Love’s Soft Melody

At first Shouto hadn’t noticed the song playing in the background. He didn’t notice the soft violin music. Not until a week had gone by. Then he noticed the soft music that was unnoticeable if one wasn’t trying to hear it. But once he noticed it he couldn’t unnotice it. Usually the tempo of the song was somewhat fast. He didn’t know what started this. He knew that most people got a sign that they had a soulmate when they were around sixteen or eighteen. But he hadn’t heard of anyone hearing music. All he knew is that he wouldn’t tell his father. Though he was trying to become a better person. Shoto didn’t trust him with matters of the heart. So Shoto decided to just look it up. He didn’t want to worry anyone just yet. After all this mostly likely could be fixed easily. Right?
So after class he went to his room and started researching. And after about an hour of searching he found it. Well he found a few options but he found out that it was soulmate related and to stop it he would have to tell his soulmate about his feelings then the music would stop. He did look up what he could do besides tell his soulmate. And he was honestly considering the surgeries. But it might end up really really bad he didn’t want to lose all feeling. You needed some feeling to be a good hero and to relate to others. He knew he should at least try to figure out who his soulmate was before really considering anything.
He was deep in thought when Izuku Midoriya knocked at the door. “Shouto! It’s time for us to study, remember?” He called through the door. Shouto got up and opened the door. “Yeah I remember Izuku. I was just looking something up.” They had been calling each other by their first names around the end of first year. Izuku smiles happily. He had some snacks with him and he appeared to be happier than before. The song in Shouto’s head continued to get faster. “Alright so where do you want to start?” Izuku asked as he walked into the room. “Well we should probably study math. You said you were having trouble with that right?” Izuku nods. “I am, it's just a few problems I’m having a hard time with.” Shouto nods. “Let’s start with that then.” After about two hours of studying both decided to take a break.
Shouto noticed that the tempo of the song seemed to change each time Izuku’s mood changed. Izuku lays on the floor next to him. “I can’t believe it’s our 3rd year… After this we’re proheros.” Shouto nods. “It feels like we just went to Yuuei.” Izuku hums “It really does. I almost wish we could stay in Yuuei forever. But I think becoming a hero would be exciting.” Shouto glanced over at Izuku. Who had his eyes closed. He looked so relaxed and kinda cute. “You would be a great Hero Izuku I really think you will be number one.” Izuku’s blush made his freckles more visible. He opened his eyes to look back at Shouto. The music in Shouto’s head seemed to speed up. “T-thanks Shouto.” Izuku didn’t stutter often. At least not as much as he used to. He only stuttered when someone complimented him. And when ever he approached any hero for an autograph or whenever he got asked for an autograph. “You don’t have to thank me Izuku. It’s true.” Izuku’s face turned even more red and he covered his face with his hands. Shouto heard the music become a happier tune.
Izuku sat up, he smiled at Shoto and said, “Well thank you for having me over Shoto… I’m glad we could study together.” Izuku slowly sits up and stretches. Shoto sits up too. “Well I’m glad you could come over and study with me Izuku.” Izuku stood up. “Maybe after the test we can just hang out after all it’s been a while since we’ve been able to just hang out without having to study or do work. Shoto nodded. “I would like that.” Izuku leaving behind quiet. Well what would normally be considered quiet at least.
He could now hear the music more clearly. It sounded happy. And which made Shoto feel happier. He wanted to try and figure out who his soulmate was. He has the sneaking suspicion he knew who it was but he could quite bring himself to admit it just yet. Not without proof. He didn’t want to be wrong or make the person who he suspected to be his soulmate uncomfortable or make them feel like they had to date him. He couldn’t just force Izuku Midoriya to feel bad and date him just on a suspicion.
He couldn’t be exposed for liking his best friend. The person who had brought him out of his shell and taught him that his quirk was his and nobody else’s. He couldn’t lose that he couldn’t lose his first friend. The person who had slowly brought out of his shell. The person that made him become better. The person who lights up his whole world. Izuku sparked something in him and he didn’t know what that spark had become. Was it just a spark of friendship or was it more? He couldn’t be in love with his best friend. He couldn’t ruin their friendship
So instead of dwelling on it more Shoto got ready to go to sleep he would think about all this in the morning for now he just had to rest. He couldn’t think about this or he would get lost in his head trying to figure out his feelings and have a sleepless night over this. He could always leave this in the morning. It’s not like this problem would be any worse after all this could be easily fixed; he would only have to deal with all of this for a month at best.
