ruh-roh!
Dazai didn’t sleep that night. He, instead, laid on the couch of the gang room. Egg began prowling around the room before curling up on the floor beside him. Dazai had so many things to deal with. First he had the basilisk. That could be either incredibly easy or incredibly hard. He could either kill it with a touch or would have to fight for his life. Then he had the issue surrounding the mafia, that was the most concerning. If Mori knew he was alive there were going to be issues. What if Mori hurt the people at hogwarts? What if Mori hurt Rei? What if Mori hurt Blaise?
No.
Dazai was spiraling again
The last time this happened he ended up in the infirmary with wounds littering his arms
That wouldn’t happen again
Not if Dazai could do anything about it
Dazai shot off the couch, startling both Egg and Featherbrain from their spots and shot out into the hallway. He needed to be moving. Movement would keep the thoughts away. He didn’t know where he was going but he knew he was going somewhere.
When he finally felt like he was back in his body he was standing in a room he didn’t recognize. He was coughing and holding an old dusty vase. This must’ve been the third floor. ever since the troll incident no one dared to go into the third floor. No one knew who had killed the troll and people started spreading the rumor that there was something on the second floor that had killed it. Dazai knew what had actually happened though. The troll had attacked him then No Longer Human had flared and he had killed the troll. His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of someone clearing their throat. Dazai whipped his head around to see a woman wearing a gray dress with lace around her collarbones. She was a ghost, Dazai could tell from the fact that he could vaguely see himself in the mirror behind her and the buzzing that he felt under his skin and in his brain. This room seemed incredibl charmed, a ghost shouldn’t be giving off this strong of a magical signature.
“Finally, you snapped out that trance of yours. To get right to the point, why are you here?” the lady asked
“Uh, I'm a student here?” Dazai responded, unsure
“Yeah I figured that out from the fact that you are wearing a slytherin uniform. I meant why are you on the third floor, after curfew. Also, what’s with the bandages?” she restated, agitated.
“Ohhhh, that. Uh, well I was wandering the halls, and ended up here!” Dazai said, not willing to give her the whole truth
“Yeah, you got lost, wandered into a room and started cleaning a random abandoned classroom. I don't buy it but i won't question it, on one condition. Don't tell anyone that the second floor has no malicious entities. I prefer that everyone stays away from this floor, it’s nice to read when everyone’s away. Oh, by the way. I'm Helena Ravenclaw.” she conceded. Helena Raven, she was the house ghost of the ravenclaw house. She was known for being very quiet. Not many people knew her name, most people just called her The Gray Lady
“Understood, I will keep my mouth shut! Uh, question, is it ok if I come up here as long as i dont bother you and mind my own business?” Dazai asked, this could be a nice place to just sit and think
“Sure.” Helena went to turn and leave but stopped herself. “I mean this in the nicest way possible, but what is wrong with you? Your presence feels like a black hole, that I will be sucked in if I get too close.”
“Don't worry about that,” Dazai gave her a teasing smile. “Just dont touch me and you’ll be fine.’
“Good to know. Are you sure you are supposed to be in slytherin? You definitely seem like a Ravenclaw.”
“I’ve officially been told that I should've been in all four houses. I’ve collected all of them!” Dazai said enthusiastically
“Whatever floats your boat, kid, get back to your dorm now.’ The Gray Lady said, walking out the door
Dazai turned around to look at the room around him. He really did clean this place up, he had seen some of the other classrooms on the third floor and they were all in boxes and covered in dust, this place was immaculate compared to that. Sure, it was cluttered, but it was in a cute way that just made the room seem lived in. this would be a nice place to do his homework
He did eventually decide to leave the room, and once he reached the bottom of the stairs he was immediately confronted with the weasley twins
“SNAKEY!” they both whisper-yelled in unison “Why were you on the third floor? Haven’t you heard the rumors, apparently there is something on the third floor that killed the troll last year!” Right, only Draco, Blaise, and Pansy knew the truth about the troll “ You shouldn’t have been up there alone! What if you got hurt?”
“Well I didn’t so that has to count for something right? It’s fine! Now it would be nice if you could escort your beloved boss back to the gang room so he may rest!” Dazai said dramatically
“I hate the fact that you don't feel safe enough to sleep in your own dorm room, I wish that someone would just clear the allegations so things would go back to normal.” Fred stated, George nodding along with him
“Eh, even before the whole demon thing I didn’t like sleeping in the dorms. I don't like sleeping in general actually. Sleeping is weird.” Dazai responded, skipping down the halls. The twins quickly caught up to him and started guiding him around the halls they kept mother-henning so Dazai just started to drown them out and tried to learn the magical signature of the living portraits. He had never took the time to memorize it but anything was better than listening to the twins ramble
It was incredibly hard to focus on the portraits because of the fact that they were constantly moving. The frames themselves weren’t magic, it was the soul living in it. Every single magical signature was different but similar in form. It was like ghosts, the same but different.
It was a slow build and Dazai didn’t notice it at first but the buzzing of magic in his skull grew more and more unbearable. He started lagging behind the twins. Their conversation grew faint as the ringing in his ear grew louder, completely drowning out the sounds of his two worried older brothers. He felt himself fall to the ground and saw a puddle of blood form from his nose and mouth
He was tired, a little nap shouldn’t hurt right?
The last thing he heard was Fred say “Oh shit, a teacher!”
---------------
Snape had a bad feeling. He tried to pace the hallways to clear his mind of this unwarranted fear but was soon met with the thing he feared. He heard a ruckus coming from down the hall and was met with the Weasley twins surrounding an unconscious kid on the floor. I don't think I need to tell you who it was.
Goddammit, can this kid stay safe for one day??
