Shit happens

It had been a month since he’d last spoken to Endeavour, and Touya was living his best life. Until he woke up early one morning with a banging headache and the strong urge to throw up. He practically threw his blankets off his body, stagnantly leaving his bed and booking it to the bathroom across the hall. Thankfully his father was off on a business trip, so he wasn’t there to hear Touya’s commotion. Unluckily, Fuyumi did.

“Are you okay, Touya?” She asked gently, standing outside the closed bathroom door, hearing him throwing up the contents of the stomach.

“Y-yeah, I’m okay.” He eventually replied.

“You sound sick.” Fuyumi insisted, noticing the nasally tone in his voice when he spoke.

“Just nauseous.” He threw up once more.

“I’m coming in,” Fuyumi lightly gripped the door handle, but before the younger twin could respond, she entered.

Touya was on his knees, bent in front of the toilet bowl, he looked shaken from being awoken by the sudden wave of sickness.

“I swear I’m fine, Yumi.” He wiped his mouth with the sleeve of his shirt as he attempted to stand up.

“Maybe you have the flu,” The white-haired female rested her hand against her brother’s forehead, it felt normal. “You should drink some water and I’ll make you some soup.”

“No, Yumi…” Touya protested weakly. A sudden state of realization overcoming him. “I don’t think it’s that.”

“What? Of course your unwell, Touya, you puked your brains out, why else--oh.” Fuyumi cut herself short. “Oh.”

The red-haired boy sheepishly nodded, his cheeks reddening at the implications of their conversation. If he had a hole he’d crawl into it and die. He hoped his suspicions were wrong.

“How? I-I don’t understand…” His sister was at an obvious loss for words.

“I’ve been seeing someone…”

“A boy?--but you’ve been on the pill--do you really--”

“I forgot, Fuyumi! I forgot!” Touya exclaimed, gripping the sides of his head. “This is all my fault…”

“Hey, no listen,” She soothingly rubbed Touya’s back in attempts to comfort him. “We don’t know for sure yet, you really could just be sick.” Fuyumi smiled at him and he smiled back, hoping she was right. “Would you like to accompany me to the store? We could check--”

“What about dad?” Touya croaked weakly “If he finds out--”

“He won’t, he won’t,” Fuyumi reassured her brother. “He’s out of town. No one will know.”

“But what if I am…” The white-haired male trailed off, losing his voice.

His twin took a deep breath. “We’re just gonna have to find out.”

So about this boy…” She started to tease in an attempt to lighten the mood, and Touya immediately interrupted her.

God, Fuyumi, no!” He blushed. “Let’s just go to the store and forget about this!!!”

Touya didn’t give much detail about the possible father, just a few vague details, enough for the other Todoroki to know that her brother truly cared for this mysterious person. Touya implied this said person couldn’t know about his family status whatsoever, something Fuyumi was saddened about but brushed off.

“Here it is…” Touya and Fuyumi stood in the pharmacy aisle of a local supermarket, in front of the pregnancy tests. “Do you think if we used Dad’s card to pay he’d get suspicious? He asked warily.

“Luckily, I withdrew some cash.” She responded, pulling out a handful of yen, enough to cover the cost.

“Well here goes nothing.” Touya huffed, reaching out to grab one of the boxes. Doing so felt so surreal to him, a possibility he never imagined.

Fuyumi was frantically pacing in front of the bathroom door, enough for Shoto to get worried about her. “Yumi-ni? Why are you doing that? Why has Touya-nii been in there so long?” He pulled at her pant leg, waiting for a response.

The older Todoroki noticed her sibling and knelt to his eye level. “It’s all okay, Sho. Touya is just feeling a little sick is all. Why don’t you go outside and play soccer with Natsuo?” She patted Shoto’s dual coloured head. Natsu was fourteen and practicing to try out for his new highschool soccer team.

“Okay…” Shoto replied, unsure of Fuyumi’s response, but he joined Natsuo in the backyard anyway.

Fuyumi let out a sigh. She didn’t need her other siblings to find out about the situation, the fewer people knew the better. Shoto was too young to understand the implications of the ordeal, and Natsu had a big tendency to run his mouth.

The white-haired girl knocked on the door lightly, “Well?”

Fuyumi got her response in the form of Touya cursing, “Fuck.”

She took that as a sign to enter the room, her eyes immediately took to her brother holding the pregnancy test in his hands, with tears in his eyes.

“It’s positive,” Touya mumbled, “I’m so screwed.”

Instantly she was at his side, glancing over his shoulder to see the two lines upon the test. “We’ll figure it out.” Fuyumi soothed, rubbing Touya on the back, her twin sibling instincts kicking in.

How?” He looked up at her, the tears in his eyes spilling, and his voice breaking. The complications of being pregnant dawning on the young Todoroki, hiding something like this from their father and brothers was near impossible. What would Keigo even think? He’s a top-ranking pro hero who can’t be tied down the domesticity of a fucking child.

“Maybe you should start by telling your partner, alright?” Fuyumi suggested, taking the pregnancy test from his shaking hands and tossing it into the waste bin, careful to cover the evidence with a tissue. “Then go from there.”

“I told you, Yumi...it’s complicated,” He brought his knees up to his chest, “I don’t think it’s a good idea…”

“Why? Don’t you love this person?”

Touya groaned and buried his face. “Let’s just say he, under no circumstances, can find out I’m a Todoroki for various reasons. Mainly father.”

Tell me who you’re talking about,”  Fuyumi pleaded, wrapping her arms around Touya, who was at this point on the brink of a panic attack. “At least give me that.”

The red-haired male kept his head hidden while he shook his head. “I-I’m sorry, Yumi, I never meant for this to happen.”

The eldest Todoroki was frustrated at her brother’s stubbornness, yet couldn’t bring herself to stay mad at Touya, he was obviously in need of support. “Would this mysterious unnamed boyfriend accept the news, or is it just about this family?” She prodded.

“He would be...of course he would be...but…” Touya didn’t finish his sentence as sobs began to rack his body, he lent in to his sister’s side.

Fuyumi adjusted her glasses and eventually spoke. “If it comes down to it since we can’t let father know...maybe you should get rid-”

No!” Touya’s head quickly shot up, revealing his glassy eyes and upset complexion. “I-I would never! Just because this was unplanned and super fucking inconvenient I would never do that! I’m going through with this!” He claimed, despite the unease of the sudden pregnancy, Touya couldn't bring himself to abort the unborn baby, whether it was a sense of parental obligation, or something more, he was unsure.

“Okay, Touya--but you have to tell him!” The other Todoroki replied, accidentally raising her voice, “What else can you do?!”

“I-I don’t know! I don’t even know why I bothered bringing you into this!”

“So you don’t trust me?” Fuyumi had a look of hurt in her eyes. Her and Touya always had each other's back since they were kids, they were the oldest of the four. She wasn’t completely ignorant, over the years Fuyumi noticed the fact they were drifting apart.

“No! I do! I’m just…this is so hard,” Touya’s voice calmed down as he slowly reached for his pockets, pulling out his phone. “We’re only nineteen. I don’t even know if he’s ready for the commitment of a fucking baby.” His thumb hovers over the call button.

Fuyumi remained silent as Touya mulled over dialling his boyfriend, she had nothing to say. Todoroki knew her brother was right to be conflicted.

Touya pauses before glancing at his sister. “Dad’s his idol, ya know?” The look of his amusement on his face was mocking.

Fuyumi scoffed, smiling. “Oh my god.”

“Yeah…” he took a deep breath. “I’m worried.”

“You’ll be a great dad,” She hesitated “better than him.” The eldest Todoroki knew deep down in her heart she'd always wanted the perfect family. It was the first time Fuyumi admitted their dad was short of ideal in a long time, but she meant what she said.

“Really?” Touya sounded surprised by her later statement. “I guess this is me getting the chance to prove I’m better than that piece of crap.” He smiled softly.

Fuyumi winced at the harsh choice of words but agreed anyway. “See? There’s always a bright side.”

He sighed, “What would I do without you, Yumi?”

Fuyumi snickered “Ditch us to become a villain so you can kill dad, probably.”

Touya male lightly slapped her on the shoulder, “That’s just mean.”

Their sibling banter was suddenly interrupted by a small voice at the door, accompanied by gentle knocking.

“Sho?” Touya called out, “What’s the matter?”

There was a long pause before he received an answer. “He’s home.” The youngest Todoroki whispered. “Dad’s home.”
