Chapter 1

March 1961
Elliott was in the alley setting more cameras up when the light appeared again. He watched in fascination as someone fell out of the portal. The person in a bright white suit laid on the pavement. Elliott slow made his way over to them when they hadn't gotten up. He rolled them over to revile blood running down their head.

Elliott quickly got them to a hospital. He sat in the waiting room. He should leave he thought. This wasn't his business. This is why his wife left him in the first place. He got involved with things he shouldn't.

A doctor came put and he stood. What was he doing it wasn't like he have any relation to the person? The doctor came over to him.

"Are you the one who found her?" The doctor asked.

"Yes sir. Is she okay?" Elliott was entirely freaked out. There had been three people to appear in his back alley and he wanted to know why.

"She seems to have amnesia. That bump on the head most have done it. We can send her to the psych ward and."

"No. No she can stay with me till we find her family," Elliott cut the doctor off. He knew what psych wards were like and they were never pleasant. He wouldn't wish them on his worst enemy.

"If you insist but you'd like to be aware that she's pregnant," the doctor said before turning to get her discharged.

Elliott finally met the person he was allowing to stay in his home a few minutes later. She looked scared and confused which he couldn't blame her for.

"Hi my names Elliott. I wish we had met under better circumstances," he introduced himself with a kind smile.

"I'm Vanya. I'm sorry for the trouble," she muttered as she shook his hand.

May 1961

Viktor sat sewing a button back on to Elliott's shirt with a small smile. He seemed to have got the man back on the right path after he lost everything. He helped Elliott open his shop back up, they cleaned up the apartment together, and they got a lot of his conspiracy things moved into the spare room instead of the living room.

Viktor hummed a tune softly and a feeling of home washed over him. He saw a woman, probably his mother sewing buttons on an uniform. She was singing a song quietly to him and another boy. His heart knew the boy. Viktor came back to himself suddenly when Elliott laid a gentle hand on his shoulder.

"Are you okay?" He asked softly. Viktor whipped away tears he hadn't realized were falling.

"I remembered something," Viktor said softly. Elliott's face light up and he sat acrossed from the man.

"Tell me," he spoke softly but anyone could see how excited the man was.

"I remember my mother singing to me and a boy as she sewed. His name is on the tip of my tongue but I just can't," Viktor sighed in frustration. He hated not knowing. Elliott held his hand and smiled gently at him.

"It's a start. More will come back just breath Viktor," he said softly. Viktor smiled back at him before he went back to sewing.

September 1961

"Little push Vi, little push," the midwife instructed. Viktor was tired. He breathed in the gas and air and pushed again.

"And the head is born! Just a little longer dear. On your next push make it as hard as you can and we'll have baby," the midwife said and Viktor nodded. He gave all he had to the pushes and then he heard his baby crying. Viktor chuckled softly before another wave of pain consumed him.

"Undiagnosed twins," the midwife said. Soon the pushing started again. With each pain he pushed until his baby was in the world.

"Congratulations Vi, you have two beautiful healthy baby girls," the midwife said while handing him his babies. The midwife helped clean him and his babies up and left with little fanfare. Elliott came in and changed the bed sheets and got the babies dressed.

March 1962

Viktor was out on a walking picking up little things for his girls when he seen her. His mind faded out as he stared at her with a group of friends. Suddenly he was younger and in a donut shop with six others and she was there. She was talking about training with the boy from before.

Viktor remembered them now. Luther, Diego, Allison, Klaus, Five, and Ben. He knew the names of the faces that hunted his dreams.

"Allison," he called without thinking. She turned to him and her eyes widened. He wanted to hide. He pulled the stroller closer to him as she excused herself from her group and went to him.

"Vanya?" She asked in nearly a whisper. Her eyes were watering.

"It's Viktor now but yeah," he muttered before he was pulled into a hug. It was an instant relief. Like coming home after being out all day.

"How long have you been here?" She asked.

"Elliott said I dropped into his back alley March last year. I had a nasty head injury and I have amnesia but things are slowly coming back. I mean I had to see you to remember you," he said. They were quite for a moment before a cry rang out. He quickly scooped up the baby and rocked her.

Allison stared with wide eyes as she looked at the baby. She looked toward the strolled again to see Viktor's other little girl. She looked blown away.

"Oh um yeah this is Gracie and that little one is Maria they are nearly six months old," Viktor said with a smile. He loved his baby girls more then life itself. He would move heaven and earth for them if he could.

"Wow okay this is alot to take in," Allison said blinking between the babies and Viktor. He felt for her honestly. She took a deep breath.

"Is there's a place we could talk Viktor?" She asked.

"We can go to Elliott's? He's always up for company," Viktor said. He laid Gracie back in the stroller. He started walking back toward Elliott's. Allison waved good bye to her friends and followed him.

Viktor got the twins settled into their playpen and he made coffee for the two of them. They sat in the livingroom facing each other. He took a sip of his drink and looked up at her.

"So you lost your memory?" Allison asked.

"Yeah they come back in flashes like I remember sewing with mom and Diego when we were younger. I remember my violin. I remember use in a donut shop talking about something," Viktor explained. "I don't remember much else if I'm honest."

"Do you know who the babies father is?" Allison asked looking over to the girls in their playpen. They were giggling at nothing as they looked at each other.

"Every time I try I remember vague shouting and the smell of alcohol," Viktor said. His face scrunched up as he tried to remember. Lights, loud music, bodies pressed together, and cologne. His cologne. Citrus and Cider. "Diego," Viktor whispered out.

"Diego is your baby daddy?" Allison asked in almost a shout. Viktor couldn't hear her however he was still stuck in the memory of Diego. Elliott came in and sat next to him. He gently took Viktor's hands bringing him back to reality.

"Welcome back. What was it about?" Elliott asked softly. Viktor looked over to his girls and smiled softly. Elliott nodded. He understood. He always did.

"Elliott this is my sister Allison," Viktor introduced as he got up. He walked over to his girls.

September 1962

They were having a birthday party for the girls when Luther dropped into the back alley. Viktor had Elliott look after the girls and ran outside. He was screaming for Allison, who Viktor hadn't seen since they ran into each other.

"Luther!" Viktor shouted out to him from the back door. Luther spun around quickly. His hands went up to defend himself which hurt slightly but Viktor understood. Ever since Allison's visit Viktor's memory came back quicker and quicker. He remembered everything now.

"Vanya?" Luther asked hands were lowered slightly. He look at him with pain and curiosity.

"It's Viktor now but yeah. Why don't you come inside out of the rain?" Viktor asked softly. Luther shook his head and ran off. Viktor sighed and went back to his daughters.

September 1963

Viktor and the girls both had the flu when Diego landed. Viktor read about his arrest in the paper and couldn't bring himself to bring the girls to such a place.

November 1963

Viktor heard Five before he saw him. He had just laid the girls down for a nap. A task that had started to become a thing of the past now that they've hit their terrible twos. Viktor jogged out of the girls room in time to see Five get a cup of coffee.

"Five quit harassing Elliott," Viktor said as he leaned on the door frame.

"Va-"

"Viktor," Elliott corrected before Five could even for a sentence out. Five cut his eyes over to the man before looking at his brother.

"I'm very happy for you Viktor. How long have you been here?" Five asked getting straight to the point.

"Two years," Viktor said pulling Five into a hug. He melted into the man's arms. It had been so long since Five had been hugged by his brother.

"Where are the others?" Five asked softly.
