Chapter 26
"Are you absolutely sure that you want to take the girls with us when we go in for your appointment?" Chris asks, leaning up against the doorway to the bathroom, watching as Sebastian throws up in the toilet. "Wouldn't it be best to call Laura and ask if she can watch them for us? Or even Anthony?"
Sebastian sighs, leaning back on his knees to look up at Chris. About four months have passed since he found out he was pregnant again, and they've still not told the girls about it yet.
For some reason Sebastian has decided that they should take the girls with them to his ultrasound appointment today, where they'll hopefully be finding out the gender of the baby. A decision that Chris doesn't quite understand when the girls don't even know that their mother is pregnant again.
"Chris, I'm six months pregnant, and we haven't even told the girls about it yet." Sebastian sighs. "Though I think Taissa has some idea of what's going on." He adds, having a feeling that their oldest may have some idea. "I want to take them with us to my appointment so we can find out the gender as a family."
Chris stares down at him, unfolding his arms from his chest. "So... you don't want them to know about you being pregnant before we go in for your ultrasound then?" He asks, a little confused. "I'm not so sure that's a good idea, Seb."
"No, I want you to go down and tell them what's going on right now before we gotta go." Sebastian says, slowly getting up off the floor, resting a hand on his six months pregnant stomach.
"Wait. Just me tell them?" Chris asks, surprised to hear that Sebastian just wants him to tell the girls about it. He would've thought he'd want them both to tell the girls. It would also probably be better if they both told them too. "Wouldn't it be a lot better if we both tell them?"
Sebastian shrugs, making his way over to the sink where he washes his mouth out with mouthwash. "I gotta have a shower, and...." He trails off, not sure what to say.
He knows Chris is right when he says that it would be better if they both told the girls about the pregnancy, but something seems to just be telling him that Chris should be the one to tell the girls, and he's not sure why. Maybe it's because he's still got Chris stuck on mommy duty, but he highly doubts that's the case.
Chris walks over to him, grabbing onto his arms to keep him still, as Sebastian sways a little. This pregnancy has already taken its toll on him, and Chris has noticed that Sebastian has been sleeping a lot way too often now, much more than when he was pregnant with the girls. It seems his energy is being drained way too quickly this time around.
"Sebastian." Chris starts, as Sebastian leans into his hold, resting his head on his shoulder. "We'll tell them together." He says, holding Sebastian close and running his fingers through his hair softly. "Once you've had your shower, we'll tell them together."
The girls may understand it a bit more if they both tell them instead of just one of them. They don't know how the girls will react though, especially Sabrina, who's only a year old. Taissa and Emma have seen this before, so they probably won't react too badly, it's just Sabrina that they're not too sure about how she'll react. They're hoping she won't react too badly, but they really don't know.
"Now, will you be okay with having a shower by yourself while I go get the girls ready?" He asks, checking him over.
"I'll be fine, Chris." Sebastian assures him, moving out of his hold. "You just go get the girls ready then we'll tell them together like you said."
Chris nods, watching as Sebastian walks over to the shower. He knows that Sebastian will more than likely be fine showering on his own, but the fact that his energy has been drained quicker than usual during this pregnancy has him on edge a little.
Obviously not every pregnancy is the same, but the last three weren't this bad. Sure while Sebastian was pregnant with Sabrina it was a little more difficult on Sebastian, which the two of them have chalked down to being because Sabrina was a very big baby and an alpha, but this one? This one has been hitting Sebastian the hardest.
Especially now that the baby has started kicking, and supposedly punching also. Or so Sebastian claims. Chris isn't sure if babies usually punch while in the womb as well as kicking, but then again, he never paid all that much attention in health class back at school.
"Alright well, don't forget to take a couple of those vitamin pills or whatever that your doctor prescribed to you." Chris reminds Sebastian just as he's stripped out of his pajamas and climbed into the shower.
The last time Sebastian went to see his doctor, she had prescribed to him some sort of vitamin pills that may help out with his energy levels. Chris isn't really sure what they do, all he knows is that they're one hundred percent safe for Sebastian to take while pregnant, and they have seemed to be helping with Sebastian's energy levels... when he remembers to take them....
"I won't." Sebastian assures him. "Now get out so I can shower in peace."
Leaving Sebastian to it, Chris makes his way out of the room and downstairs to where the girls are all sitting on the floor in the living room watching TV, with Dodger rolling around on the floor like a doofus. The cats don't seem to be anywhere in sight though, Nala is probably sleeping in one of her many hiding spots somewhere in the house, while Muffy and Sooty are more than likely outside somewhere.
As he walks over to the girls, Sabrina is the first to notice him walking over to them.
"Teddy!" She exclaims, as she gets up and runs over to him, wanting him to pick her up in his arms.
Chris isn't entirely sure why she calls him teddy instead of daddy. Ever since Sabrina started talking a couple months ago, she's never called him daddy, not even papa or dada.
She calls Sebastian mommy or mama though, and they've both been trying to get her to say daddy, papa, or dada, but she just won't. Sebastian says she's probably calling him teddy because of his beard, which Chris guesses is a little plausible.
"Hey, Bina." Chris say, picking her up in his arms and brushing some of her dark brown hair out of her eyes. She's going to have to get her hair trimmed soon. "What are you and your big sisters doing?"
"Box!" She says, pointing at the TV, which causes Chris to laugh.
"Sounds like fun." He says, before looking over to Taissa and Emma. "Girls, I need you to go get changed out of your pajamas. We're all going out somewhere in an hour or two, and your mother and I need to talk to you all about something once he's out of the shower."
The girls nod, before they're getting up off the floor and following Chris upstairs so he can help them get ready. Hopefully once he's finished getting the girls ready Sebastian will be out of the shower so they can tell the girls about the pregnancy and that they'll be getting a little brother or sister in a few more months.
Knowing Sebastian though, he'll more than likely be in the shower for a while longer. He tends to have long showers, especially while pregnant....
******
"My back and feet are killing me." Sebastian groans as he walks into the living room where Chris is seated with the girls.
He sighs a little as he sits down on the couch next to Chris, the cushions only doing so much to relieve the pain in his back, and the ache in his feet subsiding for now. He doesn't recall his back hurting this much when he was pregnant every other time.
Not to mention his feet feel swollen as fuck, and if it weren't for the fact he already has big feet, he'd probably say they look and possibly feel even more like big Hobbit feet - just, minus the curly hair on top, and the leathery soles of Hobbit feet.
"Well, how about I give you a back rub and a foot massage before we go then?" Chris suggests, to which Sebastian nods gratefully. "First though... we've gotta talk to the girls about something." Chris reminds him.
Sebastian looks over at him, then to the girls before sighing. They've got to tell the girls about the pregnancy, something he's kind of been dreading to do cause he's got no idea how they'll react to the news, especially Sabrina. He has some idea of how Taissa and Emma will react though, but Sabrina? He's basically clueless on how she'll react to the news, aside from more than likely being a little upset.
"Tai, Em, Bina." Chris calls the girls over from where they sat on the floor watching TV.
The girls all turn to face their parents, before scooting over closer on the floor to them. Even Dodger makes his way over from the other side of the room, seemingly curious about what's going on or just wanting attention.
On one hand, both Chris and Sebastian feel as though Dodger should be told this as well, only he won't be able to understand a thing that they're saying. They guess when the baby is born he'd somehow tell things are different though.
"Now, I need you three..." He glances over at Dodger, who just stares at him with big puppy dog eyes. "Four to listen to what your mother and I are about to tell you." He then turns to Sebastian. "We don't need to tell the cats too do we?"
Sebastian laughs at that, shaking his head. "No, Chris." He says. "I think they can already somehow sense that something's up."
"What's wrong, daddy?" Emma asks, looking between both her parents.
Sabrina doesn't say anything, just watches both of her parents.
Taissa on the other hand appears to be deep in thought, like she's trying to figure out what's going on herself. Which both Sebastian and Chris wouldn't be too surprised if she manages to figure it out on her own. She's always been rather smart for her age.
"Nothing's wrong, sweetie." Sebastian assures her, as Emma turns to look at him. "Far from it." He glances over at Chris, trying to figure out if he's going to say it, or if she should say it himself.
The both of them hadn't exactly discussed what they're going to tell the girls, only that they need to be told about the pregnancy. They never planned how they'd tell them.
"You girls are going to have a little baby brother or sister in a few months." Sebastian finally says, figuring that Chris isn't going to say it and that he's waiting for him to say it. "We're going to the doctors to see if it's a boy or a girl soon."
All three of the girls - and Dodger - are quiet, none of them sure what to say. Then again, they're all still quite young and don't understand what's happening, except maybe Taissa who has some understanding of what's happening. Then there's Dodger who obviously doesn't know what's going on.
"You're having another baby?" Taissa finally asks.
"Yes." Chris nods. "We're having another baby."
Taissa just nods, looking as though she's not really bothered by the fact that she's going to have another younger sibling. Chris and Sebastian are just going to take that as a good reaction for now.
"Baby?" Sabrina asks, standing up and walking over to Sebastian, where she pulls on his pants a little. "No baby." She then hits Sebastian on the leg, which causes him to gasp in shock.
"Ow, Sabrina, it's okay." He says, trying to get her to stop hitting his leg, which he finds a little bit difficult to do so. "Sabrina, everything's okay." He repeats, looking over to Chris for help as she doesn't stop hitting his leg, no matter how he tries to stop her.
Chris is quick to grab Sabrina, who starts to struggle in his arms, repeating "No baby" over and over. It seems as though she's not very happy about the new baby (or that the baby isn't actually here, which Sebastian is hoping is the case, but rather doubts it), and that breaks Sebastian. He wasn't sure how he was expecting her to react, but it certainly wasn't this.
"Sabrina, everything's okay, sweetie." Chris attempts to shush her, which sort of works, as she stops struggling, and just lets out small whimpering as she holds onto her father.
Chris glances over to Sebastian to find him looking as though he's on the verge of tears, which he doesn't blame him. They weren't expecting this reaction from Sabrina, they did expect her to he a little upset, but this isn't what they were expecting.
As Chris walks around the room with Sabrina in his arms, doing his best to get her to stay calm, Emma climbs up onto the couch next to Sebastian, where she gives him a big hug, wiping away the few stray tears that have started slipping down his face.
Taissa on the other hand, just lays back on the carpet staring up at the ceiling. At least she's not complaining about it, rather just appears to be indifferent about it. She also tends to just lay back on the floor at times and just stare at the ceiling, or at the clouds if she's outside.
"It's okay, mommy." Emma says, trying to cheer Sebastian up. "Bina just doesn't know what happening."
"I know, sweetie." Sebastian sighs, hugging her back, as he watches Chris walk around with Sabrina in his arms, and Dodger following right next to him, seemingly trying to help.
He and Chris are going to have to try and talk it all over with Sabrina again later, and hope that she'll manage to understand that this is a good thing, not a bad thing. Hopefully they'll be able to make her understand, and be happy about it. Sebastian's not too sure how he'll manage to cope if she's not going to be very cooperative from here on out.
"Little brother or sister?" Emma asks, patting Sebastian's stomach lightly. "I want little brother."
Sebastian smiles at that, laughing a little, glad that Emma appears to be happy about this. She's always been a total mommy's girl though, so that's not much of a surprise. Though, he very much wishes that Sabrina was happy about this too much like her older sisters. "I don't know." He says. "That's what we'll hopefully find out today."
Emma nods. "I think it two boys." She says, looking rather confident in her prediction, which Sebastian finds utterly adorable.
Though two kids? Sebastian isn't too sure that he'd like it to be two babies. He does however really hope that it's a boy this time around. "I don't know about two babies, Em." He laughs a little. "But let's hope you're right on it being a little boy."
She nods, laughing. "I know I'm right, mommy."
