Untitled Barry Allen and Winn Schott drabble - Schallen
“Barry, check out this new software I got. Now we can not only monitor your vital signs through the suit, we can actually adjust them. Look, say your body temperature is getting too high, with this button right here I can pump cold water throughout wires in the suit and it will cool you down,” Cisco said. He was grinning from ear to ear as he explained his new toy to Barry.
“Sweet. You know, I think Winn has something similar to that,” Barry said before walking over to clean off his suit. His previous mission had gotten soot all over the red material, and Barry wanted to get the rest of it off before it set too long.
Cisco rolled his eyes at the one hundredth mention of Winn that day.
“Winn actually just gave me this new earpiece that will allow me to talk to him while I’m on missions as well,” Barry said as he got the last bit of ash off of the suit’s boot.
“Wait, what?” Cisco said, eyes bugging out.
“Cisco,” Caitlin warned from the seat next to him.
“What?” Barry stood up and turned around to face the two of them. “What is it?”
“Me and Caitlin here guiding you isn’t enough?” Cisco asked. “You need Winn helping out too? Why don’t you just bring in a third chair here and he can come work here, too. Leave Supergirl to James, or whatever.”
“Okay, first of all,” Barry started, flustered by Cisco’s sudden outburst. “James isn’t a tech guy. Supergirl could not just depend on him. Second of all, there’s uh, a reason I’ve been talking about Winn so much.”
Barry awkwardly rubbed at the back of his neck while avoiding Cisco and Caitlin’s curious gaze.
“Oh no, not because he’s going to come work here, is it?” Cisco asked. Caitlin smacked him in the arm.
“What is it, Barry?” she asked.
“Well, I’ve kind of been seeing him for the past few months,” Barry admitted, cheeks flushing a soft pink.
“Why? Have you been working on something together?” Cisco asked.
“No, Cisco! That’s now what he meant, is it, Barry?” Caitlin asked, giving Barry a knowing smile.
“Yeah, I meant like…dating,” Barry said, finally meeting Cisco and Caitlin’s eyes.
“Oh!” Cisco said as it finally dawned on him. “Man, why didn’t you say something before?”
“I don’t know. I guess I didn’t want to jinx anything. I really like him,” Barry admitted.
“Barry, you dog,” Cisco said with a smirk.
“Cisco,” Caitlin said with a roll of her eyes. “Barry, we’re very happy for you.”
“Thanks,” Barry said, his cheeks returning to their normal color. “He’s actually coming by today. We’re going to hang out tonight.”
“Oh, how nice! Have anything romantic planned?” Caitlin asked.
“If you consider take-out and renting a movie romantic,” Barry said with a shrug of his shoulders.
“Hello?” Winn said, stepping into the room.
“Hey!” Cisco greeted. He stood up from his chair to give Winn a half handshake, half hug. “Good to see you, man.”
“Thanks, great to see you too,” Winn said to Cisco.
“Hi, Winn!” Caitlin greeted and gave Winn a hug.
“Wow, this is a nice greeting,” Winn said as he hugged Caitlin back.
“I just told them we’ve been seeing each other,” Barry told him.
“Oh!” Winn said. “That makes sense. So now I can kiss you in front of them?”
“You can,” Barry said with a chuckle.
Winn grinned and walked up to Barry, giving him a big hug before pecking him on the lips.
“Hey, you,” Winn whispered.
“Hi,” Barry said back.
Caitlin grinned from ear to ear as she watched the two of them.
“Isn’t it so wonderful he has someone?” Caitlin whispered to Cisco.
“About damn time,” Cisco said, sitting back down in his seat.
“So we’re going to head out,” Barry said to Cisco and Caitlin.
“Of course, go have fun,” Caitlin said, basically shooing them out of the room.
“See you later, guys,” Cisco said.
“Bye,” Winn waved to the both of them.
“Oh, Barry,” Cisco called when Barry and Winn had just walked out the door.
“Yeah?” Barry popped his head back in.
“Make sure to think of lots of dead puppies,” Cisco told him with a smirk.
Barry glared at Cisco for a moment before catching up with Winn.
~O~
Winn shoved another forkful of rice in his mouth as he rested his head on Barry’s shoulder. Both of them sitting on Barry’s couch, feet up on the coffee table as they watched War Games.
“You know,” Barry said as he sat his container of chicken down next to him. “Cisco thought you were going to come work with us and leave Kara to James.”
Winn let out a loud laugh.
“I love James like a brother, but the man can’t work a computer like he can a camera,” Winn said. “And don’t they say you’re not supposed to work with people you’re in a relationship with?”
“Mmm, relationship,” Barry tried the word out on his tongue. “I like the sound of that.”
“Good, you better,” Winn teased, smirking up at Barry.
Barry smiled and leaned down to place his lips against Winn’s. Winn blindly set his food down next to him and crawled into Barry’s lap. Winn had never been thrilled about, what he considered, his lack of height, but the way Barry held him against his chest made him rethink his previous stance. Barry pulled Winn closer to his body as Winn carded his fingers through Barry’s hair. Winn pressed their chests together and Barry let out a soft moan.
“Well, that’s hot,” Winn mumbled against Barry’s lips. Barry chuckled and grabbed Winn around his waist, pinning him down on his back, and laying on top of him.
“You’re hot,” Barry said back.
“That’s cheesy,” Winn said. He pecked Barry’s lips quickly. “You’re lucky I like cheesy.”
“Winn, you are the king of cheesiness,” Barry said.
“Do I get a crown?” Winn asked. Barry laughed and shook his head.
“Shut up and kiss me again,” Barry said.
“That, I can do,” Winn said.
Winn pressed his lips against Barry’s. Both of their food containers had been knocked to the ground in the midst of their adjusting positions. Neither cared. They could clean up later, they could always order more food. But both knew that they had a limited opportunity to fool around like this. Because, eventually, one of them would ruin the moment with a nerdy smart-ass comment.
