For What it’s Worth: Outline
Summary
About three years ago, I had anabsolutely batshit crazy idea for a Harry Potter fanfiction. It started with a text to my friend where I asked “What if Severus Snape, Lily Evans, and James Potter were in a throuple?” I ended up plotting the whole thing out, creating playlists, and even drawing some art for the fic. This is a collection of all those things. I may or may not ever get around to writing it, but I thought people would appreciate it. Feel free to write from my outline and world building, but please list this as inspiration or send it to me if you do! I would love to see it!(Note: This is as gay as humanly possible for the sole purpose of pissing off TERF. K. Rowling.)
All Chapters Forward

The Chamber of Secrets (Dudley and Hari Evans’ Terrible, Very Bad, No Good Year)

[SUMMER HOLIDAYS]

    • Dobby steals Hari’s mail, but Lee’s is left undisturbed. Hari is jealous that Lee’s friends are still talking to him. When he sees Lee reading a letter from Pansy, he gets mad and they fight about Lee’s friendship with her. Lee tells Hari he doesn’t get to be mad about things he doesn’t understand.
    • The two spend most of the summer fighting, even through their Birthdays.
    • Petunia is a bit upset that they’re fighting, but isn’t able to get either one of them to back down.
    • Dobby, in an attempt to get Hari expelled for experimental magic, destroys his Birthday cake. This doesn’t work, however, because the magic use is attributed to a visiting John (Remus), and goes unreported to the School Board. Petunia is angry at Hari for (allegedly) destroying the cake. Lee is confused as to what happened.
    • Dobby attempts to convince Hari to not return to Hogwarts. Hari manages to get his mail from him, and realizes Ron invited him to stay at The Burrow. He ends up spending the rest of the summer there, but only after Petunia makes him and Lee apologize to one another.
    • When the Weasley’s come to pick Hari up, Fred tricks Lee into eating a ton-tongue toffee. Lee thinks it’s funny and vows to get Fred back, Hari is bemused, Arthur is exasperated, and Petunia is irritated until Arthur reverses the candy. Afterwards, she’s confused.
    • Hari and Ron spend time playing pick-up Quidditch with the Twins and Ginny. Unlike the rest of their family, Fred and George were sorted into Slytherin and Ravenclaw respectively. Fred gives Hari more insight into what being a Slytherin means, especially for those whose families are seen as blood traitors or any kind of other. Hari begins to feel bad and writes a letter to Lee with a more genuine apology. Lee doesn’t respond.
    • Ginny is very awkward around Hari and continuously calls him “Harry.” Hari is annoyed by this.
    • The Weasley’s and Hari travel to buy school supplies. Hari ends up in Knockturn Alley by mistake. He ends up witnessing an interaction between Draco and his father, which faintly reminds him of how Vernon treated him and Lee when they were little. He’s uncomfortable about the Empathy he feels for Draco. He meets back up with the Weasley’s now plus Hermione. The run-ins with Lockheart, and Malfoy happen like in canon.

  • Ginny Weasley receives Tom Riddle’s diary.

[END OF SUMMER HOLIDAYS]

[SECOND YEAR, FALL TERM]

    • The Weasleys and Hari travel to Kings Cross station together. Unlike in canon, Dobby is unable to block the barrier as Diana Malfoy (she’s well-meaning, I promise) notices he’s going missing and orders him to stop doing things that could get him in trouble. (Dobby manages to find ways around this order later on, but for now he can’t intervene.)
    • On the train, Hari tries to talk to Lee since he hasn’t seen him since he left home shortly after his birthday. Lee brushes him off, and Pansy gets in between them. When Hari tries to tell her off for how she’s treated Neville, Lee blows up at him. There’s a physical fight between the two which all of their friends try to break up. Ron’s wand is broken in the scuffle. This just makes Hari more angry at Lee.
    • The sorting ceremony goes similarly to canon, though Hari and Ron are both present. Hari is distracted by how Lee is in Slytherin once more.
    • Lockheart shenanigans happen.
    • In an attempt to make up with Lee, Hari invites him along to Nearly Headless Nick’s Deathday Party. Lee refuses. He does apologize to Ron about his wand. While at the table, some of the other younger Slytherins make fun of Hari. Before a fight can break out Diana Malfoy intervenes, backed up by Marcus Flint.
    • Mrs. Norris is petrified. Lee begins helping Filch look after her in the infirmary when he has free time.
    • Colin Creevey is petrified
    • The Dueling Club meets. The club, normally run in tandem by Flitwick and Snape, is taken over by Lockheart who is attempting to show off. Hari is revealed to be a Parselmouth. Most people react in fear, particularly some Hufflepuffs who are told off by Cedric Diggory for their behavior.

  • Justin Finch-Fletly and Nearly-Headless Nick are Petrified.
  • Hari waits for Dumbledore in his office. While waiting, Hari asks the hat about why it thought he could’ve been a Slytherin. Unsatisfied with the answer, he asks why Lee got sorted there. The Hat is generally unhelpful, merely repeating the verse about Slytherin from their first year. “Perhaps in Slytherin you'll make your real friends. Those cunning folk use any means to achieve their ends.”
  • Hogwarts students begin to gossip about Hari being the Heir of Slytherin.

  • Parvati and Padma Patil are unimpressed by the rumors and manage to get a chunk of the student body to back off by telling them that Parselmouths are quite common in India and it makes perfect sense that Hari would be one considering his family are old Magic Indian nobility. (Hari corrects the twins that he’s Pakistani later on. Padma apologizes, but Parvati gets snarky about it and asks if he really thinks British Magicians would know the difference. They all get more friendly with one another, and the girls give Hari some recipes to give to Petunia that he might like.)

[WINTER HOLIDAYS]

  • Hari and Lee once again spend Christmas at School.
  • Convinced that Draco must be the Heir, the Trio carry out their Polyjuice Plot. While in the common room, Hari and Ron get a front row seat to the division present in the house. They get to see first hand the way people who don’t quite fit the “Slytherin” Archetype are treated by their housemates. Notably, Daphne Greengrass taunts Lee about asking Hari to do Slytherin a favor and petrify him and his friends. Fred tells Daphne to back off. Draco makes a snide comment about Daphne being stupid because “Potter obviously isn’t the heir.”
  • Hermione is still a cat lol.

[1993]

  • [John reaches out to Petunia again on a night he breaks his sobriety. She goes to pick him up, and he rants to her about the Anti-Werewolf Legislation that was recently passed. Petunia offers him to stay with her again for a bit. John agrees. He reaches out to Dumbledore, who promises to keep him in mind for any job openings that come up.]
  • [Lana begins working as a professor at the Magical Section of Cambridge University. Her classes focus on Magic Theory, and understanding “Dark Magic” or “Dark Arts” on a more technical level. Conservative Pureblood Wizards are not happy about her classes or rhetoric.]

[Spring Term]

    • Spring term starts up again with Hari and Lee still at odds. Hari tries to reach out to him, but Lee is hard to get alone, especially as the Slytherins close ranks and begin traveling in packs.
    • In February, Lockheart does his Valentines Day shenanigans. Ginny tries to talk to Hari, but he ends up yelling at her about his name. Then, in a moment of truly bad timing, her Valentine is delivered.
    •  Ginny abandons the diary. Instead of Hari, Lee ends up with Riddle’s diary. Riddle is furious that Lee is the one who ended up with the diary and tries to manipulate him into passing it on to someone else. When it doesn’t work, he continues to possess and manipulate him.
    • [Petunia grows concerned when Lee suddenly stops writing to her about school life. She asks Hari to check up on him when he writes to her next.]
    • Hari attempts to check up on Lee. He’s a lot angrier than previously and a bit physically aggressive with him. Hari also notes that he’s lost a significant amount of weight. He’s worried that the rest of Slytherin has been treating Lee worse. When he asks Pansy about it, she mentions that their friend group is worried for him too. She tells Hari that he better fix whatever he did.
    • Hari gets injured in a quidditch game. Lockheart vanishes his bones. The game is canceled shortly after.
    • Hermione and Pansy are Petrified together. Hari has to spend the night regrowing his bones with all of the petrified students. He doesn’t take it well. Dobby visits him, and tries to warn him, but the combination of Diana and Lucius’s orders stops him from being clear about it. He warns Hari to keep an eye on Lee.
    • Slytherin house is shocked that one of their own was attacked. Lee’s condition worsens.

  • Dumbledore and Hagrid are fired, Hagrid gets arrested.
  • While visiting Hermione in the hospital, Hari meets Pansy’s mother. Her mother is chatting with Neville. Hari learns a bit more about Pansy and Neville’s former friendship. Neville asks Pansy’s mother to not tell Pansy he visited her when she wakes up.

    • Hari and Ron visit Aragog in search of answers. Without the Angelina to rescue them, Hari thinks fast on his feet and summons snakes loose in the forest to scare off the spiders. The snakes are excited to meet a speaker, and warn Hari of the “Large Snake.” They warn Hari that something bad happened to her.

  • Hari and Ron visit Hermione and find the Basilisk page. They pass the information onto their teachers. While the rest of the teachers divide to round up the students, Snape notices Hari’s hesitation. He asks what else Hari knows and Hari tells him about what the snakes told him.
  • Dudley Evans is taken to The Chamber of Secrets. Hari and Ron rush to rescue him. Lockheart loses his memory because of Ron’s broken wand.

    • Hari fights against Riddle who is incensed at the energy used to bring him back to life coming from a Weasley, then a mudblood. Hari doesn’t take kindly to this and goes apeshit. Snape enters the fight and helps to distract the basilisk. During the fight, Fawkes the Phoenix blinds the basilisk. Hari doesn’t stab her, but slices off one of her fangs and infuses the sword with her venom. Hari destroys the diary using the fang he removed, while confusing the basilisk with his parseltongue. After the diary is destroyed, the basilisk shrinks down into a regular size. She hides in Lee’s robes.
    • Lee and Hari are taken to the infirmary. He talks to the basilisk who tells him she wants to stay with Lee. “He needs me, speaker.” Hari convinces Snape to agree that Lee keeps her as a pet, telling Dumbledore that the basilisk was killed during the fight. (Snape only agrees because she lost her eyes and is much less of a threat without them.) The basilisk tells them her name is Naga.
    • Dumbledore and Hagrid’s jobs are restored

  • Hari frees Dobby.
  • Lucius Malfoy is removed from his position from the School Board.
  • End of School year runs similarly to canon.
