The house is beautiful of course, and once acquired she and Death initiated the process to allow passage for her people and keyed it to their connection to her.
Thankfully that meant none of them were trapped here and she could visit Teddy when necessary. She could even get the paper if she wanted.
She splits her time between the kind man that took her in, his wonderful daughter and her people.
There are also brief visits from the wolves in the woods. She knows she confuses them- they had admitted as much in that first conversation.
The man did a barely inconspicuous sniff and then tilted his head in confusion at her.
She glances at Bella talking to her friend a few feet away then back at the man who is clearly an alpha.
“What is it?”
He opens his mouth to say something then turns to face the other members of his pack as they drift closer.
She prompts him once more.
“You smell like wolf” one of them takes the chance to say and she smiles at the thought.
“That would be the lingering scent of my son”
They speak with their eyes before looking pointedly at her.
“His father was a child of the moon”
Which makes them understanding but still peer at her oddly.
“You don’t look like a mother”
“And I suppose you know all about looking your age don’t you?” She teases.
He shrugs sheepishly.
“Take care of her for me” she requests before leaving Bella in their capable hands.
Their conversations aren’t long or frequent but there is a level of respect and trust there. Which is why when she returns from a visit to her property out of town and hears of the situation from Charlie she stops by to update them on the situation before heading off.
Now, she doesn’t know much about this ‘Alice’ beyond the connection to the idiot ex boyfriend but Harry doesn’t like the idea of her holding this much sway over the usually responsible Bella.
And she definitely doesn’t like the fact that the wolves muttered something about ‘cold ones’ at the mention of her name.
That sounds a little like there may be native vampires here and she wants them nowhere near her new little sister.
She’s certain they don’t have a set-up like her people to ensure there isn’t overfeeding or people getting hurt.
Well, there’s an idea. If they really are vampires, then I may be better off sending people to collect Bella. And if they aren’t, then at least we know how to do subtlety.
