Near end, Day 1
The other professors weren’t nearly as annoying as Lockhart, when it came to Dazai.
So they didn’t do anything other than usual.
Though Dazai did get glances from McGonagall every once and a while during teaching, not that Dazai noticed though he was too busy staring at nothing.
What was going on in the kids mind?
(Literally Dazai:
I fucking hate this stupid Mori, go kys you stupid mf. But no actually)
Dazai felt it harder and harder to stay awake and found himself dosing off during classes, but he would catch himself before his head actually hit the table.
He couldn’t show weakness, demons don’t have weaknesses.
If he couldn’t keep up the act, then well, everything would go to shit.
And Dazai found that it was already swinging that way.
He could feel Blaise worrying daggers into then back of his head.
And he could almost hear his and Draco’s thoughts as they communicated with their eyes, which is crazy they were acting so much like the twins! That’s so cool!
But on the other hand it wasn’t, and don’t get him wrong, any other day it would have been great because he wants the gang to have that sort of connection but, that meant that they were on his tail and would soon be following him around like kicked puppies looking for answers and solutions to his problem.
And Dazai hated dogs.
____
Blaise and Draco were theorizing on their own, what else were they supposed to do?
Let Dazai wallow in his own thoughts or dig him out of the shitty hole dug himself into and help him the fuck out?
They were most definitely going to help him the fuck out, but it would be difficult being just the two of them, they needed the other gang members help.
But the two of them both had a feeling that the others were completely clueless because:
1. They don’t sit at the slytherin tables
And
2. Gryffindors are kinda fucking clueless (meant in the nicest way possible though)
Draco and Blaise also hated to think about it, but might even need to get a teacher involved in their shenanigans.
______
Pansy kept watching as Draco and Blaise glanced at each other, both equally sharing worry, Blaise even more so.
She was so confused, what the fuck was going on?
Though, she kind of had a clue, the stupid Demon was acting off today.
Because Pansy isn’t as stupid as some might think, she actually has a brain and a fairly big one at that.
She had noticed it at breakfast, when she was trying to talk with Draco.
And she had noticed it in Lockhart’s when he kept talking with it, though she realizes it was more taunting than talking.
What could be wrong?
Was the demon tired? It was possible, he kept looking like he was going to pass out at any given moment.
She also noticed he hadn’t eaten breakfast, ah, is that why Draco was worried about the Demon earlier?
It would make sense, she noticed that him and the Demon were hanging out a lot more recently, almost as if he didn’t care about his reputation getting ruined.
Which was crazy! Because he should care, but anyways.
Did the Demon not want all this chaos?
Then why did he kill Quirrell?
He was so confusing sometimes, you never know what to believe when you are around that thing.
Was it really self defense like Dazai’s friends are saying?
Nah, that would be crazy!
And that would mean that she would have to apologize for sicking her Demon hate group on him, and she didn’t want to do that.
______
Snape felt that the rest of the day flew by, he noticed that Mr. Dazai skipped lunch to go who knows where.
He would have to bring it up with the boy when he talked with him.
Finally it came time for the last classes of the day.
Potions.
All the second years that had potions last made their ways to the dungeons, chattering excitedly about what they were planning on doing after classes ended.
____
Mr. Dazai surprisingly showed up quite early, and without Blaise.
Strange, did he finally manage to navigate his way around the school?
It took the boy long enough.
(Dazai most definitely did not learn his way around the school.)
And he was well behaved as well, he sat down at one of the potion making stations, the usual one him and Mr. Zabini shared.
And he just waited, no remarks about suicide no quirky little faces he didn’t try to do anything. He just, sat there and stared.
Which Frankly, was more worrying to Snape than the constant remarks about suicide and his recklessness.
_____
Blaise couldn’t find Dazai, and you could say he was kind of, fucking panicking.
He made his way down some hallways trying to see if he could spot the bandaged boy, but to no avail.
Blaise then settled for just heading to the dungeons and praying that someone would find Dazai and bring him to class.
To his surprise, he was actually already there, and he wasn’t the only one surprised.
Blaise took a glance over to Professor Snape and saw that his eyes were widened ever so slightly, in a way that he had only seen happen because of Dazai.
He also took a glance at Dazai, and he noticed that he seemed much more put together than he seemed for like half the fucking day.
Strange, did he deal with what was bothering him already?
_____
Gosh, Dazai was tired, he ached and felt sore, but in a way that gave him more focus, he used that pain and discomfort and projected it onto his image.
He had skipped out on lunch and wandered the halls until he found the gang room and slipped inside, the gang room was his safe space in this magic filled place, though this room contained lots of magic since it only appeared to certain people.
He could feel No Longer Human writhe in his stomach, it wasn’t a pleasant feeling in the slightest.
The energy of consumed magic flowing throughout his blood made him jumpy, and anxious; He felt like someone was watching him.
But he was sure no one was, he was completely sure, that didn’t stop him from thinking there still was someone though.
He needed to calm his blood down, but he didn’t know how.
That was a complete lie, Dazai knew exactly what to do, but he was..hesitant on doing it.
He hadn’t actively done it since he came back from winter break at Hogwarts this year, which was crazy now that you think about it because that meant like at least two maybe three months.
He was clean for two months, what an achievement, he should blow a candle and throw confetti everywhere.
He didn’t feel happy though, he didn’t stop because he wanted to, it was more like he couldn’t physically bring himself to.
Dazai was always with others being them humans or magical beings(Egg) he can’t just whip out a knife and go ham.
He tossed his thoughts aside and manned up, he was the fucking demon student. (Rahwr slay girly pop)
He did things because he wanted to, no other reason behind it.
And with that he was thoroughly convinced.
He sat down on the couch in the gang room splaying his limbs out, holding his bandaged arms out and above his head as he looked up at the ceiling with his one auburn eye.
It didn’t matter if he broke his streak, nobody would know, Pomfrey wasn’t around to know, she had dealt with him medically last year and had to un-bandage him.
Snape hadn’t seen and was never pushy on seeing his scars, that was just the way he was.
None of the gang knew about his habits, hell, they thought his constant suicidal remarks were mere jokes!
Though Dazai felt that Blaise had an inkling, Blaise always knew it was so hard to keep secrets from him; Dazai had yet to find out why it was so hard to, but he would know eventually and that would have to do.
____
Dazai did end up breaking his clean streak, his forearms littered in angry red lines that had small pinpricks of blood welling up in and around them.
His arms stinged, but that was normal, and with the air he was able to feel seep into the cuts it almost felt like energy was seeping out of him, being let out in small amounts by his blood.
And it was incredibly relieving, he felt that he could finally breathe, that he could finally think without being drawn back to the feeling of the energy welled up in him.
He had a feeling that this wouldn’t be the last time he would have to release said energy.
_____
Draco knew that Dazai had skipped out on lunch, and he was equally as surprised as Blaise when he saw Dazai in class, and acting even better than he did before.
Though he was still quiet, he had this confident aura about him that made Draco sigh with relief.
It seemed that he was, for the most part back to his normal self.
And that was enough for Draco at the moment.
____
Pansy had noticed the change in the Demon’s behavior after he had skipped out on lunch.
How did he switch up so casually?
Was his tiredness all an act? Or was what she was seeing now an act?
He was so confusing, this is why she doesn’t hang out with weirdos.
_____
“Blaiseeeee” Dazai started, “Do you think if I add this into our potion, it’ll kill me when I drink it?” Dazai asked, eyes sparkling with extreme curiosity.
Blaise chuckled as he stared at Dazai, feeling the curiosity radiating off of him. “I don’t know boss, but I would rather not try it out.” He replied.
“Pooo, Blaise is no fun.” Dazai pouts as he puts down what he was dangling over the cauldron.
Blaise smiles as he looks at Dazai, this was a normal interaction between them, it felt like everything was normal he sure hoped it was.
He glances over Dazai’s figure, taking it in, roaming from his hair down to his neck where the bandages peaked out from his robe and then to his arms where you could get a much clearer visual of the bandages.
Blaise’s eyes narrowed as he stared at them, they looked carelessly put on, overlapping multiple times, usually they were applied neatly and spaced apart.
It looked like there were multiple layers that covered him.
And Blaise didn’t like those implications.
He tried tilting his head to get a better view as Dazai worked with their cauldron, and when he did he saw a faint red seeping through the bandages.
Blood.
Blaise’s heart speeded up, how-..when..
Oh, when he snuck away at lunch, that must have been when.
He seriously needs to talk with him.
