"Her?" Evanlynn's eyes widened.
"Yeah?" Lily looked puzzled.
"Oh! Uncle James owes me a ton of money now!" Evanlynn exclaimed.
