Chapter 5
When Pandora was walking towards the sorting hat, her legs felt like the jelly her mother sometimes makes on Sundays. Even though she didn’t have a reason to be nervous, as she’s going to end up in Slytherin anyways. Just like Evan a minute before.
So she sits down and Professor McGonnagal puts the hat on her head.
She almost jumped off it when she suddenly heard a squeaky voice in her ear. Nobody had told her that the hat would talk to her.
“You believe you belong in Slytherin?“, the hat asked stunned and before Pandora could answer something he said: “Come on, Kid! We both know better!“
A loud „RAVENCLAW“ echoed through the hall and Pandora couldn’t believe what she just heard. This must be a dream! There is no way that this is real!
It’s almost like her legs are walking on their own, as she stepped over to the Ravenclawtable.
“Hey, Pandora!”, Barty smiled at her. Because of this surprise she had already forgotten that he got sorted here aswell, “I had no idea you would be sorted into Ravenclaw!“, he said.
”Me neither“, she answered as her eyes wandered over to Evan. Her brother looked at her with a puzzled, and also kinda worried, expression.
Regulus was sitting next to him and Pandora felt a little bad for them. It was like she was betraying them. Especially after what happened with Sirius.
The two brothers used to be so close, but after Sirius became a Gryffindor, he got basically disowned by his family and Regulus stopped talking to him. Now there was no such thing as ‚the Black brothers‘ anymore. And now Pandora was scared that this might happen to ‚the Rosier Twins‘ aswell.
Of course Evan could be really annoying, but she wouldn’t know what her life would be like without him. He has been her best friend for basically all her life. Losing him seemed impossible. If she knew about the future that was awaiting her, she wouldn’t believe it anyways.
”Are you alright?“, Barty suddenly asked her.
”Sure“, she answered, even though she obviously wasn’t.
Barty just shrugged and smiled at her. ”We can talk about something else if you like! For example about…uh…the food?“
His smile was so funny and genuine that Pandora couldn’t help but smile as well. If she was honest, she knew she was actually glad to be in Ravenclaw. This place feels so much more like herself than Slytherin ever would.
And Barty…Barty was a nice guy. And he was a pureblood. Her parents would be fine if she married him. It would be so much better than marrying one of her cousins.
But before she could think more about it, Barty kept talking to her.
