Eyes, Lots of eyes.

It got cold, fast, so incredibly fast that Dazai felt goosebumps form just above where his bandages snaked around his neck.

Not cold in a winter way, but cold in a dread type of way.

Eyes, there were eyes on him.

So many eyes.

All watching him.

Waiting for him to fail, just so the could laugh in his face.

Like he was the main attraction at the circus, face painted with the mask of a clown.

Those eyes pierced through him.

Staring at his bones, and into his stomach.

To see the empty hole that was there, No Longer Human.

Constantly awake and slithering against the inner lining of his body, is where it stayed.

It had a home, a place to go back to.

Which is so weird, because even though No Longer Human had a home, Dazai didn’t.

No place was safe for or from a demon like him.

They were seeing him.

Those eyes, and their cruelness, they knew too much.

They knew too much.

Way too much.

They needed to look away.

Too many eyes.

Too much noise.

It was all too much.

It was so overwhelming, he needed to open his eyes, open them, stop leaning against the table.

He couldn’t be afraid, not now.

He was a demon, vile and cruel, he killed in cold blood.

He couldn’t be scared of a few stares. He just couldn’t.

Dazai’s eyes snapped open and he sat up nonchalantly, taking in the sight before him.

Either his mind was playing tricks on him and he was finally starting to lose it, or everyone stopped looking at him as soon as he sat up.

Weird.

“Dazai.” Someone said, that someone being Blaise.

When did he get here?

That doesn’t matter.

Dazai felt his mask slip on, carefully glueing itself onto his skin. “Yes Blaise??” Dazai chirps, in crafted kindness; for demons don’t know kindness.

“You need to eat.” Blaise says, slight concern shimmering in his eyes.

Dazai wishes he dropped dead right then and there.

He was expected to eat? Food?! He couldn’t do that, No Longer Human wouldn’t allow it.

No Longer Human took up his whole stomach, leaving no room for food, maybe if he were back in Yokohama he might have eaten; because No Longer Human would be much smaller.

It wouldn’t have anything to feed off of.

“No thanks!” He says and turn away from Blaise.

Blaise’s eyes harden and the concern starts to show more, seeping into the air around him.

Disgusting.

“You need to, eating is important.” Blaise says softly, trying to encourage Dazai to speak and give in and eat.

Dazai shakes his head energetically, “Nope! Not today, I’ll eat a little something at lunch.” He says with a smile that he doesn’t mean at all.

Dazai loves Blaise, how could he not?

But sometimes the boy could be so pestering and would get under his skin even more than-

No not more than Mori, not even more than father, why would he think that?

Blaise sighs, resigning from trying to convince the bandaged boy next to him. “If you say so Boss.”

Dazai smiles again, “That I do! I do say so.” Dazai chirps as he looks around the Great Hall.

“My second in command should listen to me! Or else I might have to demote him for disobeying!” Dazai says as he crosses his arms, in mock seriousness.

He can just barely make out the few ginger heads all the way across the room.

Practically feeling the pranking energy emanating from that side of the big room.

Dazai can hear Blaise cover up a soft laugh, and in return Dazai smiles and chuckles to himself, as he turns his head to the teachers table and meets eyes with Snape.

.
.
.

Snape?

Huh, is this guy always watching him?

That’s kinda weird!

He should tease the professor today in his potions class about it! He was such a worrywart!

___

Snape has half a mind not to startle when Mr. Dazai makes eye contact with him.

Was it perchance or did he know that Snape was staring?

The kid wasn’t that smart was he?

Of course not.

Snape narrows his eyes slightly and takes a closer look at his problem child.

He could practically feel the mixed emotions that enveloped the boy this morning.

Which was weird, because the boy was usually extremely hard to read.

But without Poppy here, seeing as she was petrified, he didn’t have anyone to converse with about his concerns for his problem child.

He couldn’t bring himself to trust Minerva, even though she was know in charge of the “Learn More About Dazai.” Plan that Dumbledore had orchestrated at the beginning of year 1.

And he sure as hell wasn’t going to talk to Lockhart about his concerns.

The ego filled man would probably take his words and stuff them into his book.

That stupid blondie thought that Dazai was truly a demon, which was utterly preposterous.

But then again Lockhart heard about the incident with Quirrell from the Daily Prophet.

Snape sighed tiredly, he felt a Dazai Headache forming already, and he hadn’t even talked to the boy yet.

Potions was certainly going ti be fun today.

____

Lockhart knew that today was going to be a wonderful day!

The sun was shining when he woke up and got out of bed.

The demon was as miserable and evil looking as always.

Things were going splendidly!

He was making small talk with a professor he unfortunately couldn’t remember the name of.

“I’m currently in the process of writing a new chapter for my book!” He says, flashing a toothy grin at said professor.

“How..wonderful..Gilderoy.” Said professor responded, with no enthusiasm.

He had half a mind to scoff at the professor, but he had manners after all.

Merlin, I suppose some people just don’t have good taste in books nowadays.

____

Pansy was making small talk with Draco as they ate their breakfast.

Except Draco kept looking at the stupid demon!

Jealousy boiled in her stomach, how dare that stupid mudblood steal HER Draco?!

Then nerve of that thing.

___

Draco was worried.

From the moment Dazai sat down and rested his head against the table he knew something was up.

Had his boss sent him another letter?

He thought curiously, but then he thought that he would have seen it. So he supposed not.

Then what was wrong with Dazai?

He could hear Blaise and Dazai chattering, and tried to eavesdrop to see if he could figure out what was wrong without having to ask.

Draco liked being in the know, if he wasn’t in the know he felt stupid.

Just like he felt now.

Whatever, he thought with a scoff.

He’ll have to figure it out from Blaise later.

He turns back to Pansy again to continue talking, catching glimpse of her cheeks flushed in anger.

Was something going on with Pansy?

So many things to worry about, and such little time in each day.
