The Vision

Chapter 15 - The Vision

As much as she's without her avian buddy, Charlie knew that she’s come too far to quit in her mission now. So she entered through the round door and looked around in the room. It had markings and such on the walls and floors but was barren of anything barring some rocks.

“Empty…”

Then the blue bow blonde felt the wind blow. She turned to see, much to her horror, the door being shut before she could make it out. The trapped female was breathing kind of heavy, trying her best to stay calm.

Then Charlie happened to notice a yellow glow underneath her feet. So she got down on her knees and dug her hand through the sand, since she was standing on a circle-shaped slot full of the mineral. Might as well since she's got no readily available idea in getting out. The blue bow blonde was surprised to see that she unearthed a yellow shard. She picked it up and investigated it, trying to make it out.

“What’s hurting the magic?”

Vaggie was currently sweeping up flower petals in the halls but then felt something. Perhaps rumbling. Then she felt like looking up to see the candle and didn’t like seeing it flickering. She instantly thought of Millie's sweet, smiling face and growing worried of her going away. Well, more than she already did, as ridiculous as that might sound.

Back at where Charlie is, she didn’t quite pick up on the rumbling or the cracking in the walls. Instead, she picked up another yellow shard in the sand. She held it up to the first piece and saw that they fit together. Then a third shard. Finally, she managed to see something within the pieces, particularly when they were put together.

“Me…”

Finally, the blue bow blonde had noticed the rumbling and the cracking, thanks to growing big enough to not go ignored any longer. So she scrambled about as fast as she could, picking up all the pieces she could spot glowing in the sand and stuff it in her bag.

The walls were cracking open more, which allowed the grating mineral to pour into the room more. It was like being in the wrong end of an hourglass. However, Charlie noticed a yellow glow spot in a pile building up. She had rushed over to it and frantically dug into it. When it clearly wasn’t working, she just plunged her hand straight into it. At least then she got what she wanted.

The blue bow blonde was glad to see no more yellow glow spots and got to moving. Of course, that was good since parts of the ceiling were falling down around her and waterfalls worth of sand were spilling inside in the room she was trapped in. That included in front of the door.

Charlie got over the increasing hills of mineral and tried banging on the door to get out. It took some seconds, which felt like a lifetime when you were going to die from suffocation, but she finally managed to force it open.

Of course, the sudden spill was a strong wave of force and so the blue bow blonde was thrown rather far. In fact, when she was done taking a breather, she saw that she was right on the edge of where the chunk of rock from earlier fell.

Charlie yelped and moved back, securing more ground for herself. Finally, when she confirmed that she’d be okay, she looked into her bag. The pieces of no doubt the vision were still in her bag. It was surprising that it was exactly what Ozzie had said: the blue bow blonde would recognize a vision when she saw it. Regardless, she knew what to do with them next.

It took a while, a long while, but Charlie got down from Blitzo’s tower. She was breathing heavily and rushing rather fast that she didn’t see that she was going to bump right into Vaggie. Which she did.

The Madrigal matriarch was surprised by seeing her youngest granddaughter the way she is at the moment and inquired, “Where are you coming from in such a hurry?”

“I-I’m sorry. I was…”

“What is in your hair?”

The blue bow blonde was panicking internally now. So very much. She wasn’t sure how to explain to her grandmother that she was exploring in an off-limits tower, especially when the Madrigal matriarch was already in interrogation mode.

But then the two females heard Ozzie cry out, “my Gift!”

The muscle-bound Madrigal scaled up the stairs, sobbing, and saw his grandmother. Then he yelled, “I’m losing my Gift!”

Vaggie couldn’t believe what she was hearing. “What?”

“Charlie and I were having this little talk about me carrying too much so I tried not to carry so much but I realized it was putting me behind and I knew I was gonna let everyone down. And I felt really bad so I was grabbing all the donkeys but then when I went to throw the donkeys in the barn, they were…” Ozzie stopped for a second, his throat being back up. Then, in a heavy sob, “heavy!”

Finally, the muscle-bound Madrigal ran off to his room, crying the whole way. The blue bow blonde felt like she was being crushed by the weight of Vaggie's critical gaze.

Then the Madrigal matriarch asked, “what did you do? What did you say to him?”

“N-nothing. I… I don’t…”

“Charlie…” Then the Madrigal matriarch stopped when hearing the church bells. She checked her watch real quick and sighed in slight aggravation at seeing the time. Then, “I have to go get the Knolastnames for Verosika’s engagement. Stay away from Ozzie until I can talk to him. Tonight, we cannot have any more problems.” Finally, when the elderly lady was at the top of the steps, “and whatever you’re doing, stop doing it.”

Charlie watched Vaggie leave and turned back to Ozzie’s door, which was flickering on and off. She was able to hear faint crying, which put a pained look on Charlie's face. And the unfortunate thing is, the blue bow blonde couldn’t stop even if her grandmother told her to. So she went to her room and took out some pieces. Particularly the ones with her.

It was time to start cracking at this mystery.
