Silk Touch

“Come on.” Newt said, brushing golden locks out of his eyes. He’d need a haircut soon.

Thomas held the silver scissors tightly, while Newt chuckled from the stool he was sitting on. Newt’s hair was blonde and silky, dangling down to his shoulders. It was properly brushed (“I can’t have you messing it up, Tommy, OK?” “You know I won’t!” “Sure, whatever you say,”) and Thomas stuck his tongue out in concentration.

“Please don’t chop my ear off.” Newt requested, running a hand through his hair. “How am I supposed to defeat WICKED then?”

“You’ll figure it out somehow.” Thomas quickly and wittily replied, trimming an edge of Newt’s hair. “Wow, these scissors are cutting.”

“That’s the point, dumbass.” Newt muttered.

“What did you just call me?” Thomas joked, trimming more, the hair falling in a pile around their feet, and Thomas rested his hands on Newt’s shoulders, Newt relaxing into him.

“A very lovely person, babe, that’s what it means.” He said, holding onto Thomas’ hand tightly.

Newt’s eyes twinkled and Thomas’ heart lurched.

(God, he was far gone, wasn’t he?)

“Sure it does.”

“It does!”

“I believe you, Newtie.”

“Don’t call me that.”

“OK Newtie, now turn around and I’ll cut you a fringe.”

“Don’t you dare, arsehole!” Newt yelped, hopping up and running a few paces away. “Get those things away from me!”

“But it would look so pretty on you!” Thomas complained, snipping the scissors ominously.

“Hands off, Tommy.” Newt warned, but Thomas had gotten him backed into a corner.

Suddenly Thomas could feel Newt’s breath on his face, and they were so close, faces just millimetres apart when Newt cleared his throat.

“Right, well, I’ll just call Aris to do this for me instead, Tommy. He doesn’t have your crazy ideas.”

“He was the one to take my through the vents in WICKED, which you yelled at me for, by the way. Not cool, Newtie.”

“You know what?” Newt said, taking the scissors from Thomas. “Maybe I’ll just keep it long. And throw these away while I’m at it, before you stab me with them.”

“I’d never do that to you, Newtie. You’re special.”

“On the safe side!” Newt laughed, quickly pressing a kiss to Thomas’ cheek and Thomas flushed bright red. “I’ll see you.”

“See you later, bye!"

Thomas looked at Newt. “You’re going to do Gardening today, I’ll oversee that, just to teach you the ropes of it, OK?”
