Lily's home
Finding Lily's house was way too easy. At least her garden, as he could not see her house. But the Garden was centered around a giant chestnut tree, and Severus had always known that Lily loved those. It was the only chestnut tree in the area. Before he could change his mind Severus quickly climbed over the narrow fence and took a seat under the tree, not caring that his suit got wet. It was still a very small tree, indicating that it hadn't been planted very long ago. Maybe the house was under the Fidelius charm, and that was where he couldn't see it. Maybe Lily's house was somewhere else and only her garden was here. Maybe he would have to wait a bit until Lily would return but that would be all right. Hopefully she wouldn't bring that annoying James Potter along.
Suddenly, out of seemingly thin air, a fat orange cat appeared, lazily strolling over the wet grass. Severus raised an eyebrow. Well... that was interesting. He pulled out his wand and muttered: “Revilio” Suddenly a nice, little house came into view. Some of the windows were brightly lit and Severus could see Lily dancing behind one of them, while waving her wand to have the food magically cook itself. A small baby slept in her arm. Severu’s heart ached at the sight. He had missed so much in her life.
Slowly, almost as if someone else was piloting his body, Severus got up and walked over to the glass door that led into the garden. He knocked. A shadow appeared behind the milky surface, coming closer, then the door opened and suddenly a wand was pointed exactly between Severus’s eyes. “What do you want here, Snivellus? Come to do kill in your dark lord’s name?”, James Potter growled.
He was even taller than Severus remembered him. Damn it. Why hadn’t Lily come to the door? “I am here on my own accord.”, Severus hissed back, inconspicuously reaching for his wand. “Oh really?” Potter took another step forward, forcing Severus to back off. “Yes, really. I came to warn you. The dark lord is looking for you. He is after your son.”, the shorter wizard snapped. “And why exactly would you warn us? It does not really seem in character for you”, Potter scoffed.
“I did not come to save you, Potter. And you know nothing about my character.”, Severus hissed. Just as Potter opened his mouth, probably to unleash some form of verbal diarrhea, Lily, still holding the baby appeared behind him. “James, what is going on here?”, she demanded to know. It was good to see that she wore the pants in the relationship. Severus could not have able to bear it if Lily had ended up in a relationship akin to his mother’s.
“Good, old Snivellous has decided to show up here with a wild story about wanting to save Harry”, Potter spat. Lily raised her flaming red eyebrows. She never had been able to raise only one. “Is that true Severus? You want to save Harry? From what?”, she asked and her voice was cold as ice. Lily always held onto grudges, like prized family jewelry. “The dark lord. He is after him!”, Severus answered, trying to ignore the freezing cold in his former sisters eyes.
“Why would you know who be after Harry? He is only a few months old!”, Lily wanted to know, narrowing her eyes and pressing the sleeping boy against her chest more tightly. “There was a prophecy about a child, of parents that fought him three times, being born in the end of July that has a power that can destroy the dark lord. He thinks Harry is the kid this prophecy and plans to kill him. You have to flee! Go into hiding! I don’t know when he will be here. If I found you so fast, who knows when the dark lord will be here!”, Severus explained frantically.
Lily’s eyes went wide. James’s jaw dropped. “Are you sure?”, Lily whispered. Severus nodded. She just had to believe him! “Yes, the dark lord told me himself, that he will go after you.”
