Dazai learns morals!!!!! (and almost dies but that doesn't really matter)
“No.”
The word felt foreign on Dazai’s lips and even more foreign to Mori’s ears
“What did you just say to me, Shuji-kun?” Mori asked, half threatening, half genuine.
“I said no. I'm not going to kill him. He didn’t do anything wrong!” Dazai said
“He is a traitor to the port mafia.” Mori explained packing up his medical tools, glaring at his newly stitched up patient through the corner of his eye
“He refused to kill innocent children! How is that a traitorous act? He did the right thing!” Dazai shouted, slamming his fist onto the cold metal table he was sitting on “What was he supposed to do?”
“Ah~ Shuji-kun! You get so adorable when you’re worked up! But you must understand it was direct orders from the boss, he may be becoming senile but we still must do what he says! Now you had better run off and knock some sense into that traitor before I have to knock some sense into you!” Mori said bittersweetly, letting the underlying threat linger in the air. When Dazai made no move to leave the doctor’s office, Mori turned to glare at him
“ I said no.” Dazai said leaving no room for argument
“Hm~ you’ve always been so strong willed but i never thought it would go this far… I knew sending you to Hogwarts was a bad idea, it made you soft. I think it's time for some retraining” Dazai shot to his feet at the blatant threat and backed himself into a corner “Im sorry dear, but I must do this, its for the best, i'm doing this because I love you~ I wouldn’t want you to get hurt in the outside world, at least not prepared!” Mori brings back his fist and swings, making direct contact with Dazai’s cheek.
Dazai felt his mouth fill with blood and he spits it out onto the floor, the crimson red contrasting the pristine white tile. He looked up at Mori who had walked back over to his medical bag and was pulling out a scalpel “D-do what you want to me. I'm not going to hurt another person.”
Mori sighed, “Well, it's tragic, but if you’re no longer going to do your job, you’re no longer useful to the mafia. Your father surely won't mind! Do you know how many times I've been ordered to kill you? The only reason you’ve lasted so long is because you were profitable, but even then you can easily be replaced!” Mori chuckled, sharpening the blade on his scalpel “But hey! This will be fun for me!” Dazai felt the scalpel plunge into his eye. He brought his hand up to his face and felt a warm thick liquid. He looked at his hand to see it covered in blood, he suddenly became aware of the pain that had previously been stunted by shock. He felt Mori pull the scalpel out of his eye socket and collect some of the blood “Luckily I can still take some blood samples and keep you useful in some way!” Mori said, far too excited. “That should be enough! Alright then, goodnight!” Dazai opened his uninjured eye to see Mori holding a scalpel to his neck. The pain blossomed from his throat he looked up to see the doctor smiling down at him
Then it all went black
Dazai woke up to a throbbing pain in his chest, throat, and eye
Mori must have shot Dazai once he passed out thinking it would kill him, jokes on him, Dazai was alive.
He was alive?
He was alive!
He stood up carefully, trying to figure out what to do. He needed to get to Hogwarts. He needed to get home. He knew how to do that
He limped through the streets of Yokohama, light headed. He got a few sideways glances from pedestrians, but no one said anything, they knew better. He was in Port Mafia attire, no one asks the Port Mafia questions.
He stopped at the door of a small apartment and knocked on the door. The door opened to reveal a teenage girl with long brown hair. She was wearing slacks, clearly not expecting visitors
“Hey it's Rei, how can I help- oh shit Shuji-kun are you ok? What happened? Come in, what do you need?” Rei sputtered out, clearly confused, before pulling Dazai into her apartment and shutting the door behind them. Dazai was on the verge of bleeding out and obviously needed help. Dazai went to Rei’s office, grabbed a piece of paper and a pencil then walked back out.
Dazai sat writing for a couple seconds before showing Rei what he was writing.
“Hi Rei-chan! If you can't tell I kinda need some help, I was wondering if you could use your ability to bring me to Hogwarts, if I die they deserve to at least know what happened to me. I'm probably going to pass out on the way there so if i do just kinda drop me off at the porch!”
Rei was stunned to say the least but she was going to go along with Dazai’s plan anyways. He deserved to get out of this hellhole and if he trusted the people at Hogwarts, so did she. It wasn't like she knew how to do any sort of medical treatment, and if she even suggested going to the hospital he would automatically refuse, even if she did convince him, the hospital would send him back to the Port Mafia and that was the last thing either of them wanted
She put her arm around Dazai’s shoulder, opened the portal and helped him limp through it.
He, predictably, passed out on the way there and Rei picked him up, getting blood all over her clothes, Rei checked his pulse and, surprisingly, he was still alive. It was dull but his heart was still beating. He wasn’t dead, yet.
They arrived at the palace and Rei set Dazai down, wishing him the best, then left.
-----------
Snape was concerned to say the least. It had been a week since winter break was over and his problem child hadn’t been heard from since he left Hogwarts.
He was busy worrying about his snake when a scream shot him out of his thoughts. He ran to the main entrance, the source of the sudden noise, to see a hufflepuff student he never bothered to remember the name of on the floor in a panicked state when he looked to see what got them like this he was met with the subject of all his recent thoughts
“Shit…”
Dazai clearly needed help, badly.
Snape tried to assess the damage and calm himself down it can’t be that bad right
Nevermind, it can
Dazai had already lost a lot of blood, he had a deep cut across his neck, had some sort of wound on his eye, there was far too much blood to tell much more about that injury, and had 3 gunshot wounds on his chest, thankfully none of which hit his heart. Snape bent down to check Dazai’s pulse, it was faint and slow, but it was there.
Snape picked up Dazai. He was far too light for his age and height, but that could be discussed later, there were much more important things to worry about.
Snape ran to the infirmary catching the attention of some of Dazai’s friends who began to run with Snape, asking constant questions. None of which got answered.
He slammed open the infirmary door, getting a muttered, “Sit down, I'll be right with you" from Madam Pomfrey.
“Poppy, I don't think waiting would be the best idea. Do you have any open beds?” Snape stammered, his voice full with panic
Pomfrey turned around, saw the situation at hand, grabbed Dazai Pushed snape and the kids out of the room and got to work
It took Pomfrey 13 hours to get Dazai back into stable condition. But she did. It was especially hard considering she couldn’t use magic because of Dazai’s magic sensitivity
Snape looked at those around him, all waiting for an update on the problem child. Both of the Weasley twins were there, George biting his nails and fred pacing the halls. The other person who was there was Blaise Zambini, the only Slytherin who seemed to care about Dazai after the Quirrel incident; the two of them were never separated. Blaise seemed the most upset out of the four sitting outside the infirmary his leg was shaking and there seemed to be tears in his eyes
They all had sat there for hours in silence outside of the infirmary never leaving, even to eat or sleep. The door opened at last to reveal a worn out Madam Pomfrey
“He’s in stable condition, you may visit him.”
