It was cold. Cold and dark in the worst kind of way. He'd been pinned down for what seemed like hours, his position taking heavy fire from the dissidents they had been trying to arrest. Duo wasn't worried, much. After all, he'd survived two wars, Wufei and Relena's wedding and that first horrible week of living with Heero. He took a deep breath and then another. He wasn't alone anymore, hadn't been for years. Heero was out there cutting a swath through the people that stood between them. Duo knew, down to the bottom of his soul, that if he kept his head down and kept fighting eventually Heero would find him.
