A day with gator man (part one)

The girl and the gator walked through the ‘plex, looking for something to do. Luckily it was an early Wednesday afternoon, so there weren’t as many people as there would be on the weekend. They still got stopped every once in while by people wanting Monty’s autograph and whatnot.

“So…what do ya’ wanna do, kid?”

Ottie shrugged. “I dunno…something fun”

The gator gave a small laugh “Yeah? Well, I figured that. What’s your idea of fun” Monty looked around the atrium for a moment, his eyes landing on his own attraction. “Ya’ like golf?”

Ottie gave another shrug, “Dunno, never played.”

Monty looked down at Ottie, his eyebrows raised, “...How have ya’ never played golf?”

Ottie gave yet another shrug, she seemed to do that a lot. “I dunno man, I’m four.”

Monty gave a small nod, “Fair point…” Monty turned and started to walk towards Gator Golf. “Come on then, you’re learning.”

Ottie also turned and started to walk after him, “alright.”

Soon the two of them were at Gator Golf. The bot at the door started to ask for a party pass, but when it saw Monty, it stepped to the side. Monty gave a proud little grin, and the two of them stepped into the elevator.

After a few minutes, Ottie started to get bored of the elevator ride, “This is taking forever…”

“Will ya hold on, we just got in here. Give it a minute.”

Eventually the doors opened as they arrived at their destination. Ottie stepped out and excitedly looked around. “Woah! This place is awesome!”

Monty gave another proud grin, “I know.”

Monty walked over to the side and picked up a golf club and two golf balls. Ottie did the same and picked up a club of the same size. Monty snorted at the size of the club compared to Ottie. It was about two times her own height. He took the club from her and handed her one that was a lot smaller. “Here, try this.”

She grabbed the club with a small pout, “I could have used the other one.”

Monty laughed, “Sure you could’ve, kid.”

Monty led Ottie to the first hole and set his ball down. “Now, you just swing and-” Monty hit the golf ball, earning him a hole in one. “Now you try.”

Monty placed a ball down for Ottie and she stepped up. She swung at the ball, but it was way too light, just barely a tap. The ball rolled a couple inches and stopped.

“Not a bad swing, just give ‘er some more power” Ottie nodded and did as she was told. Her second swing was harder, but it still fell short. She took one more swing and the ball went into the hole. Monty gave her a small pat on the back, “There ya go, kid.”

The two of them played out the holes on the course. Monty of course was doing great seeing as he was literally built for this, and he’s played this course a million times. Ottie was doing well too, considering she was four and it was her first time playing, though her swings were always lacking a bit of power to get the ball where it needed to go. They were on the last hole and just as Monty was getting ready to take his swing, a middle-aged looking lady walked up to the two of them and she did not look to be pleasant.

Monty gave a forced smile, “Is there something you need, Miss?

The lady scoffed, “Is there? My son is in the ball pit!” She angrily pointed over at the ball pit.

Monty gave a small nod, “Alright… and...?

The lady gave another angry scoff. “And?! I don’t want him in there!”

Monty just stared at her for a moment, “...then tell him to get out…”

She angrily crossed her arms, “I have! He won’t listen to me, so you get him out!”

Monty shook his head slowly, “Look ma’am, I aint takin care of yer kid ‘cause he won’t listen to ya.”

She looked at him, shocked, “What?! But you work here! It’s your job!”

Monty rolled his eyes, “It’s really not. Now if you’ll excuse me, I've got a game to get back to”

Monty turned away from the woman and she angrily stomped off, “I’ll be telling the manager about this!”

Monty gave a sigh and took his swing, the ball landed near the hole. Ottie stepped up and placed her ball down. “Now remember kid, you gotta hit it harder” Ottie nodded and swung as hard as she could, the ball flew over the barrier and smacked right into the back of the lady’s head.

“Holy shit” Monty picked up Ottie and made a quick getaway before the lady was able to figure out what happened. He made it into the elevator and once the doors shut, he set her down. Once he set her down, he doubled over in laughter, “Damn, kid.”

Ottie gave a shrug, “You said hit it harder, so I did.”

Monty just continued to laugh, “that you did.”
