things get bad again!!!!!!!
The clock hit 9:58. Dazai was pacing the Gang room, waiting for the signal. The Weasleys used that candy from last year to make it look like Ginny was sick and unable to walk, hopefully leading Madam Pomfrey out of the infirmary.
Whizz- POP
There, the twins had set off the glitter bombs, saying that Pomfrey had left. Dazai snuck out of the door and headed in the direction of the infirmary. He followed the trail of glitter the twins had left for him. Despite being in and out of the infirmary so often, he still didn’t have the way memorized. He had to rely on the fact that the twins set off their glitter bombs in the direction to the infirmary.
None of the living portraits were in their frames, seeming to know better than to stick around when the Weasleys cause chaos. Once Dazai arrived at the infirmary and locked the door behind him ( a small buffer between him and the rest of the school) he got to work finding a scalpel. While the tiny blade brought back unpleasant memories, it would produce a cleaner and more precise cut than a regular knife. Blaise had also confiscated most of Dazai’s knives after the little episode he had. There were a few left but they were painfully dull. He found the giant crack in the wall and stood in front of it. He slit his arms elbow to wrist. It was dangerous, yes, but it was the fastest way to get a substantial amount of blood. Madam Pomfrey should be back soon anyways. Dazai felt a bit guilty that she would walk in on him like that, but then reminded himself of the basilisk and could no longer find it in him to care.
Once both of his arms had been cut as deep as he could take, he stood, waiting for the familiar magic signature of the basilisk. He began to get dizzy and started losing balance. He felt a nostalgic buzzing behind his empty eye socket. He stuck his hand through the crack and closed his eyes.
He felt himself drift off to sleep and opened them instinctively. He made eye contact with the basilisk. He felt all of his muscles stiffen up.
Before his eyes had been turned to stone, he saw the basilisk lick his hand and be killed by no longer human. He smiled internally.
Then his vision went black
---------------
Poppy was tired, she was called to take care of the youngest Weasley, who, it turns out, had accidentally eaten some of her brothers’ trick candy. She had only a few last checks to complete before she could retreat to her room and get some well needed rest. The last thing she expected was to have the infirmary door locked when she distinctly remembered leaving it open. She felt a pit form in her gut.
“Alohomora” she whispered out, waiting for the click of the lock, she opened the door slowly, preparing for the worst.
What she saw was worse than she could’ve ever expected.
Dazai, her problem child, was standing in front of one of the walls, his arms no longer visible, covered in blood. The blood from his arms was beginning to pool around his feet. Dazai himself was swaying on his feet. She heard a hiss, the basilisk. She wanted to reach out for Dazai, yell for him to move, but her feet stayed planted in the ground, and her mouth stayed firmly shut. She could only watch as Dazai lifted his right arm and stuck it through a crack in the wall. She could only watch as Dazai accidentally opened his eye. She could only watch as Dazai turned to stone starting from his feet and working its way up. She could only watch as a blue light emanated from Dazai. And she could only watch as the basilisk cried out in pain, and Dazai turned fully into stone.
It was only then when she found the strength to move. She ran forward, and against her better judgment she stuck her head through the crack and looked down. The basilisk was dead. Dazai had killed it using wandless magic. No, That wasn’t magic, it was something different, but what. That didn’t matter right now. Mr. Dazai had just been Petrified. She hurried to make a bed for him and carried him to it. Even as a statue he was worryingly light. She got to work wrapping up his arms. She is unable to stitch up the wounds now, but this should be fine till he awoke. It’s not like he will bleed out when his blood is stone.
Merlin, this will be a pain to explain to Severus
