Chapter 35
Chris sits in the arrivals area of the airport waiting or Georgeta’s flight to arrive. It shouldn’t be too long until it arrives now, only about half an hour at the most. Then they can head on back home.
He just hopes nothing has happened while he’s been gone. Though he’s not gotten any phone calls yet, and Anthony will for sure be calling him if anything at all happens, so he’s about ninety percent sure that he has nothing to worry about.
But either way, he keeps checking his phone every five minutes or so for any texts or missed calls. The last thing he wants is for something to happen and he doesn’t hear his phone go off. And considering how loud it is in here, it’s entirely likely that he may not hear his phone going off.
With Sebastian being close to the twins due date, he’d rather not miss any calls from him or Anthony. In fact, he’d rather is he didn’t have to leave him alone right now, but he had no other choice. He has to pick up his mother from the airport after all.
And even though Sebastian doesn’t know that he’s gone to the airport to pick his mother up, Chris just knows that Sebastian would be mad at him if he just left his mother alone at the airport to find her own way to them, just so he could stay back with him in case of emergency.
So the best solution was to just call Anthony and get him to watch Sebastian and the girls for him while he’s gone.
He takes a sip of his coffee out of the cup he’s holding, and looks around. The airport is packed like usual in the arrivals area just as it usually is. But so far, no signs of Georgeta or her plane. But Chris had arrived at the airport early to pick her up, and there’s still around half an hour give or take until her plane gets in.
He’d get up and look around the gift shops or get another coffee since he’s almost finished his cup, but he’d rather just stay put. The shops are no doubt packed right now - they were when he got here - and he’d just rather not deal with any of that. He already had enough of it when he got his coffee from the little coffee bar. That was too packed in there for his liking and it took him far too long to get a six dollar cup of coffee.
He’s not going to deal with that again. Especially not at six dollars a cup.
So all he can do is just sit and wait for Georgeta’s plane to arrive. And worry about Sebastian back at home.
He really hopes that nothing will happen while he’s gone. There’s still roughly three weeks until the twins due date, but they can still come any day now. Sebastian’s midwife, Elizabeth, had warned them that the twins may come early.
Checking his phone again, he doesn’t find any texts or missed calls. Which he’s relieved about for the time being. Just because he’s not got any texts or calls, doesn’t mean everything’s okay. But he’s going to choose to believe that everything’s fine. It’s the only thing that he can do.
Around half an hour has passed by the time an announcement is played over the speakers announcing that Georgeta’s flight has landed, and Chris sighs in relief. Glad that her flight has finally arrived. Now as soon as he finds her they can head on back home.
Getting up, he disposes of his second coffee cup (he had decided fuck it, and went to get another coffee while he waited, even though it takes forever to get anything), and makes his way through the arrivals area, trying to spot Georgeta.
And it only takes him around ten minutes at the most to find her carrying one bag and dragging along a suitcase behind her.
Chris waves out to her as he walks towards her, and as soon as she spots him, she smiles, and makes her way over to him.
“Hello, Chris.” Georgeta says, hugging him as they reach each other.
“Hey, it’s good to see you again.” Chris says, hugging her back. “Sebastian and the girls will be so glad to see you.”
He knows for sure that they’ll be glad to see her. And now that he thinks about it, Dodger will probably get all excited by someone new being in the house. He just hopes that he won’t be too much trouble. Then again, that dog is a hyper idiot, but also a great dog, and he’s glad that he found him.
And Sebastian has finally gotten used to the dog being in the house. He just hopes that the dog won’t be so troublesome once the twins are born.
The cats on the other hand, well they might just be the best behaved once the twins are born, as they'll more or less just stick to themselves. Chris knows that Muffy and Sooty will mostly stick to themselves outside, and Nala will probably retreat off to one of her many hiding spots around the house and outside.
Though, he’s not sure how Sabrina will start to behave once the twins are born. She’s already not on board with the new babies, and it’s likely that it’s going to be exactly the same once the twins are born. He just hopes that she doesn’t behave too badly….
“And how are they?” Georgeta asks.
“They’re good. Though I’m worried that Sebastian will pop any day now.” Chris says. “I have my friend Anthony keeping an eye on them for me, so if anything happens he’ll call me.”
Georgeta nods. “We best get going then.”
Chris nods, grabbing Georgeta’s bags as they start to head off to the carpark and towards the car.
Though, just as they get to the car and Chris is putting Georgeta’s bags in the trunk of the car, he hears his phone go off, and he’s quick to grab it out of his pocket.
And as soon as he sees the caller I.D, he fears the worst. It’s Anthony calling, that can only mean one thing. Sebastian has gone into labor.
Although, that might not be why Anthony’s calling, but it’s incredibly likely that it is.
“Chris, we have a situation!” Anthony shouts, as soon as Chris answers the phone.
“What’s wrong?” Chris asks, getting into the car once he’s gotten Georgeta’s bags in the trunk of the car.
Now this has definitely got him concerned. Something has happened, and he just knows for sure that it’s that Sebastian has gone into labor. There’s not much else it could be after all.
“Sebastian’s gone into labor!” Anthony says. “I’m taking him to the hospital now, you’ll have to meet us there!”
“What!?” Chris shouts.
This wasn’t supposed to happen just yet, but he had feared that it would. But it sounds about right that he’d go into labor while he’s not home. That’s just their luck….
“Okay.” He starts, trying not to panic too much. Sebastian’s gone into labor, and he’s not there with him. “We’ll meet you there. Tell Seb that we’re on our way.”
As soon as Anthony’s hung up, Chris throws his phone onto the backseat of the car, and is quick to get the car running. They need to get to the hospital as fast as possible - especially when it’s not very close to the airport.
“What’s wrong, Chris?” Georgeta asks. “Is everything okay?”
Chris turns to her as he starts to pull out of the parking lot. “Sebastian has gone into labor.” He says. “The twins are coming.”
******
Pulling up to the hospital, Chris and Georgeta are both quick to get out of the car as soon as Chris has found a park.
Running into the hospital, Chris goes straight to the front desk. “Were looking for Sebastian Evans.” He tells the woman at the front desk.
The woman looks up at him, sighing, before searching up something on the computer in front of her. And frustratingly, she takes her time looking. It’s not like they’re in a hurry or anything….
Chris has to stop himself from yelling at her to hurry up. Instead he just taps his fingers on the desk impatiently - which appears to annoy the woman at the desk, but he can’t find it in himself to care. If only she’d just hurry and find the room that Sebastian is in.
Maybe he should’ve gotten Anthony to text him what room and floor Sebastian is on…. Bit late now though.
But the fact that this woman is deliberately going as slow as she possibly can is frustrating. Can’t she see that they’re in a hurry?
Finally, after what feels like an eternity, the woman at the front desk gives them the floor and room number that Sebastian is in, and they set off in a run towards the maternity ward on the third floor.
Chris certainly hates that the maternity ward just has to be on the third floor of this place…. Would be ore convenient and easier for everyone if it were on the first floor.
They take the stairs towards the third floor, knowing that it would be much quicker than using the elevator. The stairs are usually always quicker anyway.
Once they reach the maternity ward, they find the room Sebastian is in relatively quick as they spot Anthony standing outside, assumingly keeping an eye out for their arrival.
“Thank god you’re here, man.” Anthony says, ushering them inside. “Seb’s not had the twins yet, but he’s in a lot of pain.”
Hearing this, Chris and Georgeta rush over to the bed Sebastian is lying on.
“Seb, honey!” Chris says, kneeling down next to the bed so he’s eye level with Sebastian who’s lying on his side, arms wrapped around his stomach. “I’m here.”
“Took you fucking long enough.” Sebastian grunts out as soon as he sees Chris. “Fuck… I need these two outta me now, but the doc says I’m not dilated enough.” He shifts around on the bed so he’s sitting up. He goes to say more, but stops as soon as he sees his mother standing next to Chris. “Mom? What are you doing here?”
“Chris organized for me to fly over before you had the twins.” Georgeta says, moving closer to her son and pulling him in for a hug. “It’s so good to see you, sweetheart.”
“It’s good to see you too, ma.” Sebastian says, hugging her back tightly, though he pulls away, whimpering as a contraction passes.
Standing up, Chris looks around the room as something seems to be missing. That something being the girls. He would have thought the three of them would’ve ran straight to him by now, but they don’t seem to be anywhere in the room.
“Hey, where’s the girls?” He asks, looking to Anthony, then to Sebastian.
“We thought it would be best if they weren’t here for this.” Anthony says. “So Seb called Laura and asked if we could drop them off at hers. Luckily she was free, and she said that she’d bring them here later on once Seb’s had the twins.”
Chris nods, glad that the girls are safe with Laura watching them. And it’s probably better if they’re not here to see their mother like this anyway. He’s not even sure how they’d react to seeing Sebastian in this state, so it seems like it would be much better for everyone if they weren’t here right now. And thank god Laura was free to watch them.
“Sounds like the best thing to do.” He says. “It’s what I’d do.”
“Ugh, where’s that fucking doctor and my midwife….” Sebastian breathes through the pain. “I need these babies out now!”
Georgeta sighs, kissing the top of her son’s head. “It’ll all be over soon, sweetheart.”
Chris moves back towards Sebastian’s side. “It’s going to be okay, Seb.” He says. “Very soon we’ll have our little boys here.”
“I know, but it fucking hurts.” Sebastian says. "I just want it to be over already...."
“It’s okay, Seb.” Chris assures him. "It'll all be over soon. I promise."
He hates seeing Sebastian in pain, and even though there’ll never be the chance of himself experiencing the pain that Sebastian is going through right now, he knows that it would be very painful. Sebastian is about to push out two babies, one after the other. That’s not exactly going to be very comfortable…. And the fact that he’s already been through this three times already, it doesn’t make it any less painful.
Chris wraps his arms around Sebastian as best as he can manage, sitting on the side of the bed as Sebastian rests his head on his shoulder. He runs his fingers through Sebastian’s hair, trying to soothe him as much as he possibly can, as Sebastian groans in pain.
“You want me to go get a doctor?” Anthony asks.
“Uh… yeah.” Sebastian nods, shifting around on the bed a little, moving away from Chris and looks around the room. “I think my water just broke.”
