Yeah, I heard what happened in band. I was walking by when Perry started throwing stuff at the teacher. She ran out crying, knocking me over by accident. I followed her up to the roof.
“Perry. What’s wrong?” I asked Perry, who was perched on the edge of the school. “Leave me alone!” shouted Perry the Platypus. Then she jumped.
“Perry!!!” I shouted as I ran to the spot where she jumped. As she fell, she opened up her coat to use as wings. She flew the the outdoor high dive pool. Of course she would do that.
I slid down the banister. Perry always does this, and I’ll tell you what, it’s a hell of alot faster. I got down to the pool in 2 minutes. Sure enough, Perry was floating on her back, staring at the sky.
“Go away, Doof,” she said, apparently knowing I was there, even though I was quiet and she wasn’t looking. She sunk to the bottom of the 25 foot pool. When 10 minutes had passed, I went to see if she was okay. I swam down, and saw she was wearing a platypus bill the allowed her to breathe.
I tried to swim back up, but the surface was too far up. I looked down and the last thing I saw was Perry swimming up to me.
When I woke up, Perry was giving me mouth-to-mouth. “ Hey, Perry” I said weakly. “Omygawd! You're alive! Why on Earth would you go down there, anyway? Are you okay?” She started to ramble about how it was stupid of me to go down there. That was expected. What was unexpected was when she hugged me and didn’t let go.
Our friendship will never be the same.
